With its fuel tanks topped off, Air Force One needs at least 10,800 feet of runway for its takeoff. Runway 6R is 10,885 ft long. Considering its range it was only a short distance, the tanks were probably not full.
Looked like a normal take off for a Boeing 747-200 especially since it's probably light compared to a regular passenger version.
I know. It did not look like it was going fast enough to take off.

Being a Brit this is only the 2nd time I've seen AF1....you had the best view there in your location, Kevin! Magnificent plane, take off and colours.

That is seriously the most stunningly beautiful aircraft, and your footage was fantastic!
It gives me the goose bumps and with tears in my eyes. Because I spent a couple of weeks working UNKNOWINGLY during the final production of Air Force One. In the late 80's. Boeing had listed this aircraft as one of the Middle East kings airplanes for safety reasons. At the same time, the media came out with the news that Boeing will be building Air Force One in the future.Later we found out these planes were done the day they were leaving the manufacturer airport for Texas.
It was until these particular planes were airborne on the way to Texas. We were told that the Air Force One planes were done n gone out of the factory. I was so proud of Boeing n myself for doing a patriotic job well done.
Then in the 90' as a Reservist officer I happened to be on the flight line at a military base. I got sectioned to go to service the radar on Air Force One as I was landing. It was a last minute just as the plane landed. The joy n glory of my life to serve.

Did you notice that from a certain angle, the front of the aircraft almost looks like a face complete with eyes, nose, and a mouth. Who it kind of looks like I won't say because they would send the men in the white coats to fetch me.😁
Makes me proud to be an American again. I didn't feel that way with Trump in the WH.

The pilots of the VC25 are masters. Probably the best in the field.
Absolutely awesome!. I just took off from LAX Tue. On the way back to Houston. Weather was rainy & stormy & windy but pilots were experienced! Airforce one's take off is stunning. We left @ 5:15pm & arrived in Houston @11:00pm. Got a chance to speak with both pilots to thank them.
On United. I say it again. That's a Big iron Bird! Big baby!

It probably is nowhere near MTOW - and 4 CF6-80C2s is a _lot_ of power for a lightly loaded 747-200B (which the VC-25 is, at its core).
@@davidfuller581 I agree. I do wonder if they don't keep it nearly full of fuel, in case it has to be unexpectedly pressed into immediate, unplanned, service. I know they can refuel in flight.
Hard to tell how much runway it used especially when video is with a telephoto and you can't even see the runway after the nose wheel is off.

I was a ramp agent at Sky Harbour Airport in Phoenix during the Bush 2 administration. It was always a trip watching Air Force One land and departing the airport. It was also great to be able to see the aircraft parked on the tarmac. AF1 is a beautiful jet.
I don't understand the physics of aerodynamics but the way an aircraft that size can take off so quickly is amazing . It's like the engines start and you blink and it's off the ground. Amazing.

It's only Air Force One if POTUS is onboard. Every AF1 takeoff I have seen had at least one or two fighter aircraft in close proximity, one leading one trailing. Did you notice those on this takeoff?

That was a cool and very noticeable yaw back into the strong southeast winds after pilot released the left rudder they were holding to counteract the crosswind during the takeoff roll and subsequent rotation. Great capture as always, Kevin.

So thrilling to see such a huge machine looking so effortlessly taking off. I imagine the pilot still has a sense of pride flying it. My favourite thought, is a harrier, I once saw at an air show in Cirencester….that was pure magic.
Beautiful airplane. Makes me proud.. Y’ll need to look up when AF1 landed in San Jose Costa Rica. That was spectacular! We were in Costa Rica at the time but didn’t go to the capital due to knowing there would be so much traffic!
