- This C-17 was in town as support aircraft for a visit by the Vice President on 9/12/23.
Interesting tidbit - The C-17 can take off and land on runways as short as 3,500 feet (1,064 meters) and only 90 feet wide (27.4 meters). Even on such narrow runways, the C-17 can turn around using a three-point star turn and its backing capability.
Cool landing. Is there a video of this without the background music? It would be nice to hear the sound of the engines.
Why ruin the video with the silly music.
Thanks for the feedback about the music! We always opt for natural sound over music, unless it's a time lapse or something. In this case, the microphone was out for a few days when we captured the C-17, so the choice was music or dead silence :)

The C-17 Globemaster, which comes into Midway Airport every now and then, is the heaviest and tallest aircraft ever to operate at the 1927-dedicated airfield.
That was an impressive landing. Wish we could hear the roar of the engines.

Where this aircraft is parking in the Midway airport?
Several spots are options. Most often it parks on the North Triangle, south of 55th St and the Southwest Airlines hangars.
