@@dwayneelizondomountaindewh6073 same, its too much Mike and not enough James. I cant watch Mikes videos, too cringey. Rental Reviews and Board James were the reasons i subbed the first time. Tony has kept the rhythm nicely.
Actually with 2002's Red Dragon-and for the record, I haven't read any of the books yet, you get a very fascinating arc for Crawford: his pushing Graham to use his empathy skills to reconnect with Lecter and solve the mystery of "the Tooth Fairy" while The Silence of the Lambs has him desperate to protect Starling-young idealist kind of cut from the same cloth-from Lecter in that he doesn't want him to screw Starling up the same way he did Graham. On the flip of that though, Lecter while resenting-or rather being disappointed with-Graham was wanting to lash out at him for both capturing him and rejecting the desire to become like him, he was not wanting to physically harm Starling while also wanting to coax her to his side. Interesting how while Starling in the film version of Hannibal doesn't ultimately give up her principles in a system she knows was badly compromised and corrupted and yet is not too upset that Lecter got away, she in the book version is swayed to his side because she ultimately does accept how broken and unworthy that system is in the end and that's it's no longer worth fighting for too.
wow great equation, mine is like Hack which could just be a variable or x of whichever hack or movie nerd delves into a film or any art form really, "The" is a variable which represents that exploration into a specific medium but is the exploration itself into whatever x is lol and "Movies" takes on a shape similar to like a Kundalini serpent and completes what the equation sets up in its namesake lol but also like insert any name or "Hack" into a review retrospective, and blamo nice meta joke to boot :)
Hannibal and Clarice love and fear one another. I love how this movie captures that idea with their interactions and subtle facial expressions. Not to mention in the books, there was a line about how Clarice is the only woman hes ever feared and loved, the way she let him into her life. Its hard to explain everything but thats my take and im sticking to it
Hey Tony from hack the movies! You, me and my 4 year old brother at the time Silence of the Lambs came out, have seen the movie when it came out. As well as other movies that came out in the early 90s. Those were the days...
"Memory palaces" are a real thing, Tony. It's an ancient Greek (I think?) memory tool that the best orators of the time used to do storytelling and the like.
It’s interesting that right at the scene where they talk about the officer talking to the other officer without the face, Tony jumps to talking about the Krooger actor from Seinfeld, when he just missed that the actual officer was the Sidler character also from Seinfeld.
@@ashleyp3662 yup at 16 minutes but he’s not even close to overall record BEATRICE STRAIGHT // NETWORK (1976) won best supporting actress for a roll that lasted all of 5 minutes 40 seconds
Good stuff. I liked the details about the book because I haven't read any of them (though I did listen to the audiobook for "Hannibal" back when it was new).
Don't worry Tony I was also into batman and silence of the lambs mad early in my life. Batman since 3 years old and silence of the lambs since 7 years old. It made us appreciate good films and cinema in general. My parents couldn't afford baby sitters so the agreement was I'll rent u whatever u want if u listen stay home and do your homework till I get home from work.
For a Fall Course on Branding I was tasked with creating a multimedia immersive experience for a movie created before the year 2000. I made a concept for an Escape Room & Pop-Up Restaurant for Silence of the Lambs
Johanna it's so crazy I THINK OF SCRUBS WHEN I HEAR AMERICAN GIRL TOO! Lol I thought I was the only one - its from that episode where blonde doctor gets her groove back!
A few weeks ago I got together with my friend, his wife and one of her friends and had a "few" drinks. I don't know what started it, but I busted out my Ted Levine impression and started talking like Buffalo Bill and Rusty Nail (from Joy Ride) to creep out my friend's wife. I lost my voice the next day, but it was worth it.
Glenn Scott was going to be Clay Morrow in Sons of Anarchy and they even shot the pilot with him in it. It was then reshot and the part of Clay was recast to Ron Pearlman. Loved the series, so it was an upgrade imo :) Johanna if you want to watch a show where the "portagonist" makes Tony Soprano likeable by default, you should check out The Shield. Vic Mackey is ummm..... something and his tactics as a police officer are questionable at best. I'll leave it at that lol
32:13 Lol Lita was the only woman doing that kind of thing in the wwf at that time along with moonsaults from the top rope. That's why she was so popular.
Been watching this series since I commented on that other video this morning...this is a very entertaining series just a couple people talking about movies simple and relatable..lol 👍
So Dino actually had nothing to do with this, which is why we have all the sequels and prequel and the tv show. Dino lost so much money on Manhunter that he passed on Silence, where Orion picked it up. Because Silence wound up being such a phenomenon, he made Hannibal (the movie) trying to recoup his losses. In doing so, the only actor who wouldn’t come back was Jodie Foster. The TV Show lists De Lorentis as an executive producer, and Brian Fuller wanted the fourth season to have Elliot Page as Starling hunting down Lecter and Graham prior to the events of Silence. Since that relied on getting the rights to Silence, he simply moved on to Star Trek, where he met Alex Kurtzman. With this handicap, Kurtzman went to a different network and approached them with the idea of bridging the gap between Silence and Hannibal 97- which should be interesting because pretty much the whole of that movie is already in season 2 of Hannibal. From what I can gather, the only connection between the two shows is Characters created by Thomas Harris. As an aside, the Colt Python is a Single Action / Double Action, so it CAN function in both capacities but double action simply cocks the hammer with the trigger. That clicking is going to happen regardless.

Johanna is great, so open and hilarious. I just recently came across this channel, didnt know what happen with rental reviews, but this is great.

i really like that tony almost always talks about other works of the actors playing minor roles. recognizing those is also a hobby of mine :-)
I love that "Sack Lunch" and "Rochelle Rochelle" from Seinfeld is in the background.
Tony's "this is how it would be in a modern movie" is so very accurate. Had me cracking up.

Never understood why people say “reading” when they listen to audiobooks. Is there something I’m missing? Also love this show thanks for making it.
You don’t watch an audiobook either though and “book” is in the name so it’s just easier to say I read it than “I listened to it”
