    I like the looks of those Cats How are they in Blue water ? Would it be possible to build a structure in the middle like a helm and gally , leaving everything else for sleeping ? What about stabilizers on the keels could it be done ? Could it be turned into a Tri-moran on a budget ?

      There has been one Tiki 21 that has circumnavigated the worlds oceans. Several of the larger Wharram designed boats have removable pods but I am a builder not a designer and would refer all questions about major changes to the existing design to Wharram Designs. Safety and strength concerns are always present and major changes would involve more weight, materials and cash.

      @@RexandKathie just was thinking about combining 2 of them to make one really stabile vessel , cats and tri's are out of my price range but the plywood tiki i can afford !

      @@davekimbler2308 The Tiki 21 was designed as a coastal cruiser and is very stable and is affordable. We have learned a lot by viewing Wharram's website. Here are a couple of links to Some of Wharram's designs:

    Hi I'm a big fan of soft shackles, I use them for many things! but I'm worried that your eyes are a little loose. I can see they don't even close tight around the stopper, I think it would probably be okay if they stay under tension, but I don't see a reason to have them loose unless the idea is to make them easy to undo.
    I would also like to say that although I have no objection to splicing them, I usually just do them with a lark's head, because then I can use any rope, and use soft shackles for many things that don't need to be as strong as dyneema.

    • @RexandKathie
      @RexandKathie  Год назад

      Dominic, The first few we made were a little loose, hopefully will improve as we do more of them. You are right, probably making far stronger than they need to be. Appreciate you watching.

      @@RexandKathie have you seen the technique where you splice the braid back inside itself like a tube? That way comes up fully snug

    • @RexandKathie
      @RexandKathie  Год назад

      @@dominictarrsailing We tucked the splice inside the braid on the shrouds but haven't tried that on the soft shackles. We need to look for a video detailing that. Thanks.

      @dominictarrsailing Год назад +1

      @@RexandKathie just to clarify, I wasn't saying you were making them too strong! I don't want your rigging to fail! just that they are also very useful in many situations that don't require the strength of dyneema.
