I like it a lot. As someone around your age (and the age of the protagonist), that feeling of a place that only exists in your memory really resonates with me. As we get older, more and more places become like that, no matter how precious or important or eternal they felt when we were younger. Either they close down, or they change beyond recognition. It can be an amusement park, or a mall, or a video store, or your childhood home- whatever it is, it carries that feeling of mixed nostalgia and sorrow, and I can definitely see that being used to take the watcher (or reader, or listener) to some very dark places.

That guy who makes the James Rolfe vs Time videos is gonna have a field day with the beginning of this. But i hope you get to see this movie through someday, James!
Ohhhhh that’s awesome! Your descriptions are so perfect! I can imagine all the creepy tunnels and claustrophobic spaces. I kind of imagined a gloomy, foggy day when the group comes across the park. And I can definitely see the scene when the young version of the protagonist chickens out of the ride. The noise just elevates and the screaming reaches this fever pitch as he decides whether or not to go down the dragon pathway. I also think that one of the friends, possibly the neurotic one, could accidentally cause the cave in while trying to leave to give a better reason as to say that occurs. It would be really great if the different memories from the characters of the ride all end up coming back into play later in the film. Like, maybe one thing from each characters’ memory ends up being true and could either be something useful or possibly something more sinister!
Sounds like some elements of IT in there, and definitely some influence from similar 80s horror fare. Sounds great! I hope you get to finish it. Can't wait to see it.
As soon as you named the protagonist Dante, the idea of the ride going underground to the terrifying dragon then back up got about 10x cooler than it already was. Nice touch!
I'm hooked on this, I could definitely see this as a graphic novel or a horror movie, I believe it would be better as a graphic novel to make the designs of the dwarfs and the dragon look absolutely terrifying
Anything you make. I'll watch. You're a living legend James. My favorite film you made is The Deader the Better. I still can't believe it all takes place in your garage
I desperately want to see this; I NEED to know where the story goes! Is there a supernatural element to the ride? What memories will prove to be true, and which false? Was the pact Dante made with his friends a lie he told to get them to come with him? And by far my biggest question; is the dragon still down there, and if so, is it really as terrifying as the rumors said? I want to see this story in some shape or form so badly! It's truly brilliant, and proved why you're one of the most underrated masters of horror around, James!
I actually really love the premise, I am eager to find out what happens next. It kinda reminds me of a creepypasta I listened to once from one of those narrator youtubers, one involving a guy revisiting a mini golf course with a robot dog. In honesty, I hope you eventually can make this movie happen James. The whole movie sounds really compelling, especially if you're approaching it as atmospheric kind of horror, I kinda prefer that more.
It's funny, the whole time you were talking, "Funhouse" kept popping into my head...and then you mentioned it at the end. Very cool. Well, it sounds fantastic. I'm dying to know where the story goes from there, so I really hope it happens for you (and me) someday.
I've actually been developing a small video game involving a defunct park, except the theme is kind of the opposite: instead of older people nostalgic for the past and the fear of impending mortality, it's about younger people in denial of their impending adulthood and about the legacies that will remain past our time. Theme parks are honestly rich with concepts for stories and there aren't a whole lot of them, oddly enough.
I like this comment, bc one of the shortcomings of Stranger Things was the look of the cinematography. It looked like it was shot on a current digital camera, and not an 80s movie, despite the pitch-perfect title intro. It really pulled me away from the nostalgic feel they were trying so hard to achieve.
Make it, James!

If he is going to do something large scale, he will need finances galore. Mostly for making the movie itself, but remaining money so that he wouldn't have to rush. So saying he has the time just because he is a RUclipsr isn't a fair analysis. It over simplifies the situation.
@@WhatwouldRoddyPiperdo He hasn't exactly created anything recently though has he?
I love the themes you have in mind for this, this sounds like it can be something really unique and incredible. Really hope its possible for it to get made someday!
Take your time James, i’d watch it if takes years.
Don't die before it happens.
No, he'd have to have it done by 5:40.
That guy who makes the James Rolfe vs Time videos is gonna have a field day with the beginning of this. But i hope you get to see this movie through someday, James!
@@AlfredFJones1776 300 views, but they're very accurate in showing how many excuses James offers up on why he can't do anything.

@@85wastedyears dude that's not even a comparison. You're spending an unhealthy amount of time complaining about this creator. Get some help.

"A trip down Memory Slain"
Lol, I like it!
Sounds like some elements of IT in there, and definitely some influence from similar 80s horror fare. Sounds great! I hope you get to finish it. Can't wait to see it.
You know, I think back to this premise pretty often. I'd be really excited to see it happen
True horror is the most epic genre to make. Trying to scare people simply with a story is a true talent. Very rare to pull off
This kinda reminds me of "the Dragon in my Dreams", but with a horror twist to it. I hope it happens one day, I'd love to see it!!!
Thought of that too
Muh dragon
I’ve listened to this a couple of times, and I would love the next act.
Even if this doesn't result in a movie, I could listen to James tell stories all day!
This is epic.
Heck, this could be a fairly budjeted series!
Living the times of sequels and reboots this would be very well received.
I'm hooked on this, now. If it comes to fruition, I'll be seeing it for sure.
A wise man once said "JUST DO IT!"
Shia surprise!
Unnecessary comma
'I'm itching so badly'
me too mate...me too...
U from Australia or England because you said mate in your comment lol
Chlamydia do be like that sometimes.
They do make a cream for that type of thing bud
I desperately want to see this; I NEED to know where the story goes! Is there a supernatural element to the ride? What memories will prove to be true, and which false? Was the pact Dante made with his friends a lie he told to get them to come with him? And by far my biggest question; is the dragon still down there, and if so, is it really as terrifying as the rumors said? I want to see this story in some shape or form so badly! It's truly brilliant, and proved why you're one of the most underrated masters of horror around, James!
You just described Santa's Land in Vermont. That joint had a gasoline powered merry-go-round.
I from VT and was thinking that or the old Santa’s village that was in glens falls NY years back.
I could visualize this so easily in my head. I think you should totally try and write a book. You tell stories so well!
I love it... I haven’t watched the video but I love it already !!
James you have a real knack for telling stories that make my skin crawl. Make it happen!
The real horror is the likelyhood of never knowing what happens to Dante and the gang. 😅
Why is this guys energy so relaxing?
That last line from Dante made me distrust him horribly.
Caught you early this time... always enjoy what you do man!
definitely needs to have an 80s aesthetic like it was shot on an old arri or something
Cliche.
And an 80s synth soundtrack
How about.... some vampire falls of a tower. And something happens
Agreed.
This gave me chills. You really know how to immerse people into your stories.
