that is a pretty sweet idea. Now I want to see one with different color construction papers epoxied together. Love your lure and the idea. Sweet little boat too.
I really enjoyed this video the last 30 minutes just slipped by watching you create a very pretty and effective lure. The use of newspaper was a great idea, I wonder if you could build a lure using old cloth and epoxy? Your skills with the the airbrush were a joy to watch and seeing you actually catch fish with the finished article was a bonus. Thank you for retrieving the lost line and tackle, as you said we as anglers have a responsibility to look out for nature and your care of the fish you caught was exemplary, many could learn a lesson here. Thanks for posting this excellent video I stumbled on. Liked and Subscribed from a happy English angler :)
Micarta is pretty nice because you could almost completely hollow out the lure and make it rattle / lighten the lure how you see fit. I gotta try it too.
Very nice. That's like Micarta. I've seen knife handles done that way using denim from old pairs of jeans. very cool! One tip. When working with epoxy, even after it's cured it's still a good idea to wear gloves during sanding. Over time you can develop an allergy to the resin in the dust. it can cause some serious skin reactions. Try to prevent that if you can.
Awesome video of lure making and fishing. Releasing the fish is always great idea. But just to help out these poor fishes I would recommend using so called "fish lip gripper". The idea is that injuring fish'es lip is not that big of a deal, while holding the fish by it's gills is equivalent of someone grabbing our lungs by hand.
it really depends on the type of fish, i would not do this to a salmon or a trout, pike have a "natural carying handle" and when you chin grib them like i did very little damage is done to them if you do it properly.
The material he made is called micarta it is the lamination of multiple layers of fabric/paper to create a useable stock. It is mostly seen in knife making for handles. But im guessing some one already told you that. Id also like to see you try and do a bluegill style bait it would be cool to see if you can copy it even though it is not a native species where you live.
What a lovely lure made out of paper and epoxy resin. Like all you're videos you have given me another idea, so will be trying next to make a paper lure, just wish I could do paint jobs like you'res. Can you possibly direct me to some books that show me more on the art of air brushing or, better still How about writing some books on the subject, am sure they would sell well. Thank you for such informative videos I have learnt so much from you.
Just try to put a bunch of newspapers on the hook, guess it will work on that lake))) lf seriously the lure is absolutely fantastic! You have fantastic skills man. We call this golden hands growing out of right place, here in Russia! Keep on and take care, use lipgrip as well))) Thanks for the video!
Its a cool build there Mikko. Maybe if you minimized the epoxy between the sheets you could make it weight neutral or even floating. Would you be able to cut details into it with a knife, or would you be able forced to use a multitool for all details?
Yep he's done it again what next on this mind boggling lure makers list of the extraordinary things . God and Mikko only know but I will being sure to tune in great stuff from the Finish fiend .
You are incredible, amazing skills I'm impressed every time.. It would be super cool to see the action of the lures you build. Maybe just next to the boat or something
its too bad that the water clarity is pretty horrendous currently and the action camera i use does not have the greatest image quality but you can kinda see the action little bit when i fish among the reeds around 24:46 anyway thanks for watching and checking out the video
Sorry about that back when i made this video i didnt have a clue how to clean up audio tracks. If you check out my newer stuff the audio side of things have improved quite a bit.
To be honest... I was gonna leave a negative remark about how marlinbaits was better and bleh bleh, and then I waited till the end and your personality came.out in the end and i really enjoyed it. Great video over all and i feel bad about my bitterness at first.
No worries man, glad you enjoyed the video. English is not my first language so bringing out my personality does not come as easy as it might for a native English speaker, so that part is still very a much a work in progress.
this is cool man, ilike to make old school lures. you need a scroll and a drill press uts time in half. but with what you got you did great.. awesome work
really really nice video and lure, but could you please work out these audio problems; the intro was only for my left ear, and the fishing part had a very annoying beeping in the background. I don´t know if this is just for me though
золотые руки и природа. не сомневаюсь, что щука там клевала бы и на китайские воблеры, но когда на своими руками сделанный - это в двойне приятно! если бы его увидеть под водой, было бы просто супер!
i realized that the water was really murky and cos i painted the back black you cant really see it well in the video anyways even when there is almost no wind. anyways the lure swims very much like a norman wobbler or a crank bait.
from Argentina: if you put your fingers inside the guts the fish will infect and die later .. so the release is not worthing ... that's my 2 cents for the fishing men. thanks for sharing your knowledge. that was a piece of work!
yeah Nate is a great lure maker for sure, i do have his address so perhaps somepoint i will actually have something worth while to send him and do a collaboration
Hi. Great lure! Some simple questions about materials. How much is the final thickness of paper-resin sheet? I suppose about 1cm, since you pair it for final size... How much is lead weight?
You are one of the best masters ... I hope you will not start making cats, squirrels, caimans and crocodiles .. please stay fisherman ... do not become one of those who live from you tube ...This is a great idea, and we saw fish think the same ..thank you for everything you did...
Im not going to limit my self to anything, if i want to do something weird like a cat caiman or whatever i will do that, that being said its not what i find interesting at the moment. Also whats wrong with making youtube as your career? Usually when people take the plunge to fulltime video maker the quality of the videos go up considerably.
it really depends alot on the water temps now that its still warmer i can get away with faster moving baits that usually sink faster too. what comes to what colors pike like i think its the same as with other species, different patters work better on different light situations, natural colors are a good medium i feel as it usually imitates what they are naturally attracted to.
I use the same kind of medical hemostat for fishing. :P Great video. I'm going to make my first homemade lure today with basswood. This seems like a great method as well.
You forgot to show the action of the lure here :( but i guess it was really good since you got that many fishes. And yea, i found you only now cause i got addicted to lure making videos not so long time ago :) really want to try make something myself but i feel that i need to invest so much but i cant cause thats one of the reasons to try make something (to earn, not to spend). oh well
main materials used in this video:
-news papers
-Mr. boat epoxy
-CAB coatings paints
-CAB coatings epoxy
-CAB coatings lure varnish strenght hard
-Lexan plastic for the tail lip
And what is the weight of the lead core? Thank you!
it was round 10g
stunning as always.
Where did you get those things that you drilled in the bait to attach hooks etc?
@valtteri aaltonen nimesi perusteella oletan että asut suomessa, noita silmukka ruuveja saa esim Samfishingistä, vaapputarvikkeesta tai vaikka kurre erästä
The pike really like that bait! Outstanding! 🎯😊👍
That lure looks absolutely amazing. I hope to be even remotely as good as you one day.
idk why but I really enjoy a fisherman who will pick up litter they cross. Awesome bait!
So satisfying when you catch fish with a self-made lure
I usually watch marling baits. Then I found your channel. The way you paint is amazing.
that is a pretty sweet idea. Now I want to see one with different color construction papers epoxied together. Love your lure and the idea. Sweet little boat too.
Love you man!
"Let's take care of nature for a little bit".
Love the lure :) very inspirational.
Nice job...love it when you include some fishing.
That’s very cool. Thanks for sharing. For catch and release you should remove the barb. It makes for a more challenging catch and a simple release. .
Awesome video as always! Love how you started showing you fish more that was a nice pike

Your craftsmanship and videos never disappoint my friend. I love watching these. Keep up the great work!
Great video! And extra ❤️❤️❤️ for cleaning up after others. I do the same whenever I encounter line, lures and other litter left by lazy fisherpeople.
Its always a good idea to gather garbage with you when ever you see them in a place where they dont belong. 😉
Micarta is pretty nice because you could almost completely hollow out the lure and make it rattle / lighten the lure how you see fit. I gotta try it too.
Beautiful lure. Fantastic job.
I would’ve left it how it looks at 13:45. Beautiful!

You are a true artist 👩🎨
Nice semi translucent body with that paper/epoxi laminate, gave it a really good depth.

I think you would be able to use a knife but it would not be ideal thats for sure, as this tends to be rather hard
Amazing craftsmanship and artistry! Nice work!
Nice. Hard to see lure action but it likely moves like a paddle tail. Great job, stellar painting & nice fish
I have a seperate swim test vid on my channel if your curious how it swims. The bait has pretty much like wobbler type of movement
At first I was skeptical but now I'm inspired!!
Yep he's done it again what next on this mind boggling lure makers list of the extraordinary things . God and Mikko only know but I will being sure to tune in great stuff from the Finish fiend .
hahah thanks for the encouraging words, sometimes i come up with good stuff too i guess.
YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME TO HAVE A GO AS IVE JUST BEEN DRAWING SOME MOCKUPS MYSELF...
wonderful, best of luck with your project
Go check out marlin baits they're both great marlin baits inspired me to start making baits just found solarbaits
Your talent is in the painting- spectacular!!!
thank you, i appriciate that
You are incredible, amazing skills I'm impressed every time.. It would be super cool to see the action of the lures you build. Maybe just next to the boat or something

Wow looks easy I can try. Good job 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sweet craftsmanship, loved this video!!
Very nice. Nice craftsmanship. I like the paper layup, but wonder if paper is even necessary. Do you think just a block of the epoxy would work?
Im gonna say maybe, its hard to know for sure since i never tried it myself
Nice work buddy but those fish are what we call slimy snakes and they all get thrown back. Beautiful work chum for sure. Your very talented.
Enjoyed watching you make and then fish your lure. I think I will try something similar but use thin cardboard
instead of paper.
sweet. your air brush skills are top notch
My God I thought my tinnitus hit a new stage of fucked up... but realized it was your video
Sorry about that back when i made this video i didnt have a clue how to clean up audio tracks. If you check out my newer stuff the audio side of things have improved quite a bit.
Show de isca artificial artesanal.
Parabéns você e muito inteligente 🐟👏👍

Very nice job and it really catches a lot of fish. Thanks for sharing my friend.
amazing talent my friend!! love seeing what you make next!
great job, but i would have printed out a coloured version of the lure to put on the outside as the first layer then you might not need to paint it
You are very talented. Great video!
I like it, but would’ve liked to see how it swam and how much the lure weighed. Nice work!
The lure is 60 g and i posted a seperate swim test video after this one where you can see it better
This is so cool, If I ever get a wild hair one day I think I’ll try to make one. And nice catches!
Man, you are an artist!
this is cool man, ilike to make old school lures. you need a scroll and a drill press uts time in half. but with what you got you did great.. awesome work
Good job 👍👍 I liked it 😊
Thanks for sharing
❤ from Turkey
Great lure you have made man from papers!!!!
really really nice video and lure, but could you please work out these audio problems; the intro was only for my left ear, and the fishing part had a very annoying beeping in the background. I don´t know if this is just for me though
If you check out my latest videos those issues have been fixed :)

I'm sorry but i have no idea what your saying, I'm not russian.
SolarBaits he would like to see him at work under water
Make a paper epoxy lure, check,do a sick paint job, check,go to the lake and slay the poor fish, check and make a awesome video, check awesome job bro
I'm just wondering why you are finishing it with epoxy of varnish?
Your Lure is very Beautiful. If I get a chance I really want get it that. Very nice,
Killer lure! i need one like this!
Very nice lure!
But when you started catching after the first cast you didn't show us the action of the lure. 😁
i realized that the water was really murky and cos i painted the back black you cant really see it well in the video anyways even when there is almost no wind. anyways the lure swims very much like a norman wobbler or a crank bait.
Cool, this is also known as micarta...also good for knife handles!
Joe Barauskas ahh cool never heard of that.
Except Micarta uses phenolic resins instead of epoxy and is stronger than paper/epoxy.
I've seen micarta made with strips from old clothes too.
Awesome work and very inspiring
Great work as always! I enjoy your videos!
Excellent work 🎣
Impressive build.😎👍
Looked interesting before the paint... wonder how well it would have worked with just some clear coat
there is only one way to find out, make one for your self and see if it will work ;)
excélente idée et vidéo bien expliquée , belles prises bravo c est a essayer merci a toi
from Argentina: if you put your fingers inside the guts the fish will infect and die later .. so the release is not worthing ... that's my 2 cents for the fishing men. thanks for sharing your knowledge. that was a piece of work!
That's the only place I see pike fishermen grab the pike is by the gils I thought it was strange too
Very nice. But Marling Baits all the way!!!!!! Maybe reach out and do a collaboration? One day make and fish!
yeah Nate is a great lure maker for sure, i do have his address so perhaps somepoint i will actually have something worth while to send him and do a collaboration
@@SolarfallBaits that lure right there is pretty bad ass! I bet he would feature it.
Hi. Great lure! Some simple questions about materials. How much is the final thickness of paper-resin sheet? I suppose about 1cm, since you pair it for final size... How much is lead weight?
I think about the total thickness is about 2cm i did not weigh the weight i put inside but i guess it was close to 10g
Big fan of your channel, quality is amazing but the creativity is next level 💯🙏🏼
hey thanks man i appriciate the kind words, i know i could still improve alot and thats partly what keeps me doing these videos
Do you use barb-less treble hooks? you got it out quickly with minimum stress to the fish :-)
the hook that i used for this bait is not barbless but i do use those when i fly fishing
Maybe cook a pike is all that's left, great work.
Beautiful lure!
Отличное видео!!! Обязательно попробую повторить в своей мастерской)
I must confess I haven't watched one of your videos in ages!
In the future please include a real time timer to estimate time to fabricate
I never count such things. Im too busy actually making the lure than timing how long it takes.
Wowww...amazing!!...
Nice work great fish
I like to know what model airbrush you use with your control trigger
I used iwata highline
У тебя талант. А талант как говорится не пропадает даром. You have talent. And talent as they say is not wasted.
Could you use this in a survival situation? Not likely but supposing you had the materials in a car crash remotely. Just how strong could this be?
Tanks and Critters tough question I have to say I don't know
Awesome job on the lure! Have you tried emory cloth instead of sandpaper to profile the lure?
He said a Ghetto trick lmaoo I love this guy
K the UN, XT g the XT g XT g

awemsome man ... lose te lure, break out in tears lol
The best tutorial
Where do you get those lure eyes? Do you make them too? They look great!
Amazing job man
Let me ask you a question , do you think that Rapala copied your design with peace of plastic on the tail of the lure on their newest jerkbait ?
Obviously no. Those types of baits have been out there even before i started making lures.
You should make a small water tank somehow so you can show people the action of the lower
if i had more room then sure why not but my current living arrangement does not really suit for such thing unfortunately :(
How was the action with the bill on the tail end? I couldn't see much of the action in the vid.
i did post a dedicated lure action vid after this one. so you can check it out from from my channel. thanks for watching ;)
Awesome, I'll check it out!
UNBELIEVABLE
absolutely love this bait!! Love your videos
How fast do your lures sink when you go pike fishing? Also do pike like any specified paint patter?
it really depends alot on the water temps now that its still warmer i can get away with faster moving baits that usually sink faster too. what comes to what colors pike like i think its the same as with other species, different patters work better on different light situations, natural colors are a good medium i feel as it usually imitates what they are naturally attracted to.
Thank you for helping me out.
The tail what you put is perfect also wich one is the road named cost thx you
That lure look good but more than 10gr. I dont know. When you drop it seems like 30gr. Maybe the rod make that happend
I use the same kind of medical hemostat for fishing. :P Great video. I'm going to make my first homemade lure today with basswood. This seems like a great method as well.
amazing work! u got talent bro! keep it up!
decent work.
This lure is almost too pretty to fish with! Well, Almost...
