Galaxies are superb to watch, but that Alpha and driver were the most truly well paired human/machine on the track. Pure confidence and brute force attacks, in straights and corners. Carmie- rules are rules, and rules are made to accommodate the mannerisms of all vehicles, just like we do in society, with all people...Big fat obnoxious American cars have equal rights. I am doing my part to build another, although it will not be for racing, but more of a tribute to it's entertainment value

@@email4664 I had no question about the rules. If a driver isn't on the track, said driver can't hold a higher position. That is what Mr. Hart did. He didn't let up, was on the grass & not qualified for the 2nd place position. But like I was asking Mr. McRae, I tried to find the 'part 2' race results & couldn't find any. Only found the results for part 1. I wonder what happened?

      From the Goodwood site:
      1 Shepherd
      2 Hart
      3 Fisken
The marshalls will have looked at it I'm sure- even the commentators were not clear how this would be ruled. Thing is
there is more than one rule comes into play in this scenario- sure, there is the 'gaining unfair advantage' from missing out the chicane. Hard to ignore the 'fully alongside' rule though. Hart was on the grass because he had been deprived of the ability to stay on track due to the fat Ford consuming all of the track width- ie not making any allowance for the Giulia by staying on the power and drifting ever wider. The Alfa's had established through both races that they could take that wide line but stay within track limits and take the chicane...
Suppose it was judged that the final track positions reflected a fairer outcome than swapping 2 and 3.

Superb three days of racing and thank you so much to Goodwood whose very name anywhere on YT is a magnet and a thumbs up. Loved the shot of the BigGalaxy (it's always going to be one word now after this) pulling up to the camera after the win with 1962 Michigan plate on the front bumper. It is in amazing shape for a 60-year old licence plate! Got its share of TLC as well obviously.

The Plymouth Barracuda is big when it's in a race with cars which are all smaller (other than the Galaxie). The word also acknowledges "big" engine capacity in comparison to the British and European models of that era i.e. the ones it's racing against.

great stuff...great racing in great REAL cars.....😀
but suggestion......take away the big american cars into a class of their own......that should be interesting, when all on the grid have the same "muscle".....
and a "fair" race for the european/british cars.....i'd like that.......😀

That wouldn't be commensurate with history. The whole point is THESE cars raced each other back then. It is a fair race, and back in the day, the Fords mostly lost because they're just not nimble enough.
