- The Hisense A5C and Hisense A5 Pro CC are the only two color E INK phones on the market. They came out around a month apart and side from tech specs, what are the main differences? The A5 Pro CC has more features, such as a dedicated speaker on the bottom, two microphones, a fingerprint module on the back and it is running Android 10, whereas the A5C runs Android 9.0

I am so impressed with the refresh speed, the colours are not the best BUT, 100% better than having just a B&W screen, thanks for the review.
Why dont you just take off the screen protector and use a matte one? I am very interested in getting this as a work phone

Because there isn't a screen protector lol it's using a glass screen not the typical epaper screen duh
It would be cool to see a comparision between Hisense A5 - A5 pro cc - Q5, to see EINK vs RLCD technology under different light sources and illuminations, to get an idea of transflectivity capabilities of this new RLCD technology

It has lasted me for years. As an owner of Yotaphones, I am very impressed with what Hisense has managed to do.

Can we get a video comparing the a5pro cc with and without the screen protector. I'm hearing conflicting reports saying taking off the screen protector does make a difference

Hi, Peter. Do you have any communication with distributors of E-ink phones for US? Do they know our 4G LTE bands? Up till now I was happily using my Yota II phone. Now T-Mobile require 4G bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 66, 71 with VoLTE.
Man if these had Google Play support I'd have one in my pocket now

Things we want to see improved on future color eink smartphones!
-More color and faster refresh rate if possibile
- Reflectivity! We need antiglare display, not glossy!! (Or at least antiglare screen protector that doesnt ruin the quality like that)
- Backlight: The front light is amazing, but at least a control to set it to a warmer tone for night!! (Can be just with a software update?)
- GOOGLE PLAY! Maybe the most important thing?
- Special COLOR MODE: In Windows, if you setup High Contrast mode it is amazing how you can simplify all the UI and buttons. Similar thing for smartphone? (Not only the launcher and system UI, but also on the apps)
Google Play is supported on many e ink readers. I think Google and Hisense haven't reached an agreement yet.

How does the black and white experience on the a5 pro cc compare to the a5 pro? Is it worth getting the a5 pro cc over the a5 pro if about 80 to 90 percent of my time would be spent reading?
Eink but not antiglare display it just doesn't make sense.
I haven’t watch his channel for long time after purchased kindle paper white and now starting to watch again because lost kindle and need to buy other one.
Great channel to find new products and see new interesting device but Its just crazy to see how much level of e ink tech is growing fast!

hisense Q5 can run doom :F you can use the Q5 as a monotir and run doom with out any problem the only downside is it s just black and white

is it at least splashproof? How robust is this in general? Because it ssems pretty neat, but not if it breaks with one bad rainy day or a slip of the hand

@@DanSlotea İ use my yotaphone. İ mostly use e-ink side. But sometimes I really need led screen. The led screen makes me more confident. So we sometimes need to see some pics and videos on led or amoled screen
本来打算买a5pro的，但是我现在改主意了。
I got mine yesterday and fell in love with it. It looks nice and clean, display is really surprisingly fast and very pleasant to look at. The colors are there. I looked at the picture of gamut and there is in fact only 6 real colors which could be easily distincted, just six pools of colors around the gamut and that's not good for lower contrast images but hey, I didn't wanted it for viewing photographs. It is grat for reading and I love the scrolling using the touch sensor. Also I got mate protection screen by default and have no issues with reflections. I just love it and hope it will serve me for years and by the time I look forward to see more phones with e-ink.

@@cafeadicto Oh, hey! Yes, it certainly is! I use it as a normal phone now. For the colors, there are more of them, I am just dumb because I had smooth mode on, on clear mode, which is the slowest, there are plenty of colors. Battery life life is from 4 days of my "heavy" use, like scrolling through facebook or reddit with some backlight on, to little more than a week when I don't use it very often. I read around an hour a day on it so it serves this purpose well. Some downsides are obvious, I don't look at videos for example, Which is actually a good thing because I spent a lot less time on the phone than I used to, same applies to socials. Screen appears laggy, my friend told me that he wouldn't get used to it switching from 120 Hz amoled phone. Also the speaker could be little bit better, it's not very good for enjoyable listening to music. The plastic that it is made of is matte and it is starting to show some wear even though, perhaps because, I care about it like for an eye. I didn't manage to buy flip case so I use that pocket type with ribbon and sliding it in and out takes its toll. Also the camera could be better but it is good enough for documentation and occasional use, I can send you a sample if you wish. What works really well is fingerprint sensor, it rarely misses. Buttons are comfy. Headphone jack works as intended. Connectivity works without problems although I keep it on 2G most of the time because I found out that 4G eats battery noticeably faster. Computing power and storage is kind of overkill in my opinion, I never needed more than 3Gb of RAM, all files, apps included, are less than 7Gb and I feel I don't really need so powerful processor for flipping pages :D. From the hardware side it is comparable to phones in the price relation of phones I can get here. All in all it fits my requirements for a readers' phone perfectly and I am satisfied with it.

What is the battery life like compared to the black and white a5 and a normal phone, I'm looking to get a phone where i can leave it and not worry about charging up all the time as I don't really use my phone
How really is it as a book reader?

The purpose of buying this device is to eliminate eye strain but eink does cause eye strain though they without led lights ....they should make eink with quality panels as similar to reading a newspaper

Paragliding for example (screen, battery, android, livetracking, textmessage and calls). Only baro is missing but there is a bluetooth.
You mean Google Play can't be downloaded?
@@christopherhorn8539 it's not just about Google play. You can't even get access to your RUclips account with app directly in this phone, which means you can install the app from somewhere except Google play with no problems, but it doesn't work on the phone
Will a service provider like Verizon let me use this phone?

ON he other hand hisense made an announcement early 2020 and now we have 2 revolution :
- fast color smartphone
- even faster rlcd
I don't care anymore about clearink saying maybe in 2022 they will release a device " for educational purpose" so not for you

It will be a hard sell, I think. People use smartphone as a media consumption device. Speed and display quality are very important considerations when people buy phones. e-ink screen just cannot be compared to AMOLED display. I think using color e-ink on smart watches may stand a better chance as you won't be using it to watch movies. Longer battery life and always on display are important consideration for smart watches.
E-ink devices dont cause eye strain, pain, etc. LCD and Oled does.
Not everyone uses their phone the same way though. For me, I need something with good battery life, a decent camera and a screen I can see in the sunlight as well as at night since I ride a motorcycle and use my current phone for GPS navi. This would be perfect. I could see this a great 2nd phone to take on days I know I'm gonna be away from chargers and power outlets but still want to take pictures and stay in touch on SNS.
The only things that keep me from buying this phone are the lack of Google Services, the shady processor (won't buy anything without Snapdragon) and the glossy screen (this can be solved with a matte protector, though).

There is absolutely no way of knowing the order status from you. Your website doesn't mention shipping estimate. Whenever it comes, it comes. There is no option to cancel. No phone or email support. E ink devices do strain the eyes though they don't emit blue light ....Hisense q5 is a great technology which uses no backlight no eink similar to an old Casio digital watch.This can solve eink refresh rate flickering and LCD eye strain issues... Hisense hope you keep manufacturing rlcds with color models and good quality displays....imagine playing PlayStation on rlcds no blue light no eink eye strain....just the perfect screen
e-ink dont emit any light. So what?
strain comes from your eyes not blinking while watching the screen, you can get eyes strain watching nature if you stare without blinking.
