Very important part of the job to do right. End of the process masking comes off and your done without a day of cleaning over spray. Nice work teaching
Excellent & informative. I use the same plastic but I switched back to paper because of the flaking. However, I can still up my game by continuing with your system of taping. Thanl you for the informative upload, amigo.
@@KonstantinUdalov Primer is ML Campbell's Clawlock catalyzed pigmented primer. The topcoat is ML Campbell's Turino or Resistant, both acid catalyzed pigmented varnishes. Unmasking was a mess. The static attraction of the flakes to the cabinet was a bear to deal with, trying to present a clean cabinet back to the cabinet shop. Maybe it's me, but the flaking s still there, me or the plastic sheeting.
I too have switched back to paper over plastic. Depending on how brittle my coatings were, I'd have flake issues on the next coat. Never had an issue with the paper. Also the paper tends to be easier for me to over apply and razor back. But to each his own. As long as the job is done well in the end.
I suggest you change your title to include the “frameless” - it will help it to stand out against all the others for face frame cabs which everyone has uploaded.. if it wasn’t for the image where I could see you were working with frameless cabinets I probably would have passed this over. You might be the only painter that has show the masking process for a frameless cab. Thank you!
Konstantin Udalov I appreciate your videos! This tip saved me some time on my first frameless cabinet refinish job. I knew there had to be a good system for masking the boxes and I just needed to find the right source.
Outstanding masking!!! The only thing I would have done differently is press down the very first layer of tape you put down. I'm not understanding why you left it loose.. Maybe to get a softer edge possibly? Either way, that is a nice, tight, precise, quick masking for a frameless area.
As others have mentioned...Thanks for the frameless version!!!! Question on why you pull back the first course 1/16". What do you do about that little line of paint on the inside? Thans again.
More useful infor thanks. Hey Konstantin, what are those poles called that you use to support plastic sheets high up to the ceiling I've seen in some of your vids (and in the bg on this one I think)

@@KonstantinUdalov hi Konstantin. Thanks so much. I made your 1,000th subscriber. Ha ha. I saw your video with Eric too. I took Eric and dennis’ cabinet painting class last January. I’m finishing 16ft of cabinets and doors now and am at the frameless masking stage. Your video was great. But alas I’m just a doctor and this is just my hobby.
@Tom Bo Ros No way to efficiently mask and not "waste" tape. Unless you move so precise with every rip of tape using a putty knife. Wich is a waste of time and money.. Tape should be charged to the client, and the only other reason aside from finances, would be to save the planet, but then we gotta figure out how to spray without tape paper plastic or industrial coatings 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for the precise, straight to the point, and helpful video.
Thanks for the tutorial. I kept looking for videos on how to do this but every tutorial out there is for framed cabinets.
You’re welcome bro 😎
Отлично, то что надо! Спасибо!
Thank you. 🙏🏼
FINALLY! Thanks a million. Every video I’ve been watching has been for framed. 👍🏼
=) glad it helped bro!

Even with 3m flake resistant plastic you still have flaking ? (May be you’re using bin primer 😊??)

This makes the corner a bit more resistant to paint chipping when it wraps around
What kind of tape did you use

Zip walls. From Home Depot. There’s fancy ones called easy walls 👍😊
Do you caulk inside the doors when you use Renner?
Yep I calk inside the panel when use polyurethanes . 👌😊
Would degreaser work?
Yep. Acetone is just a lot faster
Well done ✔! Unfortunately there is no quick way to mask up kitchen units ! Lots of patience needed !
That’s exactly what it is 😊👍
Thanks Max
