Diatomaceous earth works great. I use it on my cats along with adding brewer's yeast nutritional flakes to their food once a day. The brewer's yeast adds vitamin B to their blood which kills and repels fleas. My cats love the flavor and it really does work. I have tried several brands throughout the years but now I am using the Walmart brand and it really tastes great. I even use it in my salads and stuff. Helps keep mosquitoes from biting me cause they seem to hate the taste of vitamin B in my blood also.
is nutritional yeast the same as brewer's yeast nutritional flakes? i use bragg's. my cats love it as a topper to entice them to eat. interesting - didn't know it helped with flea control.
Yes it is. I tried that one and several other brands. I just started using Walmart's great value nutritional yeast flakes and it seems that my cats like it much better than the others. But I figure as long as it is brewer's yeast nutritional flakes it makes no difference what brand. They all work.
Jenny Jenny Jenny this is awesome to see! I have been doing this for years with my kitties even though they don't go out much and I've been doing it with my chickens for probably 7 years now! This is the best way and the quickest way to either treat or get rid of fleas...
I laughed so hard when you showed putting a bag over the cats head! I couldn't picture any of my rowdy cats or the stray ones letting me do this. I think it's wonderful they trust you so much. They certainly are big and beautiful! I'm still going to use DE. I'll find a way, lol! Thank you for sharing this great information. ❤😅❤
Well, thank goodness you found it humorous - many people have been greatly offended by it - clearly, I am doing it to help my cats' lungs rather than trying to hurt them, and the bag is on there for a very short amount of time. I didn't think my cats would tolerate it, but they do well. Since publishing this video, I have made a page on my site about natural flea control because I have had two flea infestations now with a cat with flea allergy dermatitis, so I have done a ton of research. @@Floppycats aww thank you for the site! Obviously those beautiful cats LOVE you! Sometimes people are just silly, lol. I'm sorry you've had to defend yourself from trolls, but it's helped me a lot! An I know there are many others that it helps too! All the very best to you! Ps. I showed my husband the video, he also laughed as I asked him which of our cats he'd like to start with! He seems to think it might work on a few of ours! We do cat rescue in our neighborhood, so we come across a lot of poor unsocial cats!
@@Floppycats had to DE the cats, surprisingly they all pretty much sat for it, used a cat cone to prevent too much of them breathing in the DE. Thanks for giving me the motivation to use the DE! All the best to you and your furry companions! 🥰

I’ve been using FOOD GRADE -DE for about 30 years. At the start it was a little difficult but I managed to figure out the safest way to use it.hardly need any of the food grade DE. A tiny amount works great no need to dust in the air or yard in large amount. 😷 .( don’t want to kill off the beneficials…..) It’s easy to avoid breathing in by using small amounts( don’t dust the air with it) .avoid the pet smelling, sniffing it while applying( bright lighting or near a sunny 🌞 window can help u see the dust application well). Then send them to walk 🐈⬛ off with favorite treats or toy.or u can feed them their favorite foods while u apply it.goal is to avoid future trauma or avoidance. Careful when applying inside the home. It can lead to respiratory and asthma attacks.moderation is key 🔑 I typically use it moist with water for pets.right between the shoulder blades on the back. Or a “ collar of moistened DE with water.Just like u would a chemical treatment.can be used dry in very small amounts. For fleas it doesn’t take long or very much for it to work.although this one is safe to eat in small amounts it’s very drying which can cause other issues.-respiratory and skin. Could wear a mask 😷 when applying broader applications like the litter box.( I use a mask to clean it anyway)don’t have to use very much anymore.our pets haven’t had fleas in years.
I'm very curious how wetting and applying DE between the shoulder blades, or just spot-application would work, since the flea has to contact the powder in order to dry up and die? I understand chemical application working that way because it's about absorption into the cat's system so the fleas die after biting. It doesn't seem like doing that would be effective with DE.
If u understand what food grade DE is, structure - mostly silica although safer than ( feed grade).u would be able to use it as a “ wet application “ nothing new.for certain things it may be more effective or faster dry ( like in your hand with a flea rolled around in it) also more dangerous as a completely loosely dry. I wondered what happened to all the beneficial insects.people have been haphazardly dusting DE into the air 😂 😐 I never used a recipe just trial and error but the masters of wet application are the farmers and gardeners.they have been doing it long before I was born Here is one recipe they have provided “If you need to apply diatomaceous earth to areas where dry DE won't stick, the wet application method is a great option. Mix the two at a ratio of four tablespoons of DE per gallon of water and apply in a thick coat to tough spots, like the tops and undersides of your plants.” As far as my own experience I started to use a watery application on my pets back between shoulder blades ( sometimes along the back )and around the collar.works great and as it dries u will see some lightly painted “ white”. doesn’t work any slower from what I’ve tried; both wet and dry.my pets never have parasites or fleas( tested at the vet) My pets all live long, enriched lives.I couldn’t have helped them survive decades if I wasn’t giving them good ,safe care. CAUTION ⚠ ON PETS 🐶 🐱 and ANIMALS 🐴 🐮 safest to moisten food grade DE.
@@Floppycats oh no, I'm so sorry for your loss, i know how painful that is! I lost my baby girl in February and my son lost his fur baby 2 months before. I miss them so bad! I got completely rid of fleas with diatomaceous earth. My house was infested with them even after buying vet perscribed flea treatment for my cats and dogs. Diatomaceous earth is amazing❤
Sprinkle it on the carpet and edges of rooms the animals hang out in most. Vacuum up after 3 days. I applied it to my animals twice and all fleas were gone within 2 weeks
@Floppycats: Thank you so very much for all your excellent advice on how to use DE on the sweet furry babies. .. You are definitely a beautiful Cat Mom!! .. They love you and trust you very much. It is definitely a problem when the sweeties insist on running outside and bringing the fleas back inside. .. However, I have sprinkled the DE outside also. You are amazing!! .. God Bless You Always! ❤❤❤
OMG I feel so foolish. I have a 4 pound bag of this stuff that I use for my gardening pest control but I never looked into using it for my kitties and their flea problem and it’s becoming pretty unbearable to see them scratching all the time I’m going to use immediately. I love your video I love the clear illustration of how to use it. I’m so glad you mentioned the alternative way to use the bag on their body not on their head because my little princesses are very finicky and I know the bag over the head will really freaked him out.
Another way I just learned about - dip a clean make up brush in the powder and dust your cats with that. Or use a flea comb. Dip the comb in the powder and comb it through their coat.
Salt/baking soda mixture will suffocate fleas. Takes a couple times of broadcasting the mix and a couple of time vacuuming the floors and you’ll be golden.
Yes...I have done this to all my cats and dogs with rosemary and thyme powder. Plus, I have put it in my ventilation system to clean out of mold, parasites, and deodorize. I have put it in my orange juice for detox tummy scrub. It does great on cleaning and deodorize the carpet that dried it out and removed pet hair with ease. It has so many different uses. I love it!! ❤
@@Floppycats 👋Hi Hun! On a dry day, I have put a cup of FGDE in the main duct work that goes in to the house by the air vent that is closest. You don't want to circulate back to the unit, for sure. I have floor vents but ceiling vents are just as good. Remove the air vent and pour some in. Place a trash bag over the hole before you put the air vent cover back. I had to put some in an another vent in the center of the house to ensure coverage. The house is town house. I had to change the air filter a few days later. My ventilation system duct work has never been cleaned out and mold spores were in it but this FGDE really helped a lot once the dust cleared. Nasty parasites feed off of mold and it attracted unwanted mess. It was creating a health concern. Either you can shop at Amazon or Walmart, you can definitely mix lemongrass, rosemary, thyme, separately or together as a repellent for pests, as well as zoonotic. They hate it! 💯 The ratio depends on how fragrant you want it to be. The stronger the better.--especially lemongrass. If you have roaches, this will help. Roaches are main carries of 6 different zoonotic parasitic worms. Cats do like to chase and I have seen some eat them. 🤦🏻♀️I give all of mine a Monthly dewormer/ insecticide and there health has improved in two months time. Some were bloated or underweight. The FGDE spiced FGDE definitely helped the animals including myself. I even put a half of teaspoon in my orange juice before my coffee. 😊 Of course, all that I have mentioned really helped with the environment control. I do not recommend this for anyone who has lung problems such as COPD or asthma. Animals should not be in the house during ventilation dusting procedure. It will be dusty. Plus, dusting the yard with prevent anything else from coming in. A simple box fan or a good wind will help spread it around.
The way I do my cat is sprinkler a little from a salt shaker wail he is eating, wail I pet him first. Then quickly take a soft brush and brush back and downwards. And gently brush his paws and tummy wail he attacks the brush.
U could put a spacious cotton pillow case over cat.. but cat will breathe in the fine dust when self grooming .. there are many other natural flea control alternatives
there are definitely many different ways to apply it. now i use a powder puff thing that women use to apply make-up. what are some of your preferred other natural flea controls?
sure - that would work. seriously, it's there for like 1-2 seconds, so whatever works. also, i recently discovered AnimalEO for natural flea control. I am going to have those on hand from now on. You might look into their KittyBoost, if you have a cat. I have a bunch of other suggestions here: Flea Control - The Ultimate Natural Guide Treatment for Cat Owners with Fleas www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html
I will also sprinkle on entry rugs and kind of rub it in and then vac later...also around litter boxes...don't care if it gets in the carpet as I say, you can vacume...good job! Again! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)

Have you heard of using a dehumidifier inside for getting rid of fleas? I have some inside now. A friend said she had a problem in her basement because a feral cat came in and brought fleas in with her. She said a running a dehumidifier to 45% until it shut off did the trick.
I have heard of dehumidifiers for flea problems. They like humidity; that's why Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado don't have the flea problems moisture-rich states do.
I'm sure there is similar comments. When you mentioned putting a bag over their head, I was alarmed. And immediately was laughing when you out up the disclaimer. Very appropriate timing.

Thank you for sharing this!! My poor babies have fleas pretty bad right now. The tub of DE I bought is being delivered tomorrow. I appreciate the ideas. We got some of the flea attraction lights which has helped with the ones around the house but it isn't keeping them off of the cats.

@DiversityForIsrael Unfortunately, medications like Advantage have neuro-toxin chemicals - and many pets have ended up with severe problems as a result. My Charlie got a head tremor from one.
Soresto collars are STILL on the market, even though they were banned by the FDA 2 years ago. Still available on Amazon and most pet stores, because profit over pet health. Boycott stores that still sell this poison. That's probably most of them, so just use DE Food grade. Cheap and it's cheap.
@Floppycats I can see that. I taught Bastet to accept baths in the sink as a kitten.. many things are possible Edit. Given cats don't like to "see " certain things, what are your thoughts on a clear bag?
Putting D.E. in their food makes no sense. D.E.. is only effective when it physically contacts fleas or their larvae while dry. It's basically like a good dust bath. If you've ever seen animals rolling in dry dusty earth, this is what they are doing, they're killing bugs. It not called food grade because its meant to eat, it's just because it's non toxic and relatively harmless to accidentally ingest.
Trying this for the 1st time in my kitten (3 month old) to get rid of the fleas, and that I believe is causing him tapeworms. I've been reading many reviews and comments about this product and I'm hoping it works.
I would probably try coconut oil on a kitten. I would also bathe them! And get them out of the environment - Download Our Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment floppycats.co/flea
i think it depends on whether you're using it for an infestation or just prevention. i think prevention is like weekly, and maybe every few days for an infestation? i am not sure, as i am sure it's subjective.
Thanks for your research and testimony. I’ve vowed to stop being mindless in all health matters and to cause no harm. I’m wondering how often I could apply diatomaceous earth as a preventative measure. Cats out of the bag! My cat is a bad patient & would not allow this treatment method. I might be able to sprinkle it at base of his tail. I could also sprinkle it in yard where he hangs out. Any feedback would be great. It is helpful to know I can get rid of fleas if they show up!
I actually wouldn't put this on daily for prevention - only if I had fleas might I try it. I have learned a great deal since making this video. And DE doesn't kill fleas fast enough for my Charlie with flea allergy dermatitis. So if he had fleas on him, I'd use DE, but that would be for the ones that hatched not to get the live ones off of him. Here's what I am currently doing for flea control: Right now for cats: 1. Garlic pills for the cats ruclips.net/video/4o_zks4h-W8/видео.html 2. NoFleazPleaz ruclips.net/video/mWjvz9GLekg/видео.html 3. KittyBoost by AnimalEO floppycats.co/kittyboost Right now for yard: 1. Love the video, had to actually laugh with the warning, "I swear, im not smothering my cats!!!" Watched this just to see if anyone was doing this any differently.
Our cats had fleas pretty bad over a year ago and we went the neurotoxin route and we haven't had fleas for a while, but now that it's spring again, I want to prevent a reoccurrence without using chemicals. The bag was a no go for my cats. I tried this outside and the one screamed bloody murder. Worried the neighbors will call PETA. Still went ahead and dusted some on them with gloves. I'll keep trying though because I want to avoid the alternative. How often do you recommend doing this as a preventative measure? Weekly?
We also used diatomaceous earth with our Ragdoll Pixel! When we first got her, she got fleas immediately despite the chem-drops. (Hazards of apartment life) We never actually applied it directly to her, but dusted the carpet, couch and doorways with it. She thought it was great fun and would take "dust baths" under the bed (she'd sleep under there and so roll around in it) That with a few treated baths and she was in the clear!
i apply it when i know fleas or flea eggs are on them. i try not to do it too often. yes, it's drying. i try to give them more omega 3s during that time.
This is a great video! Thank you sooo much! And there is such a beautiful autumn day. I have a question, how do you know that your pets and environment are fleas free?
Is the food grade version safe if your cat licks it? Being ignorant, I used regular diatomaceous earth on my cat and he got really sick after licking it off. I quickly gave him a bath to wash it all off and haven’t applied any since… Would the food grade version be safe?
Sorry that happened to your cat. Yes, on the Food Grade - that’s why it’s recommended. Does your cat have fleas? I might try something different if my cats had had a reaction. I cover more ideas here: www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html
I take care of 2 outside cats for about 4 years. This year the fleas are so bad that one of them have been biting off her fur.😢 I tried mostly evetything, but not much sucess. I think I might have to try this on her. She has never biten off her fur as much as she has this year.
@@Floppycats Yup that is what I am using now. She is too smart though. Anything in my hand, she runs away. I put it on the best I can. She was fine all season until the end of July.
@@Floppycats Never tried it because even though she has been living on my porch for 4 years, I don't know much about her health. She seems super healthy.
My cats 🐈 do not appreciate at all a dust treatment. But I do it because it ultimately helps them. After DE dusting on them/and floors….. I confine them for 7 days or more, with all their goodies, attention, water, etc. I will try the bag thing on heads also. Thks! We use plenty food grade DE on carpets, brushing into carpets with a broom. Was cat bedding ant same time. Then wait through the flea life cycle, etc. We do not use yard pesticides….though 10 feral, squirrels, raccoons, possums, etc live outside. We dust house carpets, broom brush into carpets. Wait a week or 9 days….and then vacuum up. Dispose of vacuum bag immediately. Or spray the interior of bag with something or DE. Remember that yard fleas will ride in on your shoes….into the house. A product called Flea Busters…..was/is sold through Veterinarians. Ask around. Respectfully, Ahna
We just applied first time to our kitty who has fleas. I don’t dare take her outside and we know the fleas most likely got into our house from stepsons dog coming in and swapping out bed’s recently. Is it common to see fleas coming off after applying? Also I will keep applying daily for week or two as I saw recommended by by a vet on another video. Thanks for any advice!
No, I wouldnt think fleas would jump off - it doesn't repel them, it just cuts them up. I would be careful about applying too much. Yes, I made this page after 2 flea infestations - www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html - go crazy with washing everything your cat or dog are on, and go crazy vacuuming daily for at least two weeks.
oh great! In that case…if they were mine, I’d put coconut oil on them. ORGANIC coconut oil only. Fleas hate it. It’s ok for kitties to ingest. They’ll be a bit greasy - so go easy with it if you do it. DE fries their skin out too. So coconut oil will help their skin, too. @@MattMendians
Hi! Love the video! I also have a rag doll, I have been struggling with a good amount of fleas on her. I have been trying many natural products but unfortunately have not had much success. I have been using DE for a few weeks now and still have a good amount of fleas on her, mainly on stomach area. How long till fleas would be gone? Any suggestions? Am I applying it wrong? I’d appreciate any tips etc. Thank you SO much!!!
You have to treat your environment - getting them off of her is only 5% of the problem. I explain everything here - www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html
Thank you for getting back to me!! I reviewed your link, SO very helpful!!!!! Is it normal to still be seeing fleas on her even after a few weeks of DE? I have learned it’s a slow process, but I’m just curious on how patient I should be before switching to a different method? Thank you in advance for your help on this, it’s my first time dealing with fleas on my Ragdoll and it has been stressful for both her and I 😅
Yes, you can still see them if the environment isn't being taken care of - what are you doing in the environment? And yes, I would use something else on her to get them off. I probably would have dusted mine again in 12 hours if I still saw fleas - and after a day would have switched gears to something else.@@chelsiavani
Hi so I have been vacuuming, sprinkling DE on furniture etc, and washing anything that’s been in contact with her as far as the environment. I’ve also tried spraying the vinegar solutions onto areas of the house as well. What would you recommend instead? Again, thank you for your guidance!
See that article - you really have to do all of that DAILY. It sucks. It's a ton of work. You need to vacuum every day - vacuum everything - under things, etc. If she goes outside, need to tackle that too. I washed everything my cats were on daily - and then I would put towels over those things, so I just had to wash the towels. You can give her a bath to get them off too. I'm really glad to see you're doing this....soooo much better than other stuff! :) This plus the garlic...let me know how it's working for you, present time....Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
It’s a slow process. Garlic was my savior in October when we had fleas. Hasn’t saved us as much this time. DE and coconut oil. Charlie’s coat is a mess. Trigg has no fleas. It’s all Charlie. It’s very mild, but crazy time consuming.
it's subjective - maybe every few days if they are shaking it off a bunch? i would tackle the environment before i tackled the cat. Download Our Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment ➡ floppycats.co/flea
When you apply DE to your cat do you give them a bath/shower? because I’ve read that that’s what you should do the next day in some articles. I was also wondering how often do you apply DE?
I only do it now when they have a flea. I also use a powder puff now - ruclips.net/video/1Ai9KACxgDs/видео.html - and I think how often to apply it is in subjective - maybe every few days. No I have never bathed them afterwards - usually, shaking, licking, running, etc. will get it all off.
If I tried this with either of my two, I would come away a bloody mess and they wouldn't talk to me for a week! I have one who is suffering pretty badly and she isn't due for another flea drop treatment for a couple more weeks. I will have to dust up my hand and just pet her with the "dirty" hand in order to sneak it into her fur. It will take several times in order to get enough on her to make a difference, but I cannot think of another way that won't end in blood, tears, and hurt feelings. lol
ALL over the web, and right on the Diatomaceous Earth Package it states.... "Does NOT kill flea eggs or larvae, ONLY adult flea's." Is this true? If so, using it 3-4 times weekly dusting my cats will it eventually rid my fur babies OF ALL FLEAS?
If it's food grade, it is OK to lick off - but ingesting a lot of anything can be problematic - so try to dust them with it, but knock off extra. do you have a long-haired or short-haired cat? if you have a short haired cat with an active flea infestation, i would rub coconut oil all over them instead. and yes, you can sprinkle their bedding with it. however, i would first - wash and dry the bedding. then you can sprinkle with DE, and then I would put a fresh, clean towel over the bed. then you can just trade out the towel every day with a new one, rather than having to wash the bed over and over again. when i had an active infestation, i did several loads of laundry while vacuuming every day.
@@Floppycats I know she got it from neighbors’ cats, she never had fleas before and I’d rather not use the flea medication. I could apply coconut oil, she won’t look great but it’ll give her some comfort. She’s short haired. I bathed and brushed her about 3 times now, did wash or change her bedding but she goes all over the house. Some fleas are so stubborn. That’s why I’m concerned. I’ll definitely try this. Your cats are beautiful and so lucky to have your care. ❤️
I understand not wanting to use the topicals. The coconut oil will definitely give her relief and keep them off of her. I would do that if I had a shorthaired cat. After you put coconut oil on her, clean, vacuum, clean, vacuum over and over again. 95% of the fleas are in the environment and NOT on your cat.@@paullivingoncampus5987
Naturally replenished for me. But if your cats are ok with baths, it wouldn’t hurt to get any other flea stuff out. But I figured that if they were bathed all DE was gone and not working in their coat.
It's very possible that you mentioned in your video the answer to my question and I just missed it but how often should I apply uthe diatomaceous earth? Thanks! 🤗
i am not really sure - i just do it based on the need for it. if you have an infestation, then maybe every other day if it's no longer in their coat. for presentation, maybe every 3-5 days? just depends how quickly they are getting it out of their coat.

what do you do about their heads??? my cats have a bunch of fleas in their face and on their head. they hate baths so this is my only other option. i’ve already spent 200+ dollars on the drops and the don’t work
What do you do after you put the powder on them? Just let them be? Do u wash them after? I just did 3 cats and a kitten, cats are on the catio, kitten is in the house, but is there anything else you do them afterwards? Thanks
How do we make sure that our cats don't become even more constipated & dehydrated? I was thinking we might be able to use a small towel over their heads.
My cat had fleas from late September to early November. We successfully eradicated them three weeks ago using the Seresto collar and widespread application of diatomaceous earth. However, we incurred an extra $750 in expenses as the diatomaceous earth infiltrated our vents, causing breathing problems for all of us. Transitioning her into an indoor cat after the flea infestation, she's been howling and yodeling every night. Frustrated, I let her out last night while also assuming they were dead since it’s winter time (40 degree weather) Upon her return today, I combed her out of paranoia, recalling the painful flea bites, and found three fleas and a bad smell. I'm uncertain whether they haven't encountered the flea collar yet or if they've mutated, rendering the collar ineffective. Should I be worried? I've applied powder, but eliminating them and the diatomaceous earth from our home took weeks. With our vacation starting tomorrow, I'm concerned about the infestation worsening while we're away, and I don't want the cat sitter to deal with this issue again. Also we found flea baths ineffective Help!?!?
Ugh, I am sorry - surprised she had fleas on her in 40F. Where all does she roam - it's gotta be in the environment strongly. Sorry about your duct work - yes, a little bit of DE goes a long way. Is she long-haired or short-haired? Check out this article on my site - www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html
I've used diamatacious earth with my chickens for years. My sister in law had visited with her boxer and he left mites on my cats. I'm gonna give them a good bath, treat their ears and try some de,just because I've already got a 50lb bag. Idk about tricking my cats into earin a garlic pill, they're pretty picky
i am not sure - i have heard of that, so might work. but i would ask in a facebook group or something. have you downloaded my free guide on flea control? floppycats.co/flea
You can put it sparsely around doors where ants are invading [big ants often seeking water] Safe for cats. Just keep them from application. You need so little
I’ve been using diatomaceous earth for over 10 years on both my dog and 2 cats, along with my entire house. All those have since died from old age. I leave it on the carpet for 3-5 days then vacuum for several days in a row. I also will use baking soda on the carpets. By the way, bedbugs, cockroaches and even ticks or any other pests with an exoskeleton will die from it. It is not harmful to pets or people but there’s a chance of pneumonia or lung irritation, so if you have a cone of shame from the vets or Amazon, use that. My animals would’ve freaked out with a bag over their heads. My cat goes out only in the screened porch and the fleas have found her! So I sprinkle it on the back porch and in the yard closest to the porch.
thank you for sharing. a cone of shame is a great idea. i stopped using DE on mine - might use it again if we got an infestation, but one of them gets a overgrowth problem in his ear when he ingests it. it's weird. i do prefer baking soda and salt mixed for my carpets - ruclips.net/video/z0RMKoIWF6c/видео.html. i do have DE under all my furniture right now, so i don't have to move my furniture and vacuum under it this summer =)
@@talapeanutbutter4250 so I put cone on them , sprinkle a small amount all over the body , then how many minutes / hours should I leave the cone on them?
Did you ever confirm that garlic worked for you? I tried garlic for 4 weeks with my two dogs and one cat and they still have fleas on them. I'm looking for a natural alternative because they're interacting with fleas daily and bringing them in the house. Please reply if you found a better alternative.
Garlic did work for mine! I did fresh garlic - please visit my channel’s home page to see. The other thing I’ve found that works is drjudymorgan.com/products/buck-mountain-parasite-dust - I use both. I’m about to order a product from the UK to try as a preventative. Please let me know if you’d like the link.
@Floppycats 😻 ☑️ I did use fresh garlic 6 days a week for my dogs and then frozen fresh just like you did, although I used the full 2 grams per day, 4 days a week just like Dr. Judy recommends. I will order the buck Mountain dust. Thank you for the suggestion. I'll let you know how it goes.
@@amygoodman7171 You have to attack it in 3 days - inside, outside, on pet. So on the inside - are you vacuuming, washing everything you can? I put down this mixture - ruclips.net/video/z0RMKoIWF6c/видео.html I did that for 16 days straight. Miserable. Gave Charlie garlic ruclips.net/video/4o_zks4h-W8/видео.html and also used DE to kill fleas and eggs on him. And outside, I did nematodes ruclips.net/video/T3cpKE6D2kc/видео.html. You can use the Buck Mountain Dust on things you cannot wash and a little on your pup to make sure he doesn't react to it. Now, I just use buck Mountain dust and garlic that our flea infestation is gone.
The flea infestation is under control in my home and on the animals as I had to resort to using Frontline because the infestation was so big. When I tried the garlic, there were still fleas on my cat every single day for three and a half weeks. And flea dirt. Also, on my long-haired husky. I'm continuing to use Frontline along with something else to see if the "something else" will keep the fleas off my cat. If a prevention or repelling type treatment works, then they should not be on my cat. I just tried coconut oil this week, but it's way too much oil to be giving the animals per pound because their tummies can't handle that much oil. I will order the buck Mountain dust today. The nice thing about the buck Mountain dust is Dr. Judy, on her website, indicates it lasts a very long time. Crossing my fingers! I tried diatomaceous earth, but, honestly I can't get enough of it on my long-haired Husky and you're not supposed to apply it that often. It seems to work for a day or two and then back to having fleas. And it dries out their skin. I also have sprayed my yard with cedar oil and diatomaceous earth. Although, my cat goes beyond my property. I honestly have never seen fleas this bad. He, for some reason, has found a flea nest and is bringing them in the house on him daily! Thank you for your continued thoughts. Keep them coming.
@@amygoodman7171 is he long haired or short haired? If short haired, try putting coconut oil all over him. It suffocates them. I couldn’t do that since mine are long haired. What have you done indoors?
We have quite a large flea infestation, is it safe for kittens? How long do u think it will take to kill them all, and can I use on cat trees/carpet etc. and how often should I repeat. How do u make garlic capsules, is there a video on that?
i don't think you can use garlic on kittens - but here's how you make them: ruclips.net/video/4o_zks4h-W8/видео.html - are they long haired or short haired? if short haired - drench them in coconut oil. and leave it on - it suffocates the fleas. Yes, you can use on your cat trees, carpet, etc. i would use salt and baking soda on the cat trees, carpet, etc - ruclips.net/video/z0RMKoIWF6c/видео.html - vacuum THOROUGHLY first and then do the salt and baking soda.
I’ve heard of Diatomaceous earth but have no idea what it is really 🤔 I notice you said food grade so I assume it’s ok to consume, like for them to lick it but just not breath it 🤔 Hmm I really don’t know anything about it I’ll have to go look it up, thanks for sharing. Also maybe you should wear one of the dust masks when you are doing it, as I’m sure you must be breathing in small particles 🫤
If the cat licks and grooms himself and licks some of that diatomaceous earth and eats it is that ok ? And how long do you leave that stuff on the cats ? Can you give your cat a bath after a few hours ? I need more details please !
Yes if you use food grade. I’d bathe them first, then apply DE. You want DE to cut up the fleas. Treat the environment though - that’s 95% of population.
So I have put it on my cats and in their food. I'm gonna put it on the edging around the flat, should I leave for 48 hours and then hoover it? As well as when I do my carpet?
I wouldn't put it in their food. They will get enough licking it off of themselves and their paws. Yes, you can leave it for 48 hours or more and then vacuum it up. But just do a light dusting....and while you're vacuuming, be sure to wash all the pet bedding. This is a long process and might take several rounds. When you vacuum, be sure you are vacuuming your carpet, furniture, under furniture, on the furniture where the cats have been, EVERYWHERE. I prefer salt and baking soda for the carpets and hardwoods. ruclips.net/video/z0RMKoIWF6c/видео.html

Just be careful if you are feeding this to your cats. Yes, humans & cats can benefit from internal food grade DE consumption. I put FGDE in my coffee every morning for strong hair, nails, skin. But when you first start taking DE by mouth, it can cause dehydration & constipation. You MUST start small and work your way up to a larger dose. Slow and steady, or else you will get backed up! Be careful especially with senior cats, as they often struggle w dehydration. [You shouldn't inhale the powder bc silica is bad for lungs. But when mixed with water, FGDE can be consumed by humans & pets.]
The small amount to give a cat should not be poisonous. Dr. Judy Morgan has guidelines. The amount is really important, raw, fresh garlic that has sat for 15 minutes after being cut is also very important. I'm trying to figure out itching and hair loss on our kitty. The tail is rapidly thinning, the tip is bare. This is fairly new. I myself had a strange outbreak of small lesions, one of which resembled a ring of them. She does not seem to have fleas. I thought to try diatomaceous earth, and Bannixx. She lives in doors, but we recently lost a cat, had him in the hospital, and he could have picked up something and passed it to her...
Teresa, please, for your surviving kitty's health as well as your own; Best case scenario would be that you've got a ringworm infection (dermatofytosis) brooding and growing of which you don't want to know the truthful estimates. Slightly less best case would be something you've been familiar with for a while and auto-immune related (psoriasis or something like lupus). Regardless of your own medical preconditions, your cat does in fact show telltale ringworm infection signs (Fur, much loss, such fast, bare skin) especially given you being adamant she has no fleas (grain of salt, but if you're indeed correct: worm more likely, act and do so quickly). Please get your cat to the first available vet and yourself to a general practitioner (or equivalent in your country) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Hair loss in cats, especially spontaneous, is never a good sign. Ringworm would be one of the more beneficial things going on inside your cat's body, so to speak, and I'd imagine that this is what's bugging all y'all. I think your personal diagnosis/'gut' instinct is unflatte-ring (sorry) but very much on point. All these symptoms ring (again, sorry) true for ringworm infections. Ring-shaped lesions tend to be ringworm (dermatofytose/-sis) unless you've got underlying Lupus or Psoriasis, although you'd likely have been aware of that ahead of time and wouldn't have been as eh, 'postponing'* your decisionmaking or harsh measures. As a general rule of thumb; if any living being gets sick after surviv'ring (bad one, sorry) a death in close proximity, get medical advice immediately. Post-mortem bacteria and illnesses are no joke and can get incredibly severe within very short timeframes. Please; get cat to vet, get you to doc, yeet worms, love cat, be happy. I wish you the best. *Idk the best suited verb in this previous sentence; forgive me for my sins, lords of the English language, it's my third language.

I’ve been using FOOD GRADE -DE for about 30 years. At the start it was a little difficult but I managed to figure out the safest way to use it.hardly need any of the food grade DE. A tiny amount works great no need to dust in the air or yard in large amount. 😷 .( don’t want to kill off the beneficials…..)
It’s easy to avoid breathing in by using small amounts( don’t dust the air with it) .avoid the pet smelling, sniffing it while applying( bright lighting or near a sunny 🌞 window can help u see the dust application well). Then send them to walk 🐈⬛ off with favorite treats or toy.or u can feed them their favorite foods while u apply it.goal is to avoid future trauma or avoidance.
Careful when applying inside the home. It can lead to respiratory and asthma attacks.moderation is key 🔑
I typically use it moist with water for pets.right between the shoulder blades on the back. Or a “ collar of moistened DE with water.Just like u would a chemical treatment.can be used dry in very small amounts. For fleas it doesn’t take long or very much for it to work.although this one is safe to eat in small amounts it’s very drying which can cause other issues.-respiratory and skin.
Could wear a mask 😷 when applying broader applications like the litter box.( I use a mask to clean it anyway)don’t have to use very much anymore.our pets haven’t had fleas in years.
that's great - i don't really understand how you wet it - could definitely use a visual for that!
@@dianeandjesus no. Don’t think so. But worth the experiment?
DE is said to be ineffective after getting wet. Has to be reapplied
I wondered what happened to all the beneficial insects.people have been haphazardly dusting DE into the air 😂 😐
I never used a recipe just trial and error but the masters of wet application are the farmers and gardeners.they have been doing it long before I was born
Here is one recipe they have provided
“If you need to apply diatomaceous earth to areas where dry DE won't stick, the wet application method is a great option. Mix the two at a ratio of four tablespoons of DE per gallon of water and apply in a thick coat to tough spots, like the tops and undersides of your plants.”
As far as my own experience I started to use a watery application on my pets back between shoulder blades ( sometimes along the back )and around the collar.works great and as it dries u will see some lightly painted “ white”. doesn’t work any slower from what I’ve tried; both wet and dry.my pets never have parasites or fleas( tested at the vet)
My pets all live long, enriched lives.I couldn’t have helped them survive decades if I wasn’t giving them good ,safe care.
CAUTION ⚠ ON PETS 🐶 🐱 and ANIMALS 🐴 🐮 safest to moisten food grade DE.

It has so many different uses. I love it!! ❤
tell me more - where do you source your rosemary and thyme powder? what ratios do you use? How do you put it in your ventilation system?
Of course, all that I have mentioned really helped with the environment control. I do not recommend this for anyone who has lung problems such as COPD or asthma. Animals should not be in the house during ventilation dusting procedure. It will be dusty.
Plus, dusting the yard with prevent anything else from coming in. A simple box fan or a good wind will help spread it around.
How do you use the rosemary and thyme powder with pets. Just sprinkle it on them directly or in their food?

The way I do my cat is sprinkler a little from a salt shaker wail he is eating, wail I pet him first. Then quickly take a soft brush and brush back and downwards. And gently brush his paws and tummy wail he attacks the brush.
ha ha ha - great description, i can see it and that sounds great!

Thank you so much!! What about a cotton pillow case over the head vs plastic bags?

Have you heard of using a dehumidifier inside for getting rid of fleas? I have some inside now. A friend said she had a problem in her basement because a feral cat came in and brought fleas in with her. She said a running a dehumidifier to 45% until it shut off did the trick.
I have heard of dehumidifiers for flea problems. They like humidity; that's why Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado don't have the flea problems moisture-rich states do.
So the fleas don't run to their face area??
Yes. But you don’t want to put it there. They’ll run back to their back though, so eventually will get taken care of.
I'm sure there is similar comments. When you mentioned putting a bag over their head, I was alarmed. And immediately was laughing when you out up the disclaimer. Very appropriate timing.

Garlic and Onion are bad in any amount. I use D.E. in their food. I love the fact that you use it! I thought I was the only one.
unfortunately, garlic got a bad wrap - it's not bad if very small quantities. I don't use DE in my cats' food though.
Onion, yes, but according to Judy Morgan, ,holistic vet, (pr.maybe integrative), garlic is not toxic.

How many times do you have to repeat the treatment?
And what is the recommended waiting period between treatments?
i think it depends on whether you're using it for an infestation or just prevention. i think prevention is like weekly, and maybe every few days for an infestation? i am not sure, as i am sure it's subjective.
What answer did you get to your question? Please let me know
Thanks for your research and testimony.

Diatomaceous earth is awesome

It can work on dogs too. Most everything that works for cats works for dogs but not vice versa. Just protect their lungs and use food grade DE
Love the video, had to actually laugh with the warning, "I swear, im not smothering my cats!!!" Watched this just to see if anyone was doing this any differently.
Ha ha ha - yes...I had to do this the other day and think my neighbors must think i am trying to suffocate my cats.
Yea it called adding it to there food
Could I use a cone collar to provide the same protection for my pets' respiratory systems from the diatomaceous earth, instead of a bag?
Seems like it might help but this stuff is very fine powder and lingers in the air so could easily still be inhaled with just a collar cone.
Pretty cats 🐈
Omg your cat loves you!!!

Weekly?
sorry, just now seeing this. i think it's once a week for a preventative - it just keeps their fur and skin super dry, so i am not a huge fan of it.
😂😂😂😂
We also used diatomaceous earth with our Ragdoll Pixel!
When we first got her, she got fleas immediately despite the chem-drops. (Hazards of apartment life) We never actually applied it directly to her, but dusted the carpet, couch and doorways with it. She thought it was great fun and would take "dust baths" under the bed (she'd sleep under there and so roll around in it)
That with a few treated baths and she was in the clear!
Glad that worked. Treated baths can be hard on them too. That’s why I was so glad about the garlic.
How often do you apply the diatomaceous earth? And does it dry their skin?
i apply it when i know fleas or flea eggs are on them. i try not to do it too often. yes, it's drying. i try to give them more omega 3s during that time.
This is a great video! Thank you sooo much! And there is such a beautiful autumn day. I have a question, how do you know that your pets and environment are fleas free?
I am not sure about environment - on my cats, if they aren't scratching and I cannot find signs of fleas or flea poop.

Ask around.
Respectfully, Ahna
thank you for sharing - and you usually get it taken care of in 9 days?

See that article - you really have to do all of that DAILY. It sucks. It's a ton of work. You need to vacuum every day - vacuum everything - under things, etc. If she goes outside, need to tackle that too.
Is it ok if the cat licks diatomaceous earth off? Do you have to wash them afterwards? Would you recommend this on their bedding then vacuum?
I understand not wanting to use the topicals. The coconut oil will definitely give her relief and keep them off of her. I would do that if I had a shorthaired cat. After you put coconut oil on her, clean, vacuum, clean, vacuum over and over again. 95% of the fleas are in the environment and NOT on your cat.@@paullivingoncampus5987

it's just a sprinkling. but yes, a towel would definitely work! mine definitely haven't become constipated from it - but they are raw eaters.
Frustrated, I let her out last night while also assuming they were dead since it’s winter time (40 degree weather)
Upon her return today, I combed her out of paranoia, recalling the painful flea bites, and found three fleas and a bad smell.
Also we found flea baths ineffective

Oh also I take garlic capsules myself, I don’t really know why but I saw they had benefits a few years back so I take one when I take my vitamins
Yes. Probably a mask for me. I usually just hold my breath. But talked through this one for the video.
No way!!! As far as garlic goes. Way cool!!!
thank you for watching. I am sorry for my late replies to your comments, RUclips didn't let me know they had been left - they usually send me an email when someone comments on youtube.
Can I mix it with some water in my carpet shampoo vacuum and do my carpets that way to keep the dust down? I bet after the water dries it works just the same.
no idea. it can mess up a vacuum, for sure...so just be careful.
So seeing as its silica and essentially glass, how do you think it effects the bowels and eyes
Cam cause silicosis and inflammation of the lungs
it can cause lung issues, hence the reason for the bag when applying. i didn't have problems with it for the bowels and eyes. there are other methods, if you don't feel comfortable trying DE. I was desperate. I also now have a Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment floppycats.co/flea
@@Floppycats the cats lungs and bowels I was thinking of not yours.
I just use advocate and don't need to now as the fleas disappeared
@@Redwarfa I was replying about the cats' lungs and bowels, not mine. Is advocate a neurological chemical you put between their shoulder blades?
@@Floppycats I do put it between their shoulder blades
A lot of them contain ivermectin
Seeing as my old girl lived to be 19,I doubt they affect them too much .
@@RedwarfaI wish that were the case. My brown cat in the video got a head tremor from it. That’s why I am using DE. No more neurotoxins for us
Ive read that it is very drying to skin im nit sure you should be rubbing it into thier skin.❤
Yes. It can be. They have like 1.5 inches of fur - so it’s ok
I am curious about the homeopathic remedy for the bites. One of my cats gets bad dermatitis from flea bites...fighting that with diatomaceous earth now.
There are many available. I’m not sure how much it’s helped us. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t. Worth a try
Hi thanks for sharing this, its really helpfull for me😢
I also want to ask, my house is infested by cat fleas, this is haunt me so bad. I am frustating to get rid of it.
I vacuum all over the place, i laundry my fabrics in high temp. to kill them, i also use mosquito repellent, it works but still, can't count on them they breed so fast. I'm crying everytime i find out 2 or 3 fleas jumped in the floor near my bed, i can't sleep all night.
How you spread the DE inside the house? Does brush DE will helps to kill the fleas? How long does it stay to kill them and vacuum them clean? Is it fine appliying in the bed that we sleep on them, if the DE application need long time to work? I really need your advice 😢😢
I am really sorry - it's sooo frustrating. Are you vacuuming every day? Are the cats being confined or are they going outside and being re-infested every day? I use a strainer or something you would use to put powder sugar on a cake to spread it. I prefer this method, though - ruclips.net/video/z0RMKoIWF6c/видео.htmlsi=a9fLayrVK_11Qm7k and be sure to see all the suggestions here: www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html. I am not sure I would put DE on the place I sleep. I'd spray it with something and let it dry all day. Like one of the recipes on that page I posted.
Do I need to use mask during application?
Won’t hurt.
How long does it takes to work on fleas, currently dealing with fleas and it doesn't seem to be working.
fleas are a complicated thing. what do you mean it doesn't seem to be working? where do you have it? what all have you done to get rid of fleas? the DE will cut them up as they move through it - but it doesn't happen fast. and you have to tackle the ones in the environment. the majority of the fleas are not on your pet. ruclips.net/video/z0RMKoIWF6c/видео.html and If you have carpet, make sure you get the corners and the sides! And check out this interview with Dr. Judy Morgan - ruclips.net/video/oVngxIkg5Os/видео.html
How often do you do this
I only do DE when we have a flea problem. I use it under my furniture jnside so I don’t have to vacuum under my furniture if we get fleas.
since I created this video I created a Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment floppycats.co/flea after dealing with 3 flea infestations in 18 months.
What homopath did you say that you use on your cat?
I don't know if she's a homeopath. Her name is Pam. floppycats.co/PurrrfectlyHolistic
Would it also work dialuted in some water? Also what happens if they lick it from themselves?
Water renders DE ineffective
no, water makes DE ineffective.
DO YOU REALIZE IT ALSO KILLS BENEFICIAL INSECTS INCLUDING EARTHWORMS ?
Hello doesn't this dry there skin out ? Thanks
it can/does - but depends on how much you put - you just need a small amount.
@Floppycats OK thanks 😊
Doesn't this make kitties skin dry then itch?
I suppose it could if you used too much
I also have 2 ragdolls that like to go outside. I need something for fleas badly. I'm over it. I'm going to bathe them today with Dawn
So very sorry. It's awful. Do you have a local independent pet store? Go there and get a pet safe shampoo - Dawn is not safe for cats.

www.floppycats.com/flea-control.html
Here's what I am currently doing for flea control:
Right now for cats:
1. Garlic pills for the cats ruclips.net/video/4o_zks4h-W8/видео.html
2. NoFleazPleaz ruclips.net/video/mWjvz9GLekg/видео.html
3. KittyBoost by AnimalEO floppycats.co/kittyboost
Right now for yard:
1. Nematodes - ruclips.net/video/T3cpKE6D2kc/видео.html
2. Tick Killz - geni.us/tickkillz [Amazon] #affiliate
And I vacuum 3-4x a week and wash all the towels inside that the cats lay on.
I want to use this for ants in my house but it just scares me, the thought of that stuff floating around in the air & me and my bf & cat inhaling it...
Wonder if you could use salt and baking soda.
Did you see the sifter I used? You could do that over where ants walk.
@@Floppycats ive never heard of using salt & baking soda-is it equal parts? & is it the same principle, it dries them up?
@@merkitten953 cuts them and dries them. Works for fleas but I don’t know about ants. Yes equal parts. I put mine in a food processor to make it extra fine so it would fall into my carpet fibers.
@@Floppycats hmm maybe ill try it. I get little sugar ants, only in winter, but they find my cats food and water no matter where i put it, & its so annoying 😾
I guess it cant hurt, right?
@@merkitten953 yes, i would think so - they usually have a trail - just put a wall of DE or Salt on that trail and see what happens.
My cat would never allow me to do that. He would tear me up. How do I do this with a alpha male 17lbs best friend?
You might be surprised. It's literally 2-3 seconds, and they are surprised. make sure your energy is calm. you can also put the bag around their body and put your hand in that bag instead - just a lot more difficult, in my opinion. Have you downloaded Our Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment floppycats.co/flea
Use a pillow case instead of the plastic bag 🙏🏾
yes, could have.
Is garlic not poisonous, is it normal for your cat to vomit after having garlic?
The small amount to give a cat should not be poisonous. Dr. Judy Morgan has guidelines. The amount is really important, raw, fresh garlic that has sat for 15 minutes after being cut is also very important. I have more specifics about it in my Free Guide to Flea Prevention & Treatment floppycats.co/flea
I get that you’re trying to prevent the kitty from breathing it in … but what about you ?
Yes, not great for me to either.
@@Floppycats Read that food grade DE is alright for humans and also has some benefits but it causes constipation. X
@@HiKasandra might be. Don’t know 🤷♀. Don’t use it internally much. Never saw that problem with the cats. But they weren’t eating mass amounts.
She lives in doors, but we recently lost a cat, had him in the hospital, and he could have picked up something and passed it to her...
ring worm? have you taken her to the vet? have you been seen by a doctor?
