I just had to go double check this to make sure I wasn’t remembering incorrectly but Earth was also mentioned in Sonic Riders and was capitalized in the subtitles. Also according to Ian Flynn the games currently take place on Earth as well(granted this is the current Sonic canon which is rapidly trying to become more serialized so it’s hard to say if this was always the intention)
I headcanon that the planet is called Earth, but when compared to other dimensions, it is referred to as "Chaos Earth." I think that when Chaos Energy was introduced to the planet millions of years ago, it caused many things, like the tectonic plates moving in different directions, weird crystals and metals forming in odd places, and weird evolution patterns for some creatures. I think our Earth (Order Earth) and Chaos Earth used to be the same: same pangea, same prehistoric ages, same dinosaurs, etc. But the presence of Chaos Energy (Most likely the unknown event that formed the Master Emerald) caused Chaos Earth to go in a completely different path of history. I also like to believe "Mobius" is in reality, an Archipelago that houses all of the Islands where Mobians are born, such as South Island, Westside Island, Mirage Island, basically any island that has it's own game.
Sonic also has a home in the OVA. Its not a proper house, more like a bunch of wreckage, but it still works to the point Tails can use it as a workshop.
I think it's suppose to be ambiguous and also because since sonic constantly has to save the world from Eggman or any other bad villian and can run really fast at the speed of sound, i feel like it's kinda hard to say! I also never thought about this and thanks so much for this video buddy! Keep it up! I'm also hyped for future content! 😁
I will always favor the Sonic OVA HQ. Sure, it's perhaps not very safe to live in, but the island itself is perfect with a great view and lots of space. Plus, I kinda like the idea of taking an abandoned place that no one wants and just making it your own.
My personal take on what the name of the world sonic lives on is that it is Earth, but like the Dragonball version of earth, where animals can talk and stand upright and there are mystical creatures and magic
In prime, which you literally said was cannon in this video, Amy specifically calls the planet earth in the first episode of season 2, capital included if I remember correctly
I have a theory about sonic and the few instances that he has a house. Maybe when we see him living in a house, its not his "definitive" house. Maybe sonic just rents some apartments or some houses when he needs to, like in the christmas artwork (where tails is freezing to death), maybe he has a house there because of the cold weather, so he rented one to keep him warm (he has a lot of rings after all). Or if he wants to relax, he just saves some rings to rent a nice enough house so he can relax comfortably, he does this kind of stuff (sonic in the pool and in the ending artwork in sa1). So I guess sonic doesnt have a house, he just sometimes rents some apartments or houses or just crashes at his friends place to relax or because he needs to. And maybe he does this (renting houses or apartments) to have some alone time, in a lot of medias sonic likes to relax by himself, so it wouldn't be out of character. Sorry if my english is bad it's not my native language 🙏
I always wondered where he and his friends always stayed at cause they were always changing locations in almost every game, in Sonic Battle, they lived in Emerald Town, and in Sonic Adventure, they lived at Station Square, it just got so confusing in every game.
For me sonic has a small home tucked away somewhere in a secluded place in green hill that he mainlu uses to keep personal belongings and trinkits from his previous adventures (adventure upgrades, ring from chip, soap shoes) however he rarely sleeps there as he spends ao much time on the move
Sonic has 1 or 2 houses but in the classic world he has one house where he lives with tails so they are roommates basically which makes him a half owner and in the archie world he has his own house but he mostly just uses it as a place to sleep casually and then go outside ready for the next adventure.
Canonically, I don't think Sonic has a home or an origin or anything, I think that will never change really, SEGA specifically wants his origins to be ambigous/mysterious and that also expands to where he lives basically. He is just a guy that exists. Now my personal headcanon is Sonic actually has a family and they live at Green Hill, that would explain why he always comes back to that place, he actually has a family there, but that's just my headcanon :)
Rouge, Shadow and Omega live together and sleep on a bunk-bed, with Rouge hanging upside down from the top bunk. They live a sitcome-ish life together and get into day-to-day hijinks, like Shadow stealing Rouge's shampoo and lying about it with straight face despite his luscious curly quills screaming that he did it, or Omega burning down the house trying to make pancakes. And noone can tell me otherwise. Sometimes a family can be a thieving goverment agent, an angst-ridden alien hybrid and a robot made of 99% bloodthirst and 1% sarcasm.
The whole ambiguity of Sonic's planet was always strange to me. It's like, in SA2 and Shadow it's very similar to Earth (Minus Australia), but then in Sonic Unleashed, the continents are blob shaped. Then there's the rest of the media where it feels even more random, at least when it's shown. Like, you can't have me believe that Sonic Forces' map is accurate at all.
It's not really ambiguous at all. SA2 literally just calls it earth, Shadow the Hedgehog has Black Doom call it an actual nickname for earth("The blue planet"), the way "Gaia" is used in Unleashed(As in, the spirit of the planet-way instead of just the element of earth in general) is very tied to this planet we are on right now. And other games don't particularly contradict this besides the weird inability to keep a consistent world map. Btw, Sand is counted as land for the purpose of maps. Green Hill being shown as on the main land in Forces is accurate because we are straight up shown that it is now completely surrounded by a desert, Eggman somehow turned the ocean into sand.
@@lpfan4491 I mean, that would mean that Green Hill is like, a third of the world. Also, all areas in Forces have levels spread far from each other. For instance, Sunset City (or whatever you want to call it) is the entire west side of the main land, and some parts south of green hill if I remember correctly. It's clear to me that the "world map" in Forces is just an island, probably South Island since Green Hill is there. The only real issue with what I'm saying is Chemical Plant, but even then Eggman probably has a bunch of those throughout the world. There's also the fact that Unleashed and Shadow have their own world maps that have vastly different landforms. I can believe SA2 and Shadow have similar if not the same map, but not Shadow and Unleashed.
I never said the worldmap in Forces is sensical, just that people were complaining about the wrong thing. It is entirely possible to combine what Forces did with a consistent world map(If someone were to go back and give the world one).
@@lpfan4491 To be fair, I don't really care if we ever get a consistent world map. I'm just kind of surprised that they never just went with one go-to map. I guess they probably just want to be able to expand the world forever or something.
Acording to Takeshi Iizuka, Sonic is canonically a nomad and does not have a house or live at a fixed location, but I also always kind of wondered how he survives like this. Can he survive in the wild or does he always have to crash on peoples sofas?
Maybe it's because I love creating characters and fictional worlds, but Sonic not having a house or even parents in the game continuity always bothered me. I really liked the SatAM/Archie Sonic universe for this reason -- it gives Sonic a place to stay when not trashing Robotnik's latest scheme, and gives a bunch of lore to Mobius in general!
I like the idea of the 'Friends of Sonic Homeowners Association' Tails, Amy and Vector set aside a budget to relocate whenever there's a crisis. Tails builds a new house every time, Amy redecorates an existing property, and Vector forces his team to move Chaotix HQ every time. - Knuckles obviously stays with Master Emerald - Vanilla, let's Cream stay with Amy occasionally. However, that's become less common. - Rouge has a penthouse apartment but is never home. Whilst on adventures, she sneaks into the nearest luxury hotel, albiet she doesn't use the bed but rather sleeps from the ceiling. - Shadow is to edgy for a consistent home, sometimes he joins Rouge but doesn't sleep on the bed either, actively choosing to stand by the window looking out of the world below with angst, eventually crashing on the sofa for 3 hours. - Silver will find the nearest abandoned building and decorate with reclaimed furniture and houseplants
Sonic is a free-roaming spirit. He stays where he is needed and once the battle is done, he moves on. Hopefully the live action movies eventually move him away from donut lord's house
According to Sega, Sonic is originally from Christmas Island, but his love for adventures drove him away from his home and he never had a place to consider home. My theory is that he just sleeps outside and occasionally crashes at Tails’ house.
Sonic not having a home can make sense, but I do wonder he could if it can be implied that he's a famous celebrity with his name showing up in places like casinos. Sonic also evidentially has pilot training even before meeting Tails with his biplane, the Tornado. Surely he doesn't constantly leave it parked out in the wild all the time while still looking that pristine, he could have a hanger as it would be necessary to store essential parts and tools for maintaining a combustion powered vehicle that dates back to before sliced bread.
Let's not even take Prime as canon, I'm sure that could just be an alternate timeline because all of those characters living in Green Hill doesn't make much sense
My head canon is kind of weird in a way, I feel like kind of like the British soldiers back then he just kinda crashes somewhere to stay. I mean he is the hero of mobius. So citizens I guess will be fine I’m of letting him crash in. Then wakes up, does daily routine, and dashes out. He explores 24/7 after all…
I was going to brainstorm some clever residence-based pun, but the revelation that their world has never been properly referred to as Earth, the planet, just hit me like a ton of bricks. Like holy shit, they actually thought about it and consistently maintained that tiny detail throughout the series. I love that!
The fact that Sonic has many homes suggests to me that he doesn't actually own any of them aside from the ones he threw together himself. He's a drifter who just squats wherever he wants to.
I am pretty sure that Sonic doesn't live anywhere because Sonic is a nomad who is always on the move. Also, I have no doubt at all that Sonic lives on Earth (albeit obviously an alternate version of Earth where humans and anthros live together) because the original Japanese version of the games mention that Sonic lives on Earth. 'Mobius' is an American creation. And I think the lower-case 'earth' thing doesn't mean that Sonic's home planet is ambiguous because I've seen many people who are highly literate refer to Earth as 'earth' in the same way that I've seen many people who are highly literate refer to the Solar System as the 'solar system'. Furthermore, I remember a scene in the intro to Sonic The Fighters when Eggman is standing next to a map of the world and Africa is very clearly shown on that map. So yeah, Sonic's home planet is definitely Earth.
Sonic Room in Sonic Shuffle is the kind of house people think men vibe with EDIT: didn't think he'll mention it in the video cause I made this before watching the video
In another episode of tailstube they answered a question what planet do they live on and tails responded with earth also they said there are two islands one with humans and one with the sonic characters
I always liked to think Sonic might have one or more cabins around the world. Nothing fancy, just small places where he can sleep and store all the mementos of his adventures. Like all the shoes and bracelets he gets through his adventures, photos, and other odds and ends. At one location I imagine he has the piece of the helicopter he sky surfed down on mounted over the fireplace. But I think he would keep these places secret, even from his friends. These would be safe places he can hide in, if need be, no can find him, and Robotnik can't boobytrap them. If he ever wants to disappear because there is just too much adventure to handle, he can just slip away to one of those places to daydream and nap without being bothered.
I always thought the maps in Sonic Battle were Station Square. Emerald Town being the suburbs, Central City and Night Babylon being Station Square itself, and Holy Summit being the Mystic Ruins.
I think a more interesting question is "Does Sonic need to sleep?" Sonic has infinite endurance and when shown resting, he's rarely ACTUALLY sleeping. As for hygenics, is it possible that he can take "wind baths"? That is to say he moves so fast that the wind cleanses his spikes and fur and allows him to 'clean' using sheer wind pressure. If either of these things are true, he doesn't need a home. In Sonic Boom, his "house" does not have a bathroom or a front door.
I like to think that house we saw in Secret Rings is his house, I've always thought that as a kid. The thing is, Sonic may be a wanderer, but he still needs a place to store his important and personal stuff like Chip's bracelet. My view is that Secret Rings place is Sonic's house but he only stays at it every now and then, preferring to run around the world for days and even weeks at a time before coming back for a pitstop.
So a little known thing about characters with Super Speed is that everything even their mind gets Super Speed too, so their mind processes information at Super Speed too, now imagine living around people who think slower than you, now that would be annoying, so if Sonic does have a house, it’s likely far away from all that and not one he visits regularly, just used as an escape so to speak

i imagine that he mostly kinda lives with tails with his own room where he keeps all of his personal belongings. however i do think that he's often on the run and will sleep pretty much anywhere if he has to. i think he'd frequently crash at other friends' places too
I just had to go double check this to make sure I wasn’t remembering incorrectly but Earth was also mentioned in Sonic Riders and was capitalized in the subtitles. Also according to Ian Flynn the games currently take place on Earth as well(granted this is the current Sonic canon which is rapidly trying to become more serialized so it’s hard to say if this was always the intention)
Maybe there is some doubt about the classics(Though they don't contradict it in the slightest iirc), but SA2 just calls it "Earth" too.
CONFIRMED! SONIC IS CANONICALLY HOMELESS
Sonic fights for a world where he can live and sleep outside without any worries
It's cool to see the characters, houses and what they look like Inside an outside 🏠 and tails head house is my favorite
Why does Sonic looks creeped out, like he's being watched or something in the thumbnail? 😱
Catch viewers I guess

That something you should find out yourself
Who came here after the Sonic homeless announcement?
I did
For me sonic has a small home tucked away somewhere in a secluded place in green hill that he mainlu uses to keep personal belongings and trinkits from his previous adventures (adventure upgrades, ring from chip, soap shoes) however he rarely sleeps there as he spends ao much time on the move
The question nobody asked but everyone needed the awnser to, excellent work chao!
Sonic has 1 or 2 houses but in the classic world he has one house where he lives with tails so they are roommates basically which makes him a half owner and in the archie world he has his own house but he mostly just uses it as a place to sleep casually and then go outside ready for the next adventure.
Sonic and friends are loaded and can afford multiple villas wherever they need to be.
Just like Steven Stone!
Screw that, where does Shadow live?!
Where ever the hell he wants.
G.U.N.?
In rouges basement
@@AnnStyle False, Rogue lives in Shadow's attic.
Boom Sonics house looks nice to live in, I wouldn't mind living in something similarly built, it's got that cozy feeling
I imagine he has multiple homes around the planet, so that way when he's running around he can use one of them that's nearby
Keep up the awesome work and videos chaomix
Acording to Takeshi Iizuka, Sonic is canonically a nomad and does not have a house or live at a fixed location, but I also always kind of wondered how he survives like this. Can he survive in the wild or does he always have to crash on peoples sofas?
Maybe it's because I love creating characters and fictional worlds, but Sonic not having a house or even parents in the game continuity always bothered me.
I really liked the SatAM/Archie Sonic universe for this reason -- it gives Sonic a place to stay when not trashing Robotnik's latest scheme, and gives a bunch of lore to Mobius in general!
a really good question is: how sleep deprived was sonic during unleashed?
Sonic has a house, but he rents it out as an AirBnB because he's almost never there.
Sonic loves commiting tax evasion, so he never lives in one spot for too long.
I like the idea of the 'Friends of Sonic Homeowners Association'
Tails, Amy and Vector set aside a budget to relocate whenever there's a crisis. Tails builds a new house every time, Amy redecorates an existing property, and Vector forces his team to move Chaotix HQ every time.
- Knuckles obviously stays with Master Emerald
- Vanilla, let's Cream stay with Amy occasionally.
- Silver will find the nearest abandoned building and decorate with reclaimed furniture and houseplants
sonic does not wanna pay his taxes that is why he does not have a house
until we meet again
Cool thumbnails
Chaomix is an incredible artist, gotta love his Adventure style and original ones
Sonic is a free-roaming spirit. He stays where he is needed and once the battle is done, he moves on. Hopefully the live action movies eventually move him away from donut lord's house
Honestly, AoStH portraying Sonic as a wandering hippie kind of made sense.
9:36 bro thinks he's sssniperfowlf 💀
According to Sega, Sonic is originally from Christmas Island, but his love for adventures drove him away from his home and he never had a place to consider home. My theory is that he just sleeps outside and occasionally crashes at Tails’ house.
Sonic x really made sonic out to be the coolest homeless guy ever
I was watching sonic x yesterday and this is accurate
The reason Sonic dosent have a home is, he’s on the run from the government because he refuses to pay his taxes
Either some home built-in to a natural environment like many of those fancy homes or anywhere because he's a Nomad.
I think Sonic lives with Amy before his next adventure.
I'll forever remember this video as
"Sonic RUclipsr Attempts To Dox Sonic The Hedgehog"
To quote Abridged Seto Kaiba for the Sonic Franchise.
"Screw you continuity!!!"
In all seriousness. No, Sonic doesn't have a house.
I like to believe that Sonic lives on his own private island.
3:58 iirc, Cream's house is present in Sonic Rush, unless I'm misremembering or getting it confused with Tails' workshop.
Will technically its Vanillas house as Cream is still living by her mother but yes both Rush map and Advance 3's true ending show Vanillas house.
I think Sonic keeps his legal residence secret, even from his friends, so that Eggman can never take advantage of it in any way.
Sonic DOES live on Earth. He's a creepy 40-year-old man in a fursuit cosplay that beats up a poor old guy named Robotnik just cause he makes robots.
0:46 What da dog doing?
My headcannon is he just crashed at tails place anytime he has to rest or take a shower
Then why do characters refer to the world as Earth?
That’s… not true. It’s called earth in sa2 and sonic prime and at least heavily implied in murder of sonic the hedgehog
I just gave up and assume whenever he needs a rest he just sleeps wherever he was standing.
We can see Cream and Vanilla's house in Rush 3:59
Sonic Room in Sonic Shuffle is the kind of house people think men vibe with
EDIT: didn't think he'll mention it in the video cause I made this before watching the video
In another episode of tailstube they answered a question what planet do they live on and tails responded with earth also they said there are two islands one with humans and one with the sonic characters
I thought Sonic was canonically a nomad
I always liked to think Sonic might have one or more cabins around the world. Nothing fancy, just small places where he can sleep and store all the mementos of his adventures. Like all the shoes and bracelets he gets through his adventures, photos, and other odds and ends. At one location I imagine he has the piece of the helicopter he sky surfed down on mounted over the fireplace. But I think he would keep these places secret, even from his friends. These would be safe places he can hide in, if need be, no can find him, and Robotnik can't boobytrap them. If he ever wants to disappear because there is just too much adventure to handle, he can just slip away to one of those places to daydream and nap without being bothered.
ok im growing a stash so before anyone says, yes they work, my face feels good
I always thought the maps in Sonic Battle were Station Square. Emerald Town being the suburbs, Central City and Night Babylon being Station Square itself, and Holy Summit being the Mystic Ruins.
Great video!!
0:45
He doesn't want to pay taxes...
Tax evasion is so easy when you run at the speed of sound
ever wonder what he uses the rings for? simple, he pays rent to tails.
