He absolutely did get admiration and fame right up to his dying day he was being revered. He did so many things in his lifetime and all he had was 3 goals for himself and surpassed them all!
If a comedian can make you laugh without cussing and swearing (which is rare) You've got a talent. Louie is that guy. And a true gentleman. When I was younger I used to work on Crescent Heights and Sunset in Hollywood at a pizza restaurant delivering pizzas. And Louie would call in. And I would make my delivery to his place. Every time he gave me a great tip, and was a gentleman. I'll never forget that. It seems like the people who were brought into money were the assholes....And the ones who struggled and made it big were always the generous ones. Thank you Louie
I remember so well seeing this on HBO back in the 80s, it’s still hilarious. He was so funny. Found out this morning he just passed away at 68. Poor Louie. I hope he’s in Heaven right now driving that Bonneville.

This is my favorite stand-up comedy routine of all time! I remember watching it with my mom when I was a kid; she had taped it on VHS and we watched it dozens of times. For decades, Louie's jokes were running jokes in our family. Like, "Cindy, I'm swamped!" any time we were slightly inconvenienced. And "LIFE... Live it" among sooo many others. My mom bought his book of letters to his father. I read it as a teenager and cried. Louie Anderson was one of a kind. God bless him. I'll miss him. ❤

Comedic Genius! Very few people can bring the terrors, and utter blissful moments of life together, and still create hysterical laughter like Louie Anderson can. He can, because he makes it so relatable. His encore scene in this stand-up is total genius. I found myself laughing and crying at the same time. All the friends and family I have known in my life, who have been drunks, alcies, winos, came back to me. A tear dropped, a smile cracked. Thank you Louie. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Louie is from East St. Paul. He was childhood friends with my step dad. My Mom and him went to go see Louie preform at a Casino, and right after he noticed my step dad and said " Hey John hows it going? We should get the neiborhood guys together get a hold of me" It's rare when someone makes it that they stay the same like that. Only Louie and Sinbad can pull off clean comedy at this level
Yep, it was kind of daring for Louie to do this long routine for an encore, as it's more an actor's monologue than a series of jokes. He pulls it off and the audience stays with him- love the "If I had a minute for every dime I did it I'd be happy!" line in particular.
I've never heard any of Mr Anderson's work, but I am now a diehard fan. I didn't think there was a comedian alive who could serve up wonderfully funny comedy without a single curse word and/or violence.....I am absolutely impressed! Thanks Louie!
