- The one and only Louie Anderson performing at Rodney Dangerfield’s 9th Annual Young Comedians Special in 1984.
Rodney's eye for talent was unmatched. In his 9th Annual Young Comedians Special on HBO, he introduced rookie Louie Anderson to the national stage for the first time along with Sam Kinison, Rita Rudner, Bob Saget and Yakov Smirnoff.

Just heard of Louie passing away so I ran to find this clip. What a legend.
He was an immense talent. What a loss. He did regular guy humor that everyone could identify with and did not make it trash. God Bless him!
That flew under my radar, no one was really talking about him passing. RIP buddy.
I didn't know your comment is the first I heard of this news. Wtf
RIP Louie
@@Forevertrue No pun intended?
You ran?
Two comedy greats! Rest In Peace Louie, you will be missed.
RIP Louie love you ❤️
Completely underrated comedian. Louie
He is still around, and still funny.
Used to like be his cartoon when I was a kid
I heard that 😊 favorite line by his dad in the cartoon, jokes going out in sequence lol.
He's probably one of the hardest working comedians out there bar none
By who? You?
RIP to a legend - I didn’t know he’d passed until I looked it up after this video, but he’ll be missed
Louis Anderson was quietly an outstanding comedian
RIP, Louie! I was just watching this right after Bob Saget died. So many great lost comedians in this special. Thanks for the laughs, Big Lou!
Saget was "okay"...LOUIE WAS GREAT!
I went to one of Louie Anderson's shows in 2019. He was really good. He talks to the audience like a friend. He had a rough upbringing, but is able to turn the stories into humor.
34 years later Louie Anderson is still alive and making people laugh!!
He dead
Sadly he passed today.
not anymore
Sure about that, Chief?
THESE RESPONSES!!😂😂
The sad thing is that he isn't even that big by today's standards.
I think he IS the standard. ( God bless him anyway)😀
I think both of you are discriminating against fat people. So just think about shutting your man pleasers. I just assumed you don't mind me judging you for those sweet lips of yours sugar britches.
@@REVERSESARCASM what are you one of those gays?
I think y'all just answered each other's question. Classic.
Aaron Woodcock found the fattie fat fat🐷🐷
Rodney introduced so many talented comedians!
Talent recognizes talent. ;)
I love this as much now as I did when I was 11. R.I.P. Louie.
RIP Louie YOU WILL BE MISSED
RIP Louie :( One of the best.
Loved Louie’s set, and I loved when Rodney came out at the end like a proud mentor and saw him off the stage!
Louie had his own cartoon, nuff said!!
So did Beavis and butthead. Just saying
unknown unknown fair enough lol
When you get discovered late in life like Rodney did you want for that to never to happen to anyone else. So he made sure that he gave a chance to the young.
Rodney did not get ' discovered ' later in life, he got famous later in life. He used to kick it in NYC with Lenny Bruce and the gang.
Watching this in mid-Jan 2022 and already three of these “Young Comedians” have passed. RIP Louie, Bob and Sam.
Always a treat to see Rodney and the way he promoted young talent!
This one special broke in:
Bob Saget, Roseanne, Sam Kinison, Louie Anderson.
Louie is one of the best to ever do it, and not enough people know.
Classic days of comedy. Classic days period, really. Long live the 80’s.
Love the comedians! But hell ! Bravo to Mr. Rodney Dangerfield! To give him self up like this ,to help other comedians… What a human being ,thank you Rodney you’re the best.I give you all the respect of a true American ! Thanks again ! Miss you ! Such a great person....!
My friends and I used to go to Dangerfield‘s down in the city in the 80s. What a great place, some amazing up-and-coming names. Saw Andrew Dice Clay there, Sam Kinison send Jerry Seinfeld. Sam Kinison was hilarious, Jerry, not so much… I so wish I took the opportunity to go see Louie out in Vegas. Makes me think that I will should see the other greats while I have the opportunity.
This is pure stand-up. Played clean too.
Louie Anderson always destroyed with stand-up comedy unbelievable absolutely hilarious. Rodney Dangerfield gave so many people such a big break that's like introducing more people into Automotive work when you're already mechanic and he was happy to get young people on into comedy he love to do it. Rodney Dangerfield was a stand up man everytime I see him I miss him he could truly make me smile. Louie Anderson was the first fat man in comedy a master at his craft
Dangerfield was the best. I had a chance to see him last time I was in Vegas. I passed and he ended up dying not long after. I regret it to this day.
I think it’s cause Rodney didn’t make it big till he was 40 and knew that selling aluminum siding sucked dick. So he wanted to elevate others out of that as well
Jackie Gleason ring a bell?
Jackie Gleason??
Thank you, Rodney. you introduced many, Roseanne, Jim Carrey, Tim Allen, Jay Leno, SO many more. We miss you.
R.I.P. Louie Anderson and Rodney Dangerfeild
one of his best lines - a lot a people don't like to admit there are crazy people in their family but they must be coming from somewhere.
Imagine these two gems trying this today, in 2018?
Always liked Louie, great humor with no bad language.
I remember sitting in my grandmother’s basement watch a bootleg of this video that a deceased friend and his brother Billy brought over. We smoked a couple of doobies and laughed for hours watch on great comic after the next. We always used Anderson line “Are you on dope” every time we’d see each other, and of course the follow up line, “Then give me some”. I sure do miss both Louie and my friend that brought over those videos. 😢
I remember that cartoon Louie Anderson did when I was a kid, but this was the first time I saw his stand up.
Morgil he also had a summer Camp cartoon series in the eighties
I remember Life with Louie it aired on Fox Kids in the 1990's.
@@hatednyc that was John Candy, the other funny fat guy…
RIP Louie I remember you since the 80s when I was a kid.
I like how Louie kissed Rodney good night on the cheek. Louie showed a touch of class there!
4:47 minutes of Rodney Dangerfield and Louis Anderson is better than 5 seasons of SNL. Think about that.
Nameless_Horror -thought about it... absolutely agree. 👍
So true...I finally gave up on SNL this year. I only watched the last five seasons for Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett anyway.
Yeah, it’s hard to laugh when the host does nothing but bitch about politics and cry.
Such a great set. I remember seeing this first-run on HBO. Laughed my ass off.
James, it's good to do that, I know it dropped some stressed off you too ?
What a great set! Crushed it!
Did he sit on it?
I opened the comments to this comment expecting it to be a fat joke... Was not disappointed.
Was that an intention or unintentional pun? Either way Louie would have made a joke about it!
Rest In Peace Louie!
This week hes washing lettuce, next week it's the fries...
McDowells I'm liking it
And that's when the big bucks start rolling in 😂
Mcdowells.
@@burrob78 lol you'll have to forgive me been a while since I watched it.
Not arches tho
I've loved Louie for a long time, and remember when he first became famous. Then I read his book "Dear Dad" and loved him even more.
He was phenomenal. RIP Louie 😪
I was cracking up after all these years. Love these guys!
so glad someone posted this. That entire HBO special had some great comedians who were really at their best. This one's a gem.
It's been so long since I have seen Louie Anderson do stand-up that I had forgotten how great he is.
And I had an Uncle that looked quite a bit like Rodney Dangerfield, he passed 50 years ago, and his family misses him dearly.
I love when comedy didnt have boundaries and we could all poke fun at each other without people on the internet having a meltdown.
But, it's a few easily offended cock suckers who can't take a few comments - most people couldn't give a wet wank about controversial and touchy subjects. Too busy shitting themselves about how fucked their own lives are to worry mostly.
Uh... this is tame compared to today's standards.
@@austenhead5303 I totally agree.
I’m triggered by this comment 😤🤣
Yah..like when folks would say...shut your man pleaser and realize that is all women are good for.
Saw this when I was a kid. It's still funny. R.I.P. Louie.
Just finished relistening to Maron's episode with him and him talking about this set and Rodney and Kinison. Such a great comic, man
Rest in piece to this absolute legend
Saw him in Las Vegas; thought I'd die laughing.
Some friends and I always wanted to see him in person. We swore we'd bring sweet potatoes and throw them on the stage...
His work on Baskets is incredible.
What a great legacy. Making people laugh long after your gone.
Enjoy that buffet in heaven Louie.
Jim Carrey sent me here. Bless you by the all who blessed us with absolute gold in the era of genuine comedy for the ages.
didn t know louie was so good...
What he didn't realize that he was getting by somewhat comfortably before Family Feud called.
krayzeejojo He wasn't bad at that either. He's no Richard Dawson though
I think as he got bitchier and more feminine he got less funny. Still, I'd like to have seen him put that wit to more than fat jokes...
He's absolutely brilliant in that tv show "Baskets" check it out if you haven't yet!
Totally! 1st time I've seen it. Great
Even though I was born two years after this, I grew up loving them and watching these legends.
You just KNOW it's the 80s when the best way to end your set, is with a joke about "dope"!
And punk rockers.
Omg this is priceless. Legends
Louie was so "Cute" when he was young... And he was really a Nice man. RIP Louie....
Louie Anderson was near Rodney before laid to rest. RIP RODNEY 1921-2004. RIP LOUIE 1953- 2022
Sad to hear that Louie Anderson have passed away. May yo urest in peace, thank you for everything.
Rodney is a great host and Louie is always so funny and likeable.
Miss both of these guys a whole lot.
I remember watching that back in the 80s on HBO. When you look back at that and how many comics got they’re start there, it’s surreal!
I laughed hard at that skit back then and equally as much just now!
I’ve heard this particular set up from Louie before, but EVERY time I hear it it’s like the first time hearing it. He had such great delivery. RIP
RIP Louie much love
RIP Mr. Anderson Thank you for the laughs.
Miss ya Louie. You too Rodney.
Damn we've lost some great people. It's hard to watch these and try not to cry while you laugh.
Wish they could still do jokes like that! Love it!
Everyone is fat now. It would be insensitive now
Self depricating humor is fine, its when others are laughing at you instead of with you when it's wrong. Comedy is not consent lol.
@@MLBlue30 keep that whiney crap in your feminist discussions, and away from normal people.
RIP Louie January 21, 2022 😥
“You think he knows he’s that big? Like I woke up one morning and said “Oh no!”
😂😂😂😂😂😂
RIP Louie
Louie is great.
RIP Louie Anderson
Rodney why for you die and my man Louie any one remember. Life with Louie great cartoon
“Until I got a little older, a little smarter, and a little brother.” Lol as the oldest this is so accurate.
That's the thing about Louie, humor from real life
Nice to see young Christine Baskets working the crowd
Nobody wants to admit they have crazy family but they come from somewhere
Can't replace these guys.
RIP Louie.
Rodney was the king!
He has won 3 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for playing Louis Anderson and Andy Anderson for Life with Louie, Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for playing Louis Anderson and Andy Anderson for Life with Louie and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for playing Christine Baskets in Baskets: Season 1.
let me move that so you can see me I'm dieing of laughter at my computer
He was great. RIP Mrs. Basket
back when talent was alive....miss those days
Life with Louie!
Rodney was the best!
Rodney & Louie...Classic!!!
Rest in peace my good man 😍
50 years of Louie ! We were so very lucky !
Wow Louie has been around for ages.
RIP Louie
This is the exact same schtik as when he was on Carson, but it's still funny as hell.
RIP Louie! 😢
I just loved Louie Anderson.
Such a funny comedian and such a great actor! It was easy to overlook Louie with everyone dying around the same time and even the same day but he’ll be missed by many he was always regarded as a super kind caring guy
“Are you on dope?!?, well then Gimmy some!!!” Lol I’ve remembered that for decades but couldn’t recall who from?
Hey buddy can you help me out with a sandwich? Sure, where is it? LoL!!!
RIP 1953-2022
I loved Louie 🤩
And Rodney too.
While I never had anything against adult humor, but I always admired how he could be so hilarious without being dirty or cursing. One of the most talented standups of all time! R.I.P. Louie.
Love you Louie!
