I’ve had my first electric longboard for about a year now. For anyone who’s looking to get one of these for the first time, definitely take this man’s words. Most thorough and well thought of analysis out here!
By my own experience e-boards for urban areas should have inflated tires, even if 99% of street surface is smoth, there is 1% gap that you might not see like small stones, gaps, screws, steel balls especially if you run fast. With hard-rubber whells those obstacles force your deck to stop instantly, but because of Newton's law your body continues 'the journey' that ends badly.
My dad said that about traveling by longboard on a sidewalk by a road just outside my suburban neighborhood, even. One little rock and I'd be lying on the road in front of cars at 45 mph. I'm going to have to look into inflatable tires for my first electric longboard
i ride streets everywhere, anything 97 or bigger should just ride over most of everything lol. i've ran over glass bottles, massive pine cones, wheel size gaps, rocks. every now and then maybe a rock jams a gear. mind you my wheels look like swiss cheese now lol
Excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT points and video!!! I'm in Hawaii and have located an Evolve dealer here (The Bike Factory) and will be purchasing from them. Purpose of board is to supplement an already vast array of transport options namely point A to point B like bus stop to a business or bus stop to home. This will aid in saving on fuel costs as well making the board practically pay for itself in saved taxi/Uber/Lyft fares. BTW, a 64 y.o. here, been skateboarding since a little kid.
Why does this video have that little likes. He used time and money to help everyone else so we don’t make the same mistake as he did instead we get a very good board because of him. Give him some got damn likes!!!!
I went on offer up and test rode several boards before settling on a night fury. The test ride is critical to really know what you like. Totally agree new sub
Spoiler: Stiff deck harsh ride, flex deck more comfy, short deck unstable, long deck stable but harder to turn in tight corners every day ride be sure spare parts easy to get, prefer boards that are represented in your country, fast charger charges faster, test ride before buying.... daah for everything.
I'm a little late seeing this video. But thank you for this. I've been debating on buying one to get to work when my wife has the vehicle. One vehicle home two full time workers. Been years since I rode a skateboard. Thanks for the points and topics man.
Vault Man Just a tip but i have an electric longboard and a electric bike and i ended up using only the bike for commuting because you can lock it and don’t get dirty from the wheels when riding in the rain
I have an evolve bamboo gtx and a meepo v1.5 and the difference is massive the evolve is way more powerful and I have the abec 107mm wheels which make skating on UK streets bareable.
My friend was leaving for abroad and he was selling his skateboard and longboard. At this time, i couldnt afford the Loaded Longboard,so i bought the skateboard even though i felt more comfortable with a longboard. Because of this, i started to do some tricks. This resulted in me breaking my forearm, bone sticking out and all. Never buying a short board with a kicktail ever again
All terrain wheels are the biggest game changer by far. I live in Near Manchester and the streets are pretty rough so I find urethane wheels can be a bit of a bumpy ride sometimes but all terrain wheels on my evolve bamboo gtx with a flexible deck is the way to go if the roads where you live aren’t really smooth
the weight of the e-board caught me off guard!! i got the boosted mini x in the mail today and it is much heavier than the normal skateboard & cruisers that im use to
@Anything Entertainment I'm sure the mini s is a lot lighter with the smaller battery but the x really caught it off guard haha ive since also purchased a Backfire Zealot and that thing is super heavy lmao i be dragging that shit like its a suitcase. Great analysis and good advice for people before buying an electric skateboard. I have some of the same boards you do (Boosted Stealth, Exway X1 Pro), and I like both. They are different and have different advantages, but like anything else (and to your point), it's really tough to judge until you actually ride the board.
@@facehunter504 Haha. Not planning to at this point. To one of the points in this video, I tend to use them for different things. If I think I may need to carry the board at any point as an example, I always find myself grabbing the Exway X1 Pro (the deck is thicker, better balanced to carry, as well as just way more comfortable to carry). If it's just cruising around - esp if may be on sidewalks, etc then having the flexy deck and and full urethane wheels on the Stealth is key.
Nice video. I ordered a Verreal F1 because its supposed to be the same parts (they all use the same just with different logos put on them) as the other budget boards but its slightly cheaper lol... I always wanted to diy a board but it costs so much to even build a equivalent to a meepo so I'm just going to pull my Verreal parts off and put them on my deck if I dont like the deck it comes with more. I wish I could have gone belts but the belt kits arent upgrade friendly which kinda defeats the point in a belt setup so I just went true budget and got a hub board. It claims its on sale right now but I think its one of those where it might always be "on sale" to trick people. Was like around 314 shipped, 350 better battery if anyone else is interested in maximum budget. Hopefully it doesnt suck, but I've heard their support is good. Still waiting for it to come in, I have a feeling its going to be a while lol.
Great video dude! I am in the market and ready to pull the trigger on an e-board. After a lot of deliberation i am going to wait for the new Exway flex which should be on the market around march. I am also from the UK!
do consider though that using a fast charger can, due to the higher rate of electrons flowing, can wear the cells down much faster than normal making your battery have a shorter lifespan in general
Please do a video on how well the brakes work. I'm in an area with alot of hills so a regular skate board is too dangerous downhill and obviously no good for uphill.
I’d be interested if you have a take on helmets - is a regular sb helmet good enough or should I go up to something like a ruroc or a lightweight motorcycle helmet?
Haha I watched this video after I built my DIY eskateboard... You have excellent tips for new boarders into the eskateboard scene like me... I decided to build my own because I can pick and choose all the components and know your own board inside / out. I ended up getting a Bustin sportster deck 35inch, Direct Drive motors, 10s3p battery, and hobbywing ECS. The total price was much less than a Boosted or Evolve $1200usd max...
@@BlyaCyka 25mph at second speed settings... Haven't dared to try top speed on the last setting... Seriously ppl should exceed 25mph on a skateboard lol
@@timoeugster7809 my first post says hobbywing esc. It's cheap and simple all integrated for 2 motors with the remote receiver built in. But after realizing how the hobbywing is so good already, I don't see myself changing it out
I'm getting a Revel Custom dual battery 4 wheel drive um, 38" board. 120mm wheels. It's going to cost around 1500 but it has a 20 mile charge and can get to 28 mph, but their separate motor that can be attached to any board is 700. I really though paying more would be better cause I get 2 motors and a board and bushing and wheels, the ones I chose.
I have a question if the battery dies can I still ride it like a normal board? And also can I guy an extra battery so when one dies just put the other one in
Hey man I have a one-wheel pints have you ever thought about trying out the one Wheels I was looking at electric longboards before I found the Pint and then I saw the one wheel and I knew I had to try it and I love it
A lot of people on the esk8 Facebook groups don't understand the value part. They see a board with the same specs as evolve and conclude that evolve is overpriced
I might actually create a video on this. I feel the same way. Spec on a website means NOTHING compared to actual real word performance, feel, quality and general value!
Considering it's a piece of wood with a couple of motors and a battery - it is overpriced. You can get a rally high spec electric bicycle for this price.
I had an evolve gtx, it fall apart after 400km ! It’s overpriced trash, wheels start falling apart, motor broke and the charging port of the remote was lose so the remote didn’t always charged even when the light was on!
Hey there, I'm looking to buy a meepo mini 2 for riding in a city , how expensive is maintenance of it ? I've saw they have all those wheels and parts , but do you need to buy like new wheels and hub motor wheels and bushings like every year ? Saw wheels comes for 40$ , hub motors wheels 80$ so it's not cheap if it needs often changing stuff , looking forward to drive it like 5 to 10km every other day
Their stock 90 mm wheels wore out pretty quick on mine (200 miles). My roads are bad (lots of rocks) and I weigh 200 lbs. I bought the replacement rear wheels at 100 mm and they are 1000% more durable. The front wheels seem very durable even though they take the most hits. I would say you might burn through a set of rear wheels in a year if you ride allot or the road surface is gravelly. Although, if you're light and good road surfaces I'd say the rear 100 mm wheels would last a very long time (I got a set for like 60 USA). Other than wheels I haven't replaced or repaired anything with my meepo mini 2 other than adding a tail guard.
I bought an exway flex and I can not use it like a regular board when the battery dies. I’m 240 pounds with gear on and I’m sure I will snap it with all my weight on the middle and it feels really weird when I tried.

Have you tried any backfire board? Exway is great, but knowing that the G3 from Backfire I’m not sure I would continue to say the X1Pro is the best under 1k. Just my opinion though.
I was looking towards the Skatebolt Tornado II it has great specs for being around 500 and the biggest thing is probably the weight, and a stiff board bc of the big battery that gives it close to 20miles range.. do you have any thoughts on it?

Thanks for the video. I have seen a lot of adverts for a summerboard - it rides more like a snowboard than skateboard. Do you have any thoughts or experience on that product?
Hey I live in London and was thinking about getting the meepo mini 2 because I’m a child I want a smaller board for going to school what do you think about this board for going on and off the train and going up small hills
George Coppell mini will feel less safe and will be less comfortable when riding but it is more portable. Look at the length though, will it fit in your locker anyway? And look at the weight and ask yourself if it is gonna be that big of a difference. If not then get a longboard for comfortability.
Hi, do you know where to test or try different e-boards in the UK/ London? I rarely found any store and if just offering one e-board or so. Would really appreciate if you know where to look :)
Hey i'm from the US my college is in the mountains and i was wondering what board you would suggest for me to get to my classes which are about 10-15 minutes from where i live.
Well personally I’ve had the halo board beast since the beginning of the year and love it. It’s pricey but but will take care of you for sure. It’s got good distance and speed, regenerative braking. I take it for 30 hour rides pretty frequently and holds up great
I have never had a skate board but I am looking to buy one I have used one once and know that I don’t shan’t a short board and I’m going to use for fun and I’m not sure what to buy
DKwan on RUclips has some great reviews and suggestions. I have a Wowgo 2s and am upgrading to a Wowgo 3. It is very similar to the boosted boards in comfort and stability.
Any board advice for a 280lb man? I'm looking at Bajaboard mostly because it looks the most stable. I'm 55 years old and want to keep falling to a minimum. I also like their programmable remote to allow for different power outputs. I'm having trouble pulling the trigger on a $3500 board but I don't really see any other options. I'll be cruising, commuting (4 mile ride to work), and as I gain confidence I'll be trying offroading. Any advice would be appreciated.
I hope someone responds I currently own a wowgo3 and I love it I wanna get another board this time a belt driven one my budget is 1200 is the wowgo at2 good? Or can anyone please help me find a board that's is good for the price I'm paying I live in california by the way
Hey Chris, I just got the Wowgo 2S for 379 and it's actually really great for the price. It's great to learn on and I'm not terrified of trashing it becuase I'm going to upgrade anyways in a year or two. wowgoboard.com/collections/wowgo-board-3/products/wowgo-2s
I went for Meepo V3, absolutely love it. The guy before said Wowgo 2s. Honestly those are the two you should be choosing from for cheapest / best boards. If you want to spend a little more the Wowgo 3x is more waterproof, depending where you are. And the Meepo NLS pro has that flexible deck which is being talked about in this video.
Hi, what details do you use to communicate with Exway? I need some more parts, their email is pinging back "does not exist" messages, and they've not responded for a few days on Facebook. I'm also in England.
average eskate reviews rather like meepo boards. You should have a go on a meepo nls pro, might change your mind. Have a gtx, had a flex 2 and a nls pro, rather go with a meepo over a slick rev any day. Half the price and twice as good.
after doing some research, i’m confused. are electric skateboards illegal to ride or not? or put another way, will i actually get in trouble? I obviously dont want to buy one if i cant use it.

Thanks for the video. I have seen a lot of adverts for a summerboard - it rides more like a snowboard than skateboard. Do you have any thoughts or experience on that product?
One of the best skateboard reviewers! really enjoyed your vids! I'm doing a PhD in Cam. Ever had any problems driving around here?
Thank you! Never had any issues in Cambs
Hey I live in London and was thinking about getting the meepo mini 2 because I’m a child I want a smaller board for going to school what do you think about this board for going on and off the train and going up small hills
George Coppell the go for the Wowgo kt it is a much superior
Sam Wilkinson thanks what about the mini I was thinking of that because it’s smallert
All the wheels pretty cool....what's the brand ?
Great video, what do you think about TEAMGEE H20T ELECTRIC SKATEBOARD WITH RUBBER WHEELS
Great points I just subscribed to your channel but I have a question what do you think about the Vestar V2 pro I’m considering the belt version
Most helpful video ive ever watched
If you want more balance at high speed put more weight on thé front of your board 🙂 he talks about it on 5:00
I have an ownboard w2 and I love it. My favorite thing besides my pc
Hey i'm from the US my college is in the mountains and i was wondering what board you would suggest for me to get to my classes which are about 10-15 minutes from where i live.
You should bye a torquer board if you live in a hilly area and your in college so a short board is probably better.
Well personally I’ve had the halo board beast since the beginning of the year and love it. It’s pricey but but will take care of you for sure. It’s got good distance and speed, regenerative braking. I take it for 30 hour rides pretty frequently and holds up great
How well do these perform on train over passes? They're on my way to work and it's steep and long since its more than just 1 track.
What cam you use while skateboarding drone?
my question can be stupid but I just wanna make sure... you can still using the longboard for max speed downhill ?
Anyone know the 4:55 longboard name/type/ or brand. Looks nice and might do some research on it
What you think about the onewheel skateboard
Very helpful review Thankyou very much 👍🙏
Any board advice for a 280lb man? I'm looking at Bajaboard mostly because it looks the most stable. I'm 55 years old and want to keep falling to a minimum. I also like their programmable remote to allow for different power outputs. I'm having trouble pulling the trigger on a $3500 board but I don't really see any other options. I'll be cruising, commuting (4 mile ride to work), and as I gain confidence I'll be trying offroading. Any advice would be appreciated.
Ecomobil ET2
makes me want 3 more esk8 boards!!! but to be fair DIY is the way to go for a real battery powered murder board!
I hope someone responds I currently own a wowgo3 and I love it I wanna get another board this time a belt driven one my budget is 1200 is the wowgo at2 good? Or can anyone please help me find a board that's is good for the price I'm paying I live in california by the way
Excellent video, thanks!
I wish I could find a used affordable e-board.. im getting 2 so idk what to pick
Hey Chris, I just got the Wowgo 2S for 379 and it's actually really great for the price. It's great to learn on and I'm not terrified of trashing it becuase I'm going to upgrade anyways in a year or two.

Excellent review very informative
Hi, what details do you use to communicate with Exway? I need some more parts, their email is pinging back "does not exist" messages, and they've not responded for a few days on Facebook.
I'm also in England.
Good review man
Hello, I’m intersted in the Yeeplay m1. Does anyone know if it’s any good?
Love short boards, meepo mini v2p is amazing. Nearly two years and not one issue with my little meepo. Don’t want to take my gtx shopping, way too big
Sw same here! I used to commute on a penny board! The mini x is perfect
Meepo is horrible. Not sure what else to say
average eskate reviews rather like meepo boards. You should have a go on a meepo nls pro, might change your mind.
Have a gtx, had a flex 2 and a nls pro, rather go with a meepo over a slick rev any day.
Half the price and twice as good.
what are the wheels he has on the exway board behind him?
Which will is better distance the flex riot it pro riot
Great advice man, thank you
hi, I'm getting the meepo mini 2 do you think thats a good board
Meepo is a GREAT budget choice. I personally don't enjoy the mini boards, I would get one of the full-sized ones that Meepo offers.
Hey bro what do you think of Skate Bolt Board ? I have one Have you heard of it?
after doing some research, i’m confused. are electric skateboards illegal to ride or not? or put another way, will i actually get in trouble? I obviously dont want to buy one if i cant use it.
Another great video!
I’m a new electric skateboard rider and I’ve only ridden a Phoenix Ryder and it dies pretty quick. What are some cheep fast and long lasting boards
Look up the wowgo 3 bro awesome board for great value
