That was awesome. Great seeing intelligent blokes who really know what they’re doing and take their time doing it right. I’m sure I’d struggle to find guys like that round my way
If Carlsberg did building sites you’d have Robin Clevitt for the chippy, Rob Songer the for the bricking and A&E construction on the ground. These boys are streets ahead in their field. 👌🏼
Fantastic work lads. Glad to see there are still tradesmen out there who take pride in their work. It's certainly a rarity. Far too many chancers in the game these days. The tiling work was spot on!
Hi Imran thanks for your kind words Greg is an true craftsman, it’s a pleasure working with him. Thanks for watching have a awesome weekend all the best Tony 👍
You guys are professional of all professionals! My 16th video of this build series and I’m loving every bit of it , loved listening and watching the tiler explain everything that he does , you should come to Kent and show some of the trades on my site how to do things properly , definitely need the tiler to come over and do all the tilling because today I knocked off 3 bathrooms of tiles because they were horribly done 😅, well done boys keep up the beautiful work
Hi Eimantas thanks for your kind words. Look us up @gn_tilingltd on Instagram send us a dm. We travel all over the country so you never know we may see you in Kent some time 😉👍 Thanks Greg
Im gonna be doing my own porcelain this summer and this is most definitely the method I want to use rather than the mortar bed system, can you guide me as to where to buy the materials ,adhesives, matting and tools etc.Really glad I found this vid,you guys are a rare breed these days, well done .
Hi denty32, We would normally wherever possible, however, as they were blue pavers we wouldn't of been able to lay them wet. So unfortunately they had to be dry cut. Thanks for watching. All the best, John 😊
Superb work - great to see such attention to detail! I know that I might get shot down here, but it would be worth getting a water pump kit for that Hilti, saves mess, reduces complaints from customers (and neighbours) and protects you and your workers too.
Hi videogalore, Glad you enjoyed the video. We do have the water pump kit installed on the Hilti. However, laying wet blues is a bit of a nightmare, hence why in this instance we didn't use it. Thanks for watching. All the best, John 😊
Another great video love the tiles very smart . Pavers look great as well very skilled tradesmen it’s a joy to watch great tradesmen at work and doing it the way it should be done.when is the next video of the big house renovation
Congratulations guys I Never thought that proper professionals like yourselves ever existed, well not in my area of the UK, you make the guy who laid my patio recently look like a complete amateur, I feel completely cheated
Hi Robert, Glad you're enjoying the build. We have been on this for about 12 months in total. We are much further ahead than what you are currently seeing, but you will get to see the finished product soon. Thanks for watching. All the best, John 😊
Hay Adam. Thanks for the compliment. I was using a prem tool blade that day. I do vary the blades I use thow. Depends on the tile. Have a great evening and thanks for watching Greg
Hi 1963Poul, Glad you enjoyed the video. We use steel mesh whenever it is required. If this area was to be used for heavier foot traffic, then it would of been an option. But in this instance it wasn't required. I hope this helps. All the best, John 😊
That’s not Chris Hemsworth, that’s Gregg, come on you should know that by now if you’ve watched enough of their videos. His work is superb - puts a lot of effort in.
Love these videos so thanks for that. Question re the yellow matting, how is that fixed down? and also what is the reason for the long wait (3-4 weeks) on the new laid concrete? Proud to see proper tradesmen.
I think I’ve asked in a previous video,is there any chance we could get a back story of how it all started and how you guys came together? Cheers lads.
Is the yellow matting the outside equivalent to ditra matting. Nice to see porcelain being laid properly. He's back battered his tile so don't really need to vibe it.
Wow this is great work . I am a tiler and this is some of the best work i have scene. Just a question, how come the path down the side of the house was not centred was the job set out to run from the patio thanks Neil
Hi Neil If you watch the previous video we explained the set up for this job. Its all based from what we did inside the kitchen area. All the joints run perfectly threw from inside to out. When the doors and sliders are opened it looks and feels like one big room then with no step in the grout lines. A real head ache to set up and especially down the narrow section but worth it Thanks Greg
John what a cracking job as always, and Greg what a lad them tiles are spot on 👌🏻 one question John why does the concrete need to be left for that long are the tiles heavy or something? but great job all round lads 💪🏻👌🏻
Hi Smidgey88, Glad you enjoyed the video 😁 The tiles we are using are called Original Style Victorian Tiles, and as with many high end floor finishings, the base needs to be free of moisture to prevent delamination. We always ensure we follow manufacturers guidelines to the letter 👌🏻 Hope this helps. All the best, John 😊
Guys, it’s really frustrating watching your guys exceptional work as it makes me realise how much we got mugged off by our traders. One thing they’re all good at no doubt without question is excuses! They have enough of thoughs in their empty tool boxes!! Lol
A question for Greg - just wondered why he did'nt use 20mm tiles. Also I assume the matting whet on a concrete base. Thanks appreciate the feedback, as I have a job to do myself being new to exterior tiling.
How do you get those cuts so perfectly circle round those pipes, i always struggle doing curved pipe cuts, as the back end of my disc always catches the slab and makes the cut shit.
Hey, guys love the video. I'm upgrading my garden. I'm wanting to put porcelain tiles down, but the contractor reckons they too are they slippy and then recommended an Indian sandstone paver instead, any thoughts? I personally like the more modern look of porcelain. Would love to hear your thoughts if you have time. Thanks. Perry

Hi guys great work but I’ve got 2 questions. Why is the patio and especially the manhole higher than the windowsill? And would you recommend to use the vibration tool on marble tiles with veins in them?
Hi Marcel they line through with the patio detail that has been given to us by Apropos you have to make sure the drain weep holes are channeled with capping which we have done, manholes are correct levels as for marble vein tile it’s try it and see but speak to the company who supplied the tiles all the best Tony 👍
Been do tile marble and granite stone work old stone for 40 years retired now old school 👍 Like way you concrete the areas nice and flat like way you put Dura base matt down that right way laying the tiles👍but you should put reinforcing bar or mesh expansion joints in concrete and you should let the concrete go off for a week and a half give it time for movement do nice work look really good all the best 👍 👍

The quality of these jobs are incredible. Shame I could never afford it! Get what you pay for with you guys.
Ragieza problem is most people want a cheap job but want quality too.

Glad you enjoyed the video.
We do have the water pump kit installed on the Hilti. However, laying wet blues is a bit of a nightmare, hence why in this instance we didn't use it.

Greg is a real pro👍
I have to ask if you never puts ironnet in the bottom of the concrete?
We normally do in Denmark
Hi 1963Poul,

Can you tell what is the name of the yellow matting? Unbelievable professionalism and skill
Hi Ian,
It's called CI matting, which is a de-coupling membrane. It prevents any movement in the substrate transfering to the tiles.
Hope this helps.
All the best, John 😊
Thank you
I've not seen the use of matting outside before. Is that a on thing?
Read comments etc but can’t find any info on the yellow green matting and why it’s used externally etc? Never seen anyone vid use this technique.
I wish you guys were up North!
Hi what have you crack-matted on top of? A level screed?
Hi donna,
The base is a self leveling and self compacting concrete. It's fantastic stuff, which can save a lot of time and effort.
Hope this helps.
All the best, John 😊
Cheers is that just like supa flow?
Yes it is 😊
Build With A&E yep saves them knees does that stuff just takes so long to dry and the crack mat makes sense now as you have to be careful of the skin on top of the supa flow 😩

Hi Tim,
The method used in this video is definitely our preferred technique for laying external tiles.
I hope this helps.

Build With A&E what’s the best way to secure this matting down to the concrete base ?
Hi..did you end up tiling over the door seal to make it flush with the internal floor?

Hi MegaRichardHoward,
Glad you enjoyed the video.
The tiles are by Evolution Stone, imported from Italy by a company called Concept Tiles.
They really are an awesome tile!

Great job, what adhesive would do you use for the external tiles?
Fantastic job. Which ratio did you use for the concrete slabs ? Thanks
What’s the tile mate on ? Bed or concrete or can you concrete theses tiles straight on to MOT hard core ? Thanks great job
Thinking of laying 20mm porcelain pavers on a sloped grano/cement base, using adhesive and decoupler. Does that sound sensible? Everyone says sand/cement full bed.
Hi TheDranny,
If you intend to use a decoupling membrane and adhesive, you will definitely need a solid base to work from. A concrete base would be the ideal solution.
Hope this helps.
All the best, John 😊
For the paved walkway did you use a mortar under the bricks?
What grout is used here? What grout is best for a porcelain patio? Great work by the way.
