Shiny stick, sharp stick, stick stick, wide stick, and a thin, spread out stick.

So Savras became trapped in the staff after being struck by it; anyone else find it ironic that the God of Divination didn't see that coming?

"The fundamentals of magic" aka 9th level magical mastery.
These snakey bois were on a whole other level.
@Viktor Magnusson being able to understand math and the flow of physics fundamentally enough, would give you magic-like powers. I mean, all of reality is just math... and all of technology is just getting that math to work out with such a systematic flow that it does something useful to you. That's what vehicles and computers are, for example.
Fusion technology is constantly 20-40 years away (fusion tech joke, everyone you ask.. for the last 60+ years has said it's something like 20-40 years away lol) because of how difficult it is to understand how to, and actually physically achieving the near perfect alignment of many complex interactions.
@@Elluem "Magic-like powers" is a bit vague, it's certainly not like D&D magic, but I get what you mean. Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic and all that.
@@sirreginaldfishingtonxvii6149 I mean, D&D magic is a very specific thing.. But it's possible that with sufficient understanding of physics and accuracy of control over the material around you, with a high enough throughput of precise actions and energy, you could... Do things that look at least a crazy as much of D&D's magic...
@@Elluem Maybe, I'm no time traveller. And if I were, I would be prohibited from telling you anything about it or risk facing 3-14 years in prison.

Can you imagine owning one of the most powerful Artifacts in existence but you think it's merely a spell scroll that teaches new handy useful spells
You’d be like:
“Hey! I need a way to get into this mans home!” *smashes head into book* “… I don’t need a 13th level fireball I need a way to get into this mans home!”
The funny thing is, I came up with an idea for an artificer who would do a lot of damage just for a scroll that teaches him new spells, given the fact that he actually doesn't have the magical study common in artificers, but rather hodge-podged his spell list together from meeting random adventurers and just random experimentation.
I love that the Nether Scrolls teach you based on how much you know. if one could read them all at once they would probably break their brains. One day I hope my archmage gets to the point where she looks at the nether scrolls and sees nothing because they have nothing left to teach her
So a Nether Scroll is the exact opposite of an Elder scroll? Got it.
Not really. Theoretically all the combined knowledge of oblivion, aetherius and everything else can be found in the scrolls. But nobody has a way of truly comprehending what they see when they read them. At least that's how I understand it but if I'm wrong please tell me.
@Groisu yeah the concept itself is just so weird in general, you can't really describe them at all
Groisu .,?! .,?! .,?! ffs

I'd love to get my hand on those strolls and learn all their arcane secrets especially if it's tailored to teaching you what you would find most useful and easiest to learn
With that type of knowledge you could invent new spells, learn to concentrate on multiple spells, perform meta magic without being a sorcerer, etc...
Strolls? Walking your way to supremacy again?
If I remember correctly Mystra changed the way magic worked and 10th+ level magic has become impossible to cast single handily. So the scrolls might be outdated information.
@@KimKimeraKimes They tailor themselves to you though, so the reader who knows 10th level is impossible wouldn't get that knowledge. That or change the instructions to make it require more mages.
@@KimKimeraKimes I'd assume they would update. And with infinite knowledge you could possibly find a way around the whole mystra thing. At one time light bulbs used to be incredibly inefficient and hot but today we are able to achieve the same amount of light with less energy. I find it interesting that the Netherese probably got their name from the Nether scrolls. Just goes to show how "in your face" the lore is sometimes.
I know. You here these great names, or even just basic names, but it could stem from something so common or stupid. Friday originates from the goddess, Frija, the mother of Frigg. Doughnuts originate from a mother making baked dough with walnuts for her son. Names can be cool or stupid, but they all stem from something.
At 18:04 I spit my coffee out by accident when I heard that hilarious "merged together"

Imagine if those scrolls were magically turned into a person, and you simply asked that person how to access all the knowledge contained within him.
Also I imagine that reading the scrolls via live demonstration would also yield new secrets.
Question: if one were to read chapter 4 of the nether scrolls in the correct way, could they find out how to get to the bottom of the Abyss and find the Shard of Pure Evil?
If so, I imagine that could be used as a plot point for many high level end-game campaigns.

When infinity wars released I gave my players access to infinity stones, that were enchantment artifacts that they could use to make any of their items "infinite". 4/5 just made other artifacts infinite use, but then comes along the Thief of our group who asks to make his bag of holding infinite capacity.
You can guess how that went later down the line.
I like the new editing style!! You seem to be having a lot of fun with this, and I love it.
Absolutely obsessed with the way he says the M in "merged" at 18:05 like some orc.
haha was looking for that comment
If hes the god of divination, how come he didnt forsee the staff shenanigans? Lol
OOF
Spoiler alert: Maybe he did and he finally became an assistant of Mystra along with Azuth. Problem is he might have lost enough of his divination power that the three of them got killed.
Just because you see it coming, doesn't mean you can stop it... Mike Tyson being a good example, everyone (*boxing fans) knew what was coming but very very few could do anything about it.
@@ROMVS actually he foresaw the spellplague which is why Mystra knew and prepared (both of them). And while he "vanished" from the Realms, he still has worsjippers and holy spots. There was also a rumor in the back of an adventure ages ago that a relic or avatar of his was hidden somewhere. This was back before he entered Azuth's service
Something tells me the God of Divination Magic has a backup plan or two

Yeah I found it annoying as well that he used a picture of one of the main GODS of Final Fantasy XIV when naming off a simple artifact... Hydaelyn is not an infinity spindle.
She dropkicked and shattered another God resulted in 14 separate realities being made (the Source and the 13 Shards)
This actually made me low-key mad
Love your work man, keep it up. Thanks for making my Monday better
Best vid yet. Simply awesome timing just finished a couple series reread that covered a couple of these. Well done.
If Savras was the top guy for divination, then how did he not see someone coming up to him and smacking him with a god trapping staff? I bet he worked as a psychic, giving horoscopes over the phone.
In my fantasy world there’s something similar to “The Jathiman Dagger” called “The Athame of Freedom” sometimes called “The Blade of Mercy”. Every god has one of these blades of the god decides they don’t want to be a god anymore and choose a mortal life this blade makes them mortal/human stripping them of their immortality and power. Of course when they use/stab themselves with them it’s only the death of their divinity and not true death.
Always a pleasure to see one of MrRhexx's videos show up in my subscription feed.
If Raxivart lost the spindle would he lose his godhood?
Also curious.
Good question. I want to know the answer to this as well.
I think that must be true because otherwise there would be no reason to keep it to himself.
@@abcrasshadow9341 He may be scared of rivals.
No. The effects of the spindle are permanent but the value of such an item is what compels Raxivart to keep it. There are also rumors that he's made a demiplane that is only detectable to Raxivart himself where he is trying to get more power from the artifact.
This guy takes things that most you tubers would make boring he makes it really entertaining
MrRhexx, you just made my day by pronouncing the Latin words in your video with the Classical Pronunications!
It's a big pet peeve to hear Church Latin for things that would sound more sonorous & Clasical Latin is something I don't hear a lot out side of my five years of Latin Classes or away from Divus Magister Craft's channel.
"All you have to do is strike a god with the staff"
He makes it sound so easy, but does anyone else feel like this is the hardest part of the plan?
This video is so mesmerizing. Well done!
ooh and i think ive just found the ultimate mcguffin my end game BBEG is after, thank you
Haha, making a BBEG chase after an artifact is a classic. It's also a classic when the party is sent into a dungeon to collect it by a friendly NPC that they are unaware is the BBEG.

Hey Rhexx! I'm loving your inspirational videos, they're helping me make lore for my own elves in my homebrew campaign. I was wondering, however, if you could touch on the Fey Eladrin and their Archfey?
Absolutely fascinating episode, thank you so much. I love your channel. ♥
The idea of the scrolls is freaking beautiful.
So you're telling me....you can remove the dagger, and so long as you return it within 30 days, Borum will still be dead? Sounds like a deal to me.
Azuth: Yes, YES! Now I have you, my old 'friend.' What unknown secrets will we plumb? What depths of forgotten lore and unknown knowledge will we drag into the light? WILL WE GAZE INTO THE FAR PLANE? WILL WE READ THE DREAD PLANS OF THE DARK SORCERERS OF THE ABYSS?
Savras: **in staff** **sighs** So, Sune had to wait for some leaves to be cleared, so she's taking her bath a little late today. On the other hand, Auril's having a pre-massage snowball fight with her handmaidens, so I figured you might want to tune into that for a while. After that, Sharess normally has something going on in the afternoon, which should take you up to when things get good at chez Loviatar. To close the day out, we've got options -- we could drop in on Selune, like we do every night, or there's a once-in-a-generation nude spider ritual going on in the Demonweb Pits, so we could check out Lolth and actually learn something about magic, which, you know, would be nice, for a change.
Azuth: Yes. Yeeeeees. My plans come to fruition. None can oppose me now that I see all.
Savras: This is sad. Seriously. I mean, you should talk to someone.
Such great content man! keep it up! wishing you all the subscribers!!

The time has come to make the nether tome. All of the scrolls in one. Able to be experienced by all senses. Able to be copied. Has a sections that tell you about elven high magic and epic magic in the first chapter. Has the 6th chapter there. Gonna put this one in whenever i make a campaign. This isn't the scrolls themselves it is a new artifact based on the scrolls that copies and adds to the knowledge they have, consolidated into one tome, like the book of ultimate evil but for magic in it entirety. Feel free to use this one, maybe dont give it too your wizard pcs unless you want them to break your games.
I never clicked on a video faster in my life. Finally some good content after 20 hours of Top 10s!
The music in the background is the Fish in Carnival of the Animals, I believe. Wonderful piece, nice choice.
That was super interesting, can we get more artifact stuff?
While I agree with the list that you provided. I'm still a little sad artifacts like dragon orbs and the ring of winter were not included. Though I am really excited to have learned more about the nether scrolls. I've got a forgotten realms/ homebrew campaign that involves the world being un-sundered and the players are finding ruins of the Netheriese empire.
Seem like the Nether scrolls were made around the idea of the five sense each one teaching you something new.

Subscribed. Because I like your narration of the subject matter. Tone it down a bit, sound a little less intense (but more intrigued), and you have a polished product, imo.
Most Powerful Magic Item (non-artifact, non-epic) exists in 3.5e (and of course it is subjective to player goals, character class and opinion etc.) In 3.5e I once saw a magic item that I thought could be ridiculously useful. This magic Item is called the 'Belt of Magnificence.' Like a headband of intellect or periapt of wisdom the item provides bonuses to attributes in a similar fashion (+2, +4, +6) (Epic scaling, +8, +10, +12). The difference betwen the headband of intellect or periapt of wisdom is that the belt of magnificence gives the aforementioned attribute bonuses to EVERY ATTRIBUTE simultaneously, all for one item slot. +6 in 6 attributes is a total attribure bonus of +36 or +3 modifier to each attribute. The really great part about the belt of magnificence is when used with multi-attribute dependant classes particularly those with spellcasting, such as wizard/cleric/mystic theurge. This item used with such a class provides a huge benefit in the form of additional spell slots.
Now this was an example of a general wonderous item that is incredibly powerful, not artifacts. Artifacts obviously have nearly no limits to their power, potency or scaling, thus they can easily be more powerful than regular magic items.
The reason I say the belt of magnificence is the strongest is the economy it gives. It gives the same attribute bonuses as other items of its kind however condensing them all into one item is a HUGE benefit. 6 item slots worth of items in a single slot is incredible (neck, head, hands, cloak and amulet x2). It is even better because normally wisdom and constitution usually come on the same item, amulets. This gives the belt of magnificence even greater value in my opinion because with it you no longer have to choose. Additionally a character is then free to equip all manner of other items in those slots that would have otherwise been used for attribute bonuses. Simply magnificent....pun intended.
"Gates of Firestorm peak", 2nd edition module has a known gate to the far realm. Can only open every 25 years in correspondence with the coming of a comet.

I plan on a Drow centric champaign where at some point Eilistraee guides the party to where the broken Crescent Blade is lying in the Demonweb Pits. Now I know a way that they can repair the blade while having my idea of them or at least one of the party being a Drow dealing with being in a surface elf city coming to fruition. They can try to get help from an elf that has knowledge from the scrolls.
So, what if a character was created (a halfling or elf) that had gotten hold of the first chapter? I know it's up to the DM but, a halfling that got lucky enough to steal this scroll could be a powerful wizard. I would love to play a role in secret (between the DM and I) that seems to pull out a win when things seem the worst.
You became Louis Armstrong for a second when you said "merge" at 18:00
