As much as Mazda is pushing the barrier between mainstream and premium, the CX-9 is just not up to par with the luxury SUVs. If this was the previous Infiniti then the Mazda would be victorious here, but Infiniti really made some solid upgrades to the QX60. The Mazda that luxury automakers need to watch out for will be the CX-90.
It's the newest Mazda lineup that is competing with the premium brands. This guy doing the reviews is an idiot. He should have been comparing the Infinity to the new CX90. Even his comments are ridiculous most of the time.

Sam, I wanted to know your opinion on the 2023 GMC Terrain. The SUV looks nice and aggressive with all the black accents, but the interior looks dated, and the 0-60 is like 9 seconds which to me is kind of underpowered.

I just had a conversation with my ex about her Mazda 3 & her need for a new car, she's 5'.0" under 100 lbs but since she's from Hamilton she naturally has a lead foot. I was looking at QX-60 for the room for her 3 girls who should have their own but I know I'm going to lose this battle. What about a Benz or BMW 5? $1.45 a liter in T.O. yesterday but here it's $1.92 on Vancouver Island where snow is obsolete. What else do you suggest?
The new upcoming CX-90 will be a compete with the QX60. Right now the CX-9 compete's with the Pathfinder which is shares the same platform with the QX60
Does the Mazda use a timing chain or timing belt ? I remember the 2.3 turbo they used in the Cx-7 and Cx-9 had problems with the chain stretching. My sister in law had the older model 08 back in 2010 and she had put more money in repairs than she bought it for. She finally moved on from it to buy a 2017 GMC Acadia with the dreaded 3.6 engine …… she won’t listen to anyone and thinks she’s getting a deal buying cheaper .
Older cx9 never had a 2.3 turbo, 2.3 turbo started in 2016 my. 2.3 disi was in mazdaspeed 3, speed6 and cx7. It was a stout engine if you were an enthusiast and knew what to do preventatively. Current cx9 is very reliable.
I currently own an '08 model with the 3.7L V6 and have over 270K on the car. Other then replacing shocks, brakes and tires its been running great after 15.5yrs of ownership.
