    I notice that you lay the wall edge slab (or spacer slab), then lay the rest of the row from the edging tile - then you lift and either relay the full wall-side slab, or remove and dig out the spacer slab. Is the reason for laying and then relaying/removing the wall side slab to enable you to use the spirit level to get the levels right, or some other reason?

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  Год назад

      I think the answer is to the question is. The last tile I lift and relay is only for levels I then lift it up to move it next to the last tile for the correct spacing hope that’s what you mean 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Love the video.
    Around most of my house is a 10cm gravel edge between the brickwork and any paving. I guess that is to prevent any run-off from the walls scooting across the pavers. Would you recommend that or not please? Most of your videos have the slabs going up to the brickwork. Is it just personal preference assuming the slabs are well below the damp course level? Thanks.

    Hey Scott - just watched this - thats a proper tidy job - i got a quick question - we've had our patio done with porcelain tiles 800x800 - the boys did a great job and they look fantastic , we had 5 tiles left over and im wondering could i lay them over some patio patio steps so itll tie in with the next level ?

    • @tidybrickslandscaping

    • @PhilM62

      @tidybrickslandscaping thanks for the reply fella - I'm looking at either spreading a SBR slurry over the existing patio steps ( they are cotswold slabs ) then spreading 20mm of sand cement spreading a layer of slurry on the bottom of the tile them leveling the tile or using a plastic support and doing away with the mortar - the steps are solid though I may have to trim the overhang with a grinder as I want to have the risers to fit flush to the step - I'm goin to have to make up a mix to attach the risers anyway so I'm not sure which will produce the best results

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  5 месяцев назад

      @@PhilM62 as long as the slurry is also a cement mix then yeh great it does work I’ve tested it I just drys quicker and it’s all trail and error regarding steps but as long as it’s primed it’ll work

      @tidybrickslandscaping thanks mate - we had the lower half of the patio done in 2021 and upper section is just levelled stone my missus stopped me having a go at that until the interior of the house is finished ( weve only been here since 1992 😆) I'm going to do a composite deck on the raised section and its only 2 steps that need to be covered - so I've been hard at work studying any RUclips videos before I get stuck in - the problem is , is that you make it look so ridiculously easy - just waiting for this rain to sod off so I can have decent few days - that's typical South Wales for u but its been much worse than normal

    Brilliant video and quality workmanship, about to start laying 600x900 porcelain tiles for my patio and would love to lay them in brick bond my problem being that there would be a change in gradient from path to patio due to existing levels (not too drastic may be 50mm over 3.0m) is it possible to get over this in brick bond or would you choose linear brick bond? There is a definitive line where gradient changes.

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  2 года назад

      Those size tiles are quite large it’s easier to change gradient with smaller tiles but can be done if you seen my driveway video porcelain tiles I had similar level issues that was lucky I had a expansion joint to allow me to turn faster 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      @ITryTo 2 года назад +1

      Craig Martin, probably because they are a waist of money and time imo, the slabs are too heavy for them and in all honesty they don’t do anything other than spacing and for that you can use cheap tile spacers.
      If your bed is correct levels the tiles are not going up or down anyway and these tile levellers are not stronge enough to hold them or to level them if one slab was 2mm lower, if you tried to tighten them to get both slabs flush they just snap, I bought a bag for my place after seeing them on here as i was laying porcelain slabs at my place for the first time ( laid plenty of patios in past), used about 10 of them and threw them in the shed as just not needed imo
      Better off running to your lines and using levels and your eyes ect

    Wow - great teamwork to produce that result!
    May I ask your advice regarding a 12 metre squared area that I’m going to pave using porcelain 1200x600x20 tiles…
    1: The tiles (approx half) will need to be lifted in about a year because of an extension to the property which will overlap onto the proposed tiled area. Can porcelain tiles be laid on a bed of compacted mot1 with only sand on the top layer and grouted in with the flexible brush in grout? Sorry to all the experts who will probably be baulking at reading this….however, the tiles were expensive and I would like a solution that does the job but can also be moved at a later date.
    2 - from the patio doors to the far end of the paving, the measured drop is 6 inches.
    To alleviate this, would you recommend a 1:60 fall ratio bringing it down about 2.5 inches and I’m thinking to use some 600x600 spare concrete pavers which can be cut in half to use as pin curbs around all the edges.
    Would sincerely appreciate some decent advice before I set forth with my spade!

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  2 года назад +1

      Hi Brad thanks for watching my videos as for your idea laying the tiles on compacted MOT what I would suggest would be to lay the tiles on a cement bed but always a but.
      Lay the tiles on a semi dry mix of cement and do not prime the back of the tile and they should pop up relatively easy just make sure the cement is relatively dry so it can’t stick but will go hard enough to you allow you to level and walk on
      And yes use that flexible brush grout because it’s so easy to take out with a screwdriver anyways it’s basically a shit product otherwise. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
