Someone just put one outside the garbage I its original box with a sign on it saying it worked and included a desktop computer. I’m excited to set it up. What a good find!!
It’s a great vr headset. Just don’t get motion sickness, it truly is a horrible thing
@@MaestroColby I am so sad. I set everything up and I don’t think my computer meets system requirements. Can you help me? Do you know anything about the system requirements?
@@veronicascott9115 yes, I do!
What are your computer’s specifications?
@@veronicascott9115 I will be honest, your specifications do not meet HTC Vive requirements. The CPU is the biggest problem, and the fact you don’t have a GPU, makes it a problem too.
I’m sorry, if my wording comes off rude, I don’t mean to at all.
Hopefully this helps😊😊😊
@@MaestroColby definetly wasn’t rude at all!! Thank you for being straight forward. I had a bad feeling my specifications weren’t going to meet the requirements.
Maybe I’ll just sell this VIVE and put the money towards a used first gen Oculus or something since it’s a standalone VR cause clearly my computer sucks and I don’t have any game consoles.
Anywho I appreciate you so much!! Thanks for info
I’ll have to check out your other vids but did you do any reviews on the oculus ?
if it was the full Vive kit for 150, that's a steal right there with the Base Stations! I highly recommend the Index controllers for Boneworks
Very true. The index controllers just have a better overall feel and fluidity to them
Babe come quick, Colb did a product review!
Great video keep on going don’t ever stop, you are a natural for this!!
I just bought it 2 days ago for 150$ in full sett, the guy said it was a 2 weeks-old device he bought it from the store it has even warranty for 2 years and I have the bill I think it was a pretty good deal. It still has its plastic films he used it one time because of curiosity and decided to sell it because he needed quick money.
I still use mine today and the tracking is wayyyyy better than the quest 3 tracking
Way better. Even though IR LEDs are slower, they are more responsive
I think getting a preowned HTC vive today really is worth it, its less than half a brand new oculus and from where I live it's less than half even a preowned oculus quest 2
I own one of these, but the screen disappoints me quite a lot. The pentile display always looks fuzzy and smaller text is completely unreadable on it. For the rest, I don't have any complaints.
I own a quest 2 and htc vive 1.0 the 2016 version, from what i can tell using a high end gpu 6900 xt. So the quest 2 has a much clearer display when looking through it with the screen door effect being very minimal but the field of view feels more narrow think of getting more tunnel vision while the htc vive has a way bigger field of view but it really does look like your playing with a screen door in front of you even at max resolution. One thing that the quest 2 can't do is have full wand tracking where it doesn't lose the placement of your wands if you place them behind you while the vive base stations keep track of everything pretty well that even if you had your hands behind you the wands are still detected .
Amazing review bro.
Yeah the first Vive is still kicking in modern VR! Although if you want to buy one, make sure its controllers have blue ropes instead of grey. That's a second revision and it's quite a bit lighter on your head and has slightly better mic.
I never actually knew this.
Thanks for the great note!
i have my own mic and stick it with hot glue lol
After a recent pc upgrade, RX 7800 XT, Ryzen 7 5800x3d I picked up one of these for a similar price. Totally worth it! I tried vr on a previous pc and didn't have the horsepower at the time.
For someone who has been playing pc games since the 90's it's pretty amazing to me that I have virtual reality in my house.
Worth every penny
Bought vive in 2016, still working amazing... it is getting hot in there so make sure the room is cold for long sessions
From CeX in Dublin, a HTC Vive only costs 68 euro. Really cheap and I really want one. I already installed Steam VR So I could order it from Dublin to Cork. Thanks for showing me how to set it up!
Thinking about getting one of these to dip my toe into vr.
Just picked one up with a Wireless adapter - can’t wait to try it out
What’s your resolution on the ss slider
Bought a set that unfortunately doesn't have the premium sound add on, was like 200usd but everything's more expensive in my country than the US lol
Thank you for the upload
Thank you for the comment
6 and a half what apart?
I have a quest 2 now, but my cable broke and im looking to just completely replace the headset tbh. And use it as an on the go vr. Would you recomend this as a replacement?
Yes, if you are on a semi tight budget for playing vr games.
Like me, I bought mine for 150 dollars and I was looking for a headset that was really good but lower priced.
Hope this helps:)!
No. The screendoor is awful
It is terrible. I've had one since release. Good luck reading text farther than 1 foot from your face. SteamVR browser is basically impossible to use due to the resolution. I would say just get the quest 2 for $200. It is wildly better value
Hell no, just save up for a Quest 3. I could never go back to my OG Vive. That thing is terrible for mid to long VR sessions.
after watching this the used 130€ htc kit (with controllers and basestations)i saw seems a great deal! thanks for the video
Glad to help 🫡🫡🫡
You are a brave soul to start with boneworks lol It was the only game to make me motion sick but I couldnt stop playing. Luckily I got used to it after a few sessions🤣
Appreciate that!
It makes me motion sick all the time
Meh after experiencing Meta Quest 2 via Airlink for steam vr ya I'm not gonna get either a index or any kind of wired headset. My room is kind of small so a wireless standalone with the ability to hook up to my pc wirelessly is way better for my situation. :)
I have a question, can i play any vr game on steam or i need newest vr model for good games?
Good question!
You can play all VR games with this headset.
Just depends on your computer😊.
Hope this helps
Keep in mind it will look like you're looking through a screen door the entire time
@@drake9097If I had to imagine, you’d probably get used to it.
@@Incursion. it’s not worth getting used to for the price is my point.
@@drake9097 Maybe I need to experience it to really know what you mean. Luckily, I already have a headset that isn’t a vive that works fine.
Hi, i have this but can not figure out how to play 360 RUclips videos on. I have tried everything i can, downloading them offline doesn't work either. Any suggestions ? Thank you :)
Try using steam vr media player
Did you find a solution for pornhub VR?
Lol! Yea RUclips videos 😂😂😂
Sometimes for me the video starts in flat mode then I have to press a button and it goes vr ,but the video your playing must support 360 view ( most porn sites do)😂
Great Review!
Thank you so much🙏🙏🙏
I love how everyone who plays vr, for I'm guessing the first time lol, goes so silly.
Also if you are still responding to comments here, how did the controllers work for movement? Looking at buying a used Cosmos Elite (uses the same controllers just newer) and I just want to know if walking is possible, as my favorite type of vr game are the survival ones (The Forrest VR is perfect if you haven't played it you gotta try it
It’s pretty funny for the first time.
Don’t buy the HTC wands!! They are awful and can be subjected to all sorts of problems. The cosmos elites would be so much better than the wands. For that matter, any controller is better, but hey that’s just me :)
Hopefully this helps,
-CS
@@MaestroColby There is a person selling the cosmos elite in my area for 400, so the controllers are the HTC Wands.
@@missheepious make sure the Dpads are working on the controllers, those are prone to breaking
Just got my yesterday and i am very happy about it. I thought first get the Vive 2 but wasnt ready too pay 1.500€ euro so got the the first Vive for 300€ it works great 😊
What do you Play with it?
So far every Game that Runs VR
2024 playing Skyrim vr is better than my reverb because only 2 Other headsets has actually black shadows.
Yo bro,i had a good pc with rtx 2060 & i9-9900k, should i buy this one HTC vive 1? I feel quest 2 cannot carrying the graphic of my pc
might as well
@@misterjackkes If you struggle with the Quest 2 when using Quest Link, then get a new GPU. I'm not sure if the 2060 can handle the Quest 2.
@@gmdkinglmfao I have a gtx 1070 the quest 2 works perfect with it. The 2060 will handle with no problem.
@@misterjackkesthe og vive uses less pixels and runs directly through steam vr. Quest 2/3 require oculus to run in the background on top of steam vr causing loss of performance ever so slightly
I bought one of these at launch date, and i barely use it, at first i use it to show it to my family and friends, but ever since is collecting dust, havent had a chance to play it again, thing i didnt like was the screen door efect, recently ive been thinking in using it again or upgrading, what would you think it would be a good upgrade, htc vive pro 2, or should i wait for something else? ... On the orher hand i was looking at the PSVR 2... What are your thoughts?
A lot of people hate the Vive pro 2... The problem with HTC headsets now in general is that since Valve gone on done it's own thing... They un-partnered with HTC... The result is that any headset after the vive pro 1 runs on Vive port software instead of natively on steamVR... There are also problem with the headset it's self..
@@mangakey thanks for your reply, and that right there is a deal breaker for me, so i preffer getting an valve index, cause i want native support of steamVR, probably i should get PSVR 2 and wait to get Valve index 2.
super sample it to get rid of the screen door effect
@@Douflen thanks! I Will try that!
So what get the vive pro in 2023?
does it support full body tracking? I bought mine for 315$ and i am receiving it tomorrow
With the right tools, yes.
Yep if you got it with 3 trackers the dongles and straps sure... that's what i did..
Still worth it for budget vr pc build
i want one badly even though i have a quest. one reason for the cool factor
You do know it is possible to play pcvr games on quest 1/2
Yeah I have an HTC Vive and wish I had a quest this thing is not great for me at all
I just picked one up for 100$ today.. It's pretty good came in box and everything very little wear from some guy near USC...
Ebay sucks for these.. Most sellers are asking for around 300$ and some even 400$!!...for complete kits
Best place to get cheap is local... Another guy is selling one near me in unknown condition but says working with everything for 120$
Is is better than the quest 2?
@@cameronmills7429 Short answer is no... Long answer is for some stuff it's OLED has wider FOV and tracking is more accurate than quest 2 tho.. I'll say the controllers on the Quest 2 are better overall . but If you pair the OG Vive with some index controllers and deluxe audio strap. Then yes I recommend it over the quest 2 but that cost more money..
Maestro Help Me Please! I took a chance on buying this thing because it was ONLY 50 BUCKS and set up perfectly. Same exact one as yours here on the video. But my problem is nomatter how much I try to start any, I mean ANY game, it just freezes up and resets back to the Viveport menu:( idk if it matters that it's being ran from W11 but help from anyone would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Uninstall vive port and simply install SteamVR. Vive port is a useless piece of software.
Let me know if that works better for you
@@MaestroColby thank you so much, will definitely do and make sure to get back here with an update
@@no.1.2.uUpdate?
work on steam?
Made for steam
I have had this since 2016, and it is so bad that i barely ever used VR over the last 8 years. Now that I finally upgraded to the Quest 3, I am using VR all the time. It is absolutely not worth buying the outdated 2016 technology these days.
Idk man, i think it does pretty good considering 8 years of service.
But it depends on the person I guess
@@MaestroColby it's all about tradeoffs tbh, vives are cheap and come with base station tracking, but have really poor optical quality. A friend has one and describes the SDE and lenses as nearly unbearably bad. some people are fine with that though. comfort supposedly also isn't amazing.
headset in it of itself is a good one, although very 1-gen’ey but the wands are absolute disgrace to human race and should be evaporated from existance, my hands are bleeding good video btw
I completely agree with you, that the wands are horrible.
Yeah I really don't get Htc even their new Vive pro 2 nearly 10 years later still uses the wands....
Can i buy brand new in 2024?
Yes, on a marketplace somewhere
Sad, here htc vive cost 1200$
nah aint no way i got min in like 2017 and for only 200
@@JACADD good for you, i live in corrupt nation all thing are expensive hmm
Where the hell are you getting an HTC Vive for 150 bucks? I just checked Amazon and it's more than 1000 dollars.
eBay
ebay
Picking up a local one tomorrow for $100
@@Stavroization do you like it?
@@tezlol2255 yeah it's a lot of fun. The headset is definitely showing its age with its lower resolution but for $100 for the whole package, it's hard to complain. I believe the controllers and the bay stations are compatible with the valve index so I also have a bit of an upgrade path if I decide to go that route. I've mostly been playing superhot and beat saber.
