With all the serious illness at the time killing people, can you just imagine how many poisoner's got away with murder.
Yeah, if illness was sweeping through your neighbourhood it was the ideal opportunity to bump someone off without suspicion.
Exactly John Dee....
@Pretty Princess P P And we'll see 'you'...in the next....BREIF CASE. (LOL...KIDDING!)👻🖑
Blackadder; "this isn't the 19th century any more, you can't just kill someone and blame it on Cholera".
@@Adrasdea Lizzie Borden's step mother appeared to be causing, at the very least, severe illness by forcing the family to eat rancid meat.
I'm amazed anyone in Germany survived this woman.
Was she related to Hitler
😂😂😂😂
I can't stop laughing 😆
Yes, she's one nasty piece of work

The year after Gesche was arrested, Arsenic sales in Bremen plummeted by 98%.

Kinda like how John Wayne Gacy tanked the clown industry.

Four minutes into the video - "Yep... another poisoner." Six minutes.... "A very prolific poisoner." Eight minutes.... "Jesus, who DIDN'T she poison? And how the hell did anyone not suspect her long before this?"
Yes, after the first husband she seemed to have acquired a taste for murder. It was a means to an end. After the brother's death she seemed to have come to enjoy it. By the time she had become a housekeeper she had become dependent upon it. She could not stop even when under suspicion and the authorities bearing down on her.
Didn't anyone, noticed that GESCHE, never got sick!
Such a good question.
Duh???
She was the Angel of Brennan. God protected her.
Man, this is the first time I lost count... what a story!
Lets skip the marriage and honeymoon and go straight to the murder and inheritance
🤣🤣🤣👍🇮🇪
Yes, she couldn't wait.
I do think she was insane, and spoiled. She's getting singing and dancing lessons and fighting w/everyone at home as a child.
😄😄😄
Midas had the Golden Touch, Gesche had the Arsenic Touch!
Love your comment
OMG as soon as BC said the first “terrible stomach pains” I thought oh no, not another one!
Was quite proud of myself picking that one up so early, until I remembered I was watching a video called "the dark and sinister case of serial killer Getsche Gottfried", which rather gave the game away.
Lol, I said almost the same thing before I saw your comment !
"If no one suspects you, murder is easy." Agatha Christie~
Yao Mart OMG That’s Miss Marple! I think Ms Christie drew some of her inspiration from the news because as I am watching and listening I seeing similarities. Also that’s from Murder is Easy which if I am not mistaken is a play. I have some books on Audible and am watching the series. I can’t tell you how confused some of changes from book to show have me.
That's only true for contacted killers. The murder of someone from the nearest social vicinity is never easy. And it's never easy to get away with it. And Christy told fairy tales far from realistic.
OMG, I haven't heard the authors named Agatha Christie in years. I was obsessed with her books. In the 80s. Thank you for taking me down Memory Lane ❤️
@@ritawashere5787 - You're welcome 😁 ! And yes, we don't hear much of her anymore. I guess her picture of society is seen as outdated but characters and series are still designed after her most famous invention Miss Marple.

Spartan 91 200+ years later...nothing has changed. Women get away with way more. The moral of the story is... yeah, I don’t know....I think you’ll just be screwed no matter what unless you already have a women. And if you do... don’t piss her off. Lol. 😎

I would hate for there to be a quiz at the end. Question: Who was the woman that took care of their loved ones while sick but secretly poisoned them? lol
The scary thing is, how many Gesche Gottfried's were there who were never found out.
Not very many.
Most people don't like murdering.
Perhaps sickeningly, after about the first four or five casualties, I found myself first snickering and ultimately cackling with laughter louder and louder with the announcement of each fatality. And then..:. I died. Of laughter! Your delivery here is priceless!
Thanks
She's just killing everybody. Damn.
Yup.
Four minutes in and I've nearly lost the bodycount lol
She gave no fks at all
@greenmean1 Maybe so, but one of the symptoms of Cholera was severe stomach pain.
@greenmean1 These days, yes. Back then though, people were too naive and refused to believe that people who seemed as kind and compassionate as Gretche would be capable of murder.
Oh goodness, I lost count of how many she killed. She nursed everyone to death 😆
Me too. I
gave up counting after it reached 38
She was just a serial killer queen. 🤔🤔🤨
Her children died, It reminds me of Susan Smith, the woman who strapped her children into their car seats and let the car run into the lake so they drowned. Only the claim. Somebody carjacked her. The Woman by the way is still in prison and got a prison guard fired because she was having sex with him and exposed how all the prison guards are having sex with the women prisoners. She seems to be a real problem prisoner. , and she will be up for parole. In about a year. She got 25 years to life. I can't believe it's already been 25 years. Also, I remember when she was first in the news back in 1993, and I thought she was so ugly. Now to look at her mugshots. As she's older her prison shots, She looks like better Oh, so I guess it's not hard for her to find love. .
@Mr Spud it's wild and strange that anybody would want to be her pen pal. Unless they just want to get inside of her mind. I just saw something on TV Oh, it was on dr. Oz. One of the prison guards at her prison was fired because they had an affair.
@Mr Spud So many weird people in this world.

Even the music teacher? Damn girl.
@A Person
Good one, xD
@A Person she envious cuz the teacher doesn't look like a haggard looking hag like her lol
hey at least it wasn't her painting teacher, we both know how Germans and painting teachers react with each other
I don't know whether to admire the cold, calculating ruthlessness or despise the evil that motivated her. Using charity as a shield to mask her intentions was actually a stroke of genius in a way.
I've always been fascinated by the dark side of the human mind as I think it can teach us a lot more about ourselves. And this channel has been a great help and source of education for me.
She never said why she liked to kill people. Maybe she enjoyed the sympathy and admiration. Could of had a mental illness. Agree, evil none the less.
You oughta, "despise it." but I see your point.
@@rachelled6763 People were unaware of so much about mental illness. I think you are right. She did seem to love being admired for how good she was and she must have needed that.
@@addie_is_me Thank you. Yes and many serial killers like to talk about their evil deeds once their caught and she couldn't stop for 3 years.
I am in fascination of her motivation to poison.
Was it spite , ...dark angel of anger lashing out ?
Why was poison so much used by her to kill ?
Did she enjoy the attention of pity at funeral proceedings?
Did she get a thrill by not being discovered?
that's scary. as if it wasn't disturbing enough that she killed anyone who blinked in her direction, she portrayed herself as an angelic caregiver, and watched them die closely and intimately- all the while knowing she was the reason for their fatal agony. even her own children...
The crimes seemed to have no real motive, except maybe a perverse sense of power or control.
Hers might've been a case of Munchausen Syndrome (maybe Munchausen by Proxy) wherein a person needs to be needed and to be seen as being an "angel of mercy" and a savior. - -Although those usually keep their victim(s) alive and in misery as long as possible, I think.
@@suet.r.4815 that's a pretty good analysis and theory
Sue T. R. She did get sympathy after all. Even called an “Angel”. I’m sure she also got charity. I think it’s a more extreme version of what we see in today’s world...if you aren’t an asset and aren’t feeding my wants (in her case, a better social standing and wealth), then she had no use for you. Isn’t that what people do all the time these days?
@@suet.r.4815 Seems like, right? She didn't have a financial gain but all that sympathy and respect for her charity work as well as loving care... Add to it that she felt her parents liked her twin better, and I think we have a plausible case for Munchausen by proxy.
Correct writing is Munchhausen.
Random Person : *Exists*
Gesche: *Kills Them*
“Would you like a last glass of wine?”

Mental note. When Gesche invites you to dinner, politely refuse. She’s a TERRIBLE cook...

Katie ha! Outstanding
@@kitwhitley816 😁
😂😂😂😂
I actually lost track of how many people she poisoned ......
I counted it was 15 people that she had poisoned.
Sherlock Holmes: "I say, Watson. Do you detect a pattern here?"
Watson: "My dear fellow, I daresay, quite a bit!"
This woman was quite clearly deranged. Her motives not even steeped in greed. Murdering her entire family, her friends, everyone, and for what? Her motive most likely only made sense to her.
It was likely munchausen by proxy.
I think she enjoyed it and took pleasure from it.
I don't know about that 🤔 everyone who stood between her and a comfortable life ...suddenly took ill and died. The pattern had obviously started forming by the time her kids took ill. Remember how she could marry the weathy winemerchant once unincumbered with children and elderly parents....or a brother who would have twigged one and possibly upset the status quo. I don't doubt a reputation of selflessly caring for so many didn't do her ego any harm either
I’m still trying to figure out where she was so beautiful at. 🤔👀
There standards were a lot different then lol. Even now theyre ever-changing. But im right there with you; i dont see it lol
I thought the same thing. For some reason I often disagree with the older stories version of beauty.
I guess at that time they considered haggard looking hag to be beautiful. 🤷♀️
Werewolf O. London, Esq. 😂😂
Trish Pipkins If that’s the case, I would’ve been a knockout! 😄
I must admit, BC, these old cases are just as interesting as new ones.
I'd say note interesting.
Totally agree with you mate love these stories..
Like current Rexburg, Idaho case!
I find these older cases much more interesting. Everyone lives these days, lame.
They're often more interesting as there is a certain creepiness to them.
Blimey, she was a one woman epidemic.
Yes Dan. An angel of death, so to speak!!
arent they all
Daniel Grigg: I was thinking that same thing.
With such a woman we don't need covid-19.
😂
Once she realized how easy it was, there she went. Killed everyone in her orbit.

Was absolutely everyone just daft back then or what?! My god, only the nursemaid had any sense at all and said, "I'm getting the hell outta here!"☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
My god, she’s the damned terminator! It’s astounding to me that it took someone so long to grow suspicious of her. She is in the monster’s Hall of game. BC, yet another outstanding presentation. @@reneedennis2011 Stay safe and have a blast!
7:21 - It says something about how common illness and death was at that time that it took so long for anyone to get suspicious of all these people dying around Gesche.
'Gesche self' away from her or suffer the consequences!
😂😂😂😂😂
She must have been insane , because in all that time no one even suspected her of murder .
To kill 15 people and still be thought of as a selfless , loving woman , eben in a time of death and pestilence, Means she was a adapt at blending in to her society expectations.
Dub?!
Sounds a bit like Munchausen by proxy, possibly she enjoyed the sympathy attention.
"Gesche greeted a complete stranger on the street and he responded kindly to her. But then tragedy struck again and he started experiencing strong stomach pains..."
Wouldn’t it have been fitting if the “last glass of wine” served to Gesche had been spiked with arsenic?
That's what I was expecting.. And then I got disappointed
@@annetaklmt3278 Same here. If SHE had fixed she would have died before her own execution.
What a monster in human form
A remarkable case. I recall a couple of other infamous female serial poisoners from the nineteenth century as well: Anna Maria Zwanziger, also in Germany, and Hélène Jégado in France. But the “Angel of Bremen” I’d never heard of before, so thank you!

All 3 kids and both parents, right before marrying a second time, should have been the obvious bit if anyone had been watching.
@@luckyspurs Yup. I agree.
