That was an epic coverage of the arrivals of both Marine One and Air Force One. Those five helicopters getting ready to land was something else. So was the departure of those five choppers, one of which was Marine One. The arrivals and departures of the airliners at LAX happens all the time, but Air Force One happens just once in a while.
Such a smooth touchdown. I guess we should expect nothing less.

Watched this live with you yesterday. I’m always in awe of the prep that goes into these arrivals. BTW, somebody asked on a super chat why the helicopters don’t just take off, and I think you misinterpreted the question. They were asking why do they bother going out on the runway to take off rather than just lifting off from where they are. Always wondered that myself, though I suppose part of it is that they’ve got a big flight to keep orderly. Cheers!
It’s according to ATC, not just anywhere. Chaos could ensue from not following taxi instructions on runways.

Do other aircraft always have to fly a certain distance away from AF1?
They completely close the airspace. No other planes land or takeoff for I think 20 to 30 minutes.

Very skilled pilots, makes me wonder why we don’t have better Army helicopters 🚁 or skilled military pilots. Way to many tragic accidents, it would never happen with the president helicopter pilots or Air-force One.

I think it’s wrong that the president disrupts a major us airport by his arrival when he could have easily landed at Edward’s and had marine one fly him to LA instead thousands of passengers had to get delayed because of this.
