  • I'm back with another 3D printed game! Catch space fishes as quickly as you can with a magnetic fishing rod that you can 3D print and assemble yourself. Isn't everything technically in space???

Really fun idea. Mayby there could be a piece called "Boot" wich gives you 0 or -1 points. Mayby it has some extra metal pieces so it would be extra easy to accidentally get one. Mayby there could be even Clams whit a possible pearl inside one that is worth 10 points but you cant tell which has one. its like the Golden Snitch of the game.

WD-40 stands for water displacement formula #40. WD-40 is not a lubricant and over time will actually cause a drag in something that needs lubrication. A teflon based lubricant will make parts move very well.

Finally someone who knows what wd40 is for

  • @jjfoerch

So cool. "Space" could be added to the game by having a different set of "fish" which were space themed objects. UFOs would be a good one.

    • @98Zai
      @98Zai 11 месяцев назад

Yeah, I can see a sunken UFO with some sea plants growing on it. Another idea is to hang up asteroids and planets in trees and try to catch them! The UFO is worth 100 points!

WD40 is an obscene word in the clock and fine mechanism business. Over time it leaves a gummy residue that is very difficult to remove. Washing out OEM grease can be done with mineral spirits, kerosene, diesel fuel (NOT GASOLINE), or other degreasing agents. If water based a mineral spirits sloshing around to displace water followed by a gentle warm dry is recommended. Either run the bearings dry as is often done in precision mechanical regulators or use a light oil. It might sound silly, but a zero or 5 weight pure synthetic motor oil is an excellent lubricant in these sorts of apps and avoids purchasing some very expensive lubricants that rarely work any better. Fun video, nice job on the game design and it's great to see folks getting together outside instead of hiding in their houses and only goofing around online!

Add some "alien" looking fish, astroids, green aliens, and UFO's to make the game space themed.

What about putting the magnet in the sea life but putting metal powder in the resin for the bobber in order to make the whole piece magnetic?
You could even use smaller magnets imbedded in the sections of the rod to strengthen it and not weld it so it still has the option to dismantle for storage. Or you can make it a spiral for screwing into place like a broom or mop head.

    GREAT VIDEO!
Your friends seems like a fun group.
The fishing rods work better with the longer rod because of leverage and torq. But that is just basic science for nerds like me. And yes, my dad took me fishing for years....
If you could print the front piece from TPU, you should get more flex and more wip action for better casting. A stiff TPU.

thank you so sharing this! I'm helping out at a steampunk festival and have started printing the rods and fish in metallic colours with a 2,000 leages under the sea vibe.
The lower rod section was a mite too big for my prusa I3. My cad skills are V basic so I did a little cut and shunt on it and it seems to be working okay

3D printed rope? The raw filament could work too. Could even design a version that uses the while filament spool as well.

Love the vid as always. This comment is about the audio. It sounds okay, but it sounds dubbed. I don't think it was, but the audio is very out of body sounding and at least for me detracted from the video. Much preferred your older studio audio.
