    I was looking for my first headset (apart from psvr) and there’s a few options to choose from. I won’t lie, the newer headsets seemed like they would be the best investment, but thanks to your amazing in-depth non-bias review, I’ll steer clear and go for the Index.
    After all, you are the most qualified person I can think of to review these! Thank you!

      As long as you live in US, have a good PC rig and are patient with RMA returns incase of any problems - go for it, because it's actually a good HMD as you've mentioned and it's actually one that's worth every buck

    • @ChrisQuitsReality
      @ChrisQuitsReality  3 года назад +10

      psvr was my first real headset and I loved it! I have never met anyone that hated their index it really is a great piece of hardware only risk with buying one currently is them dropping a new one but there is no guarantee of that anytime soon.

    • @ChrisQuitsReality
      @ChrisQuitsReality  2 года назад +3

      @d[llp; d Well first I'm reviewing the headset and not the controllers IMO the index controllers themselves are awesome but the build quality is absolute trash . Second I have not had the headset long enough to test cable lifespan because the headset sucked so much ass I returned it. Basically everything for every headset is on backorder it's not valve exclusive try looking for a vive pro cable. IMO the valve index cables are the worst I've dealt with though however replacements have never been an issues under warranty. Pixel problems are anecdotal if you search anything you will find more even if it's a small minority I have had 4 myself with no issues besides self inflicted problems

    • @ChrisQuitsReality

      @d[llp; d bro if you like the pro 2 then I hope you enjoy it I literally say that in the video. I don't hate vive I like their stuff and have nothing against them however for the price and what the pro 2 offer imo they dropped the ball. This video is from my experience as a person who literally plays vr as their job and has stuck their face in most the vr headsets out there. Also the pro 2 colors are better then the index I don't even think you watched the vid ur just going off for no reason.

    I bought this as an upgrade to my Quest 2 for PCVR and hated it for all the same reasons as you did. The lenses are so weirdly aligned the overall visual effect was a downgrade on my Quest 2 running at 5408 x 2736 with a 3090. Sent it all back and got a Reverb G2 instead. That's far from a perfect headset either, but at £649 it's literally half the cost of the Vive Pro 2 base stations and Index controllers, and it's fantastic for Microsoft Flight Simulator which is pretty much all I play so I'm happy with this setup until better headsets come out next year.
    But yes, the Vive Pro 2 really sucks, considering the price and the release year it's easily the worst of the six headsets I've ever bought, and the only one I returned. I prefer the Quest 2 even if they were the same price.

  • @Badeand

    Valve won't sell me an Index because I live in Norway, and I'm not getting a Quest because Facebook. That leaves keeping my old Vive, get a Pimax or get a Pro 2. I went with the Pro 2, and I CAN ACTUALLY READ STUFF IN VR! Not that my eyes are bad, but the resolution of the original Vive makes text unreadable unless it's directly in your face.
    I got one of those thin leather face thingies that brings your face closer to the screen for that FOV, and I gotta say, that little sensor thingy that sticks out in the middle there, it's sharp. My face did not approve. There's this button to adjust the distance to make room for glasses and such, and I need to put that 1 notch out not to have my face stabbed whenever I look up.

    With the weird screen layout I can clearly see the deadzone in the dead center of my vision. It takes a while to adjust and causes me a noticeable increase in vr sickness when I used to get minimal to no sickness.

    Question: anyone feel free to respond
    When I grow up or manage to get money my DREAM is to get full body, I currently use quest 2 and I wish to upgrade one day to pcvr .
    What is the headset u use?? (Assuming index) It looks very rugged and suitable,. And what would be a good pc build setup so I can run vrchat. Atleast. Good quality, decent frames 90 or more FPS
    And also how much will the average price be I’m guessing ATLEAST I’d have to choke up 1k (including full body)
    And I’d guess like like a lil less without fbt
    AND if I do get a oculus rift instead. Will it support full body tracking?

    • @happyinsideg
      @happyinsideg 3 года назад

      Ok I did research.. I might get a rift I have 2 friends that have it and they rate it 8/10 and a 10/10
      And they also told me that they have the same sorta quest tracking. (But they never got or tried full body tracking)
      There is a low chance that I would get full body but if I ever plan to. Will the trackers that he has work for the rift?

    • @happyinsideg
      @happyinsideg 3 года назад

      MORE RESEARCH
      I HAVE TO COUGH UP 1.5K FOR INDEX (without fbt or a pc)
      And 550 bucks for rift (without fbt or pc)
      *I hope to god I get a good job so I can pay for 1*

    • @happyinsideg
      @happyinsideg 3 года назад

      EVEN MORE RESEARCH
      apparently it’s 129 bucks per tracker
      There is a very low chance I’d ever get full body
      It’s like 400 bucks solo just for the trackers (without the bases)

    • @ChrisQuitsReality
      @ChrisQuitsReality  3 года назад +1

      Okay so basically the computer price estimating is a bit difficult right now since covid has made available stock and prices go insane but this is what I know. First off you do not need a new headset, if you have a quest 2 you can link it to your PC with an Oculus link cable and use it like a PC headset. I use the index but the Quest 2 is very nice and there may even be upgraded headsets by the time you save up. A bare minimum VR gaming PC used to be built for around 600$ with a 1060 but it's not realistic right now. For a decent experience and a little future proofing you're probably looking at around 1k minimum for the PC. The tracking is expensive because you require not only the trackers but also the base stations that run 125-200 each. There are cheaper options of tracking out there and others being developed but for the time being vive trackers are the best option. I would watch thrillseekers recent video on SlimeVR that is the most realistic and cheap tracking solution yet that does not require the Lighthouses.
      The oculus headsets do support full body tracking but if using the vive trackers you will need the vive lighthouses. Lastly you will never get 90fps in VRChat unless in a private lobby lol. I have a beefy setup and am generally floating around 25-40 but I also have most everything shown. VRChat is absolutely merciless on PC's. Hope this helps and I hope you can enjoy full body some day!

    • @happyinsideg
      @happyinsideg 3 года назад

      @@ChrisQuitsReality ok thank you very much for the info lol
      I never really knew how many frames go into a vr chat server
      I did hear about the slime trackers but I do think they are still in development. And not out for sale yet. I do see that being a successful product tho
      And thank you again for your honest opinion. So mainly what I need is a. Small pc (enough to run vrchat) and use quest 2 and a link cable. And some other things to get it to work
      I am thinking by the time I do get a proper job that the slime trackers will be a full product
      Just 1 last thank you for making vr a better learning experience for me ❤️❤️

    And here I am, a random guy on the internet with a quest 2 that modded the shit out of it and plays pcvr at 1.6 upscaling torturing my 2070 (some day 3070 ti (maybe...)), and still paying less then half of the Index.
    If there was a index 2.0 cable pcvr headset where whole setup would cost (with base stations and shit) 700usd BUT ACTUAL 700, not 700 on the paper and then 1.2k in Europe, I would buy it.
    Honestly right now, a 800usd index would be nice option but like I said ACTUAL 800.

    For that price it's really disappointing and even using outdated tech like the wmr controllers which really are not great. This headset should've been out way before the Index to have a decent chance. The only interesting vr headset I'm looking for and for a very low and fair price in comparison with the other headsets is Deca Move headset. From what I've seen and read it's exactly what I'm looking for at a price point where I'm comfortable with.
    I really hope they can deliver what they promised, can't wait for the reviews for that.

    You can stop focusing on HTC Focus 3. Same lenses (means same picture problem with small sweet spot), fan working too hard (has whizz noise) and you can only hold it on 2 hours, cannot charged in action. And the headstrap cannot removed to better 3rd party, it's one solid product.
    And it might same story for Quest 2 + FBT trackers, Focus 3 don't use external trackers, so you need some tricks to use it with FBT. But Focus 3 is not designed to work with FBT even it's same HTC house.
    And more heavier due battery in back. Wild dance action? I am sure it will fly even more faster off.
    Two strikes down for HTC already?

    I've spent the better half of this week (my days off) researching what headset to save up for. Despite this review's negative take, I still think this is the way to go. I have the original Vive and its finally on its last legs. It still kinda works, but after 6 years (i think), the controller is finicky with squeaky trigger buttons and desyncing in the VR space floating away from me into the void, one of the base stations stopped working (so I can only face one corner of my room), and the plastic on the headset itself is peeling leaving me with black flakes in my hair after I take it off.
    The Vive Pro 2 will probably be a very similar set-up. I already have a base station stand to hold the new ones. Its backwards compatible with the Index controllers which seem to be the unanimously agreed upon best VR controllers. It has the best resolution for its price-point which is a huge win for me, since I spend a lot of time watching videos in the bigscreen software. Audio isn't an issue since I just use my more than decent headphones anyways. And same goes for the microphone, my headset has a great mic too. This seems like a win-win for me. The only downside I see here is the glare, which is already something I deal with using my old headset, so I'm already desensitized to the issue.
    The reason I don't go for the Index is because I've seen many videos of people complaining about the longevity of the index. Most reviews state that the device has less than a year of heavy use. And while I don't have the free time for heavy use, I don't want to have major issues in 2~3 years. My OG Vive stood the test of time and no negative reviews have complained about the how long the Pro 2 will last. And even if the Index controllers brake on me semi quickly, $300 is an easier fix than a $500 one. Also it seems even if Valve introduces a new headset all their headsets are compatible with newer releases, so if they discontinue the Index I can buy their new controllers instead. Pretty sure in my scenario this is the best possible VR build for me. And with an RTX 3080 GPU and a 13 gen i9 CPU I don't think my specs are going to be challenged by the upgrade either.

      @TurkeyFaceX 9 месяцев назад

      @@Learndrxp I assume you said get Valve Index. If I'm correct, the reason is I've been watching tons of reviews. And every review of the Index says it brakes in less than a year. Even though Valve will replace it free of charge no questions asked, that only counts for the one year warranty. Exceed that and you're screwed. I can afford to continue buying their controllers every year if need be, but I'm not made of money, the headset needs to last longer than a year or two and the Pro 2 seems to have a better track record with reviews and it has better resolution to boot.

      In comparison to others on the market it is pretty bad.
