Gamma still has the most impactful death in the series for me. His story was masterfully executed in SA1, and the ending was just the cherry on top. Still one of my favorite stories in the entire series.
when gamma is speaking to amy the bird that amy has flies up in front of gamma. gamma upon seeing the bird spasms and suddenly decides to let amy go. this is likely meant to imply that gamma has obtained the ability to feel from the bird inside of him as its the sibling of the bird that he just saw. furthermore during gammas death scene he gets flashes of the memories of the bird inside of him further implying this is why he can feel.
@@Insdoodoldchannel i do think this one flicky does indeed give him the ability to feel, however flawed of a plot point that may be. i think that gamma is killing the other e-series to free the animals trapped inside them, however it is not made particularly clear if thats the case and it does confuse me to an extent. as for zero, gamma has no idea he exists, he was never seen by gamma even once unlike all the other e-series robots.
regarding the flicky though, the bird that amy had seemed to somehow know his sibling was inside gamma which i would guess implies an exceptional connection he had with his sibling that allowed him to break through to gamma
@InstantDoodles if omega has an animal inside of him it was litterally never mentioned, i think he has some sort of other power source, but they certainly don't make it very clear whether thats the case which i do find rather strange. and i personally ignore everything storywise from sonic colors onwards, just because i don't like it honestly, for the most part i hate what they did with the characters in modern games. and yeah, i do believe you are correct about the bird in the final story.
Tails: The life, also referred to as the try, is a game mechanic that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a play-turn that playable characters have, defined as the period between start and end of play, and refer to a finite number of tries before the game ends with a Game Over. This game mechanic is present in almost every major game in the Sonic series.
Most of the Ancients were wiped out, but those who fled to Angel Island survived and eventually evolved into the Chao. Chaos is a mutated Chao. This mutation brought back traits of the Ancients that had probably remained dormant in the Chao, like some form of atavism.
@@lolstalgic9602 The Master Emerald can neutralize the Chaos Emeralds, I think the Ancients evolved from generations of exposure to the Chaos Emeralds, and being around the Master Emerald devolved them back to a more basic form. The reason Chao are so malleable in terms of their appearance when they're given Chaos Drives is because their Chaos Energy is neutral, meaning it can be easily changed or shifted in one direction
Honestly, I think the 8 bit death of Tails is the most impactful, as it's the first time a death had appeared in a Sonic game, and it makes it crystal clear Dr. Eggman is willing to kill living beings to achieve his goals. And the picture of Tails' head appearing in the night sky signalling death proves that a story doesn't need words to tell itself. The picture tells the player that you failed to rescue your little buddy and that he's dead, no words needed. Just the one cutscene
@@jack_stonemeh, but ik hes a villian, but he still ended his life just for me… i miss him a lot. no more fights, no new metal sonics and no more new enemies…
Molly's and Cosmo's death in the Japanese version of Sonic X struck me the most in the Sonic franchise I've ever had. I actually cried watching both deaths. Although I enjoyed watching the English dub of Sonic X, I didn't like the way they censored Molly's death and butchering the dialogue in Cosmo's death. No true feelings for the English dub, of course. When Molly sacrifices herself during the Metarex attack after her teammates refuse to listen to her, it shocks me. My heart shatters when Rouge screams Molly's name after she was killed by the Metarex. It was heartwarming to see Shadow places the tomb for Molly. He later placed a pink rose next to Molly's grave in the Japanese version of the last episode (78). Shadow was still alive after the final battle. When Tails was hesitant to shoot Cosmo in order to save the universe, I can feel the adrenaline. It shatters my heart to see Tails screaming in anguish as he slams his head on the control panel. I broke into tears to see Tails crying as he refused to shoot Cosmo because he loved her. Ryo Hirohashi's voice performance of Tails did a perfect job. I can feel her emotions in the way she did for voicing Tails in the scene. It feels so realistic. Both deaths are the saddest in the series I've ever seen in my entire life.
- One thing's for sure that Cosmo is gone. Sonic only found a seed dispersed from that region in space. What else would he have found? - Well... **sunglasses** ...he found more than that. *YEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!*
Cosmo’s death in the Japanese version of Sonic X is just heartbreaking. Kudos to Tails Japanese VA for a heartwenching scene. Tails and Cosmo had a beautiful relationship in the Metarex saga🧡💚
Honestly, I don’t think Erazor died, I think something far worse happened. He mentions during the closing cut scene that he is immortal, by definition he cannot die, but even if he could, sonics wish was for the genie to remain in the lamp indefinitely. So when the lamp is melted in the lava, the genie soul is forever trapped in the very molecules of that melted metal. It’s highly unlikely anyone could ever salvage every last piece of that lamp so his soul is forever trapped there. Truly a fate worse than death.
I think one interesting death is literally everyone in the idw books. During the metal Virus arc Silver talks about how he came from the future and everyone was gone thanks to the virus. Eggman says that once someone becomes a zombot they will eventually dissolve and die it’s said to take hundreds of years but still. It’s also interesting because it’s said that without Silver help that the heroes failed to stop the virus and everyone eventually got infected and died . It could be considered a technicality because we don’t see it but Silver did come his future where everyone was dead.
Imagine going back home from a 6-months war and find... a completely desolate world with no one in it. Makes me wonder if whenever Silver goes back in time, he becomes an out-of-time-and-space/paradoxical existence or else he wouldn't be around to stop the virus to begin with.
@@MaxusFox23 honestly ya that’s really interesting to think about. We’re not totally sure on how Silvers time travel works but it really was that he got done fighting in the war, went home and then immediately had to turn around and go back because it was a dead world.
Cosmo’s death always stuck out to me because how it taught Tails that everything wasn’t sunshine and rainbows. It was warming to see her leftover seed in a few places meaning he kept dear to her However as of recent the concept of her seed just vanished which feels like a kick in the nuts for one of the most saddest deaths of Sonic History
There's something so chilling watching Gerald talk while being chained and then hearing the signal for the firing squad. Those old graphics just add to the experience
Molly's definitely was pure tragedy. Everyone around her knew the fight was a lost cause and still tried her best. From almost being assassinated by her friend with a bomb to essentially going kamikaze in front of the squad that turned their backs on her and exploding right in front of the one person that, despite everything, genuinely tried to cheer her up... and then we discover that same squad, after switching sides, had their graves dug in advance. Nothing but a tale of betrayal and despair. I'm surprised you didn't mention all the onscreen deaths from Sonic X because the Metarex were the prime example of genocidal bastards, having even killed most of their own race.
In Sonic Unwiished ( unleashed for the wii ) there's a girl in Adabat who says that her father died when the planet shattered. I thought I could mention it since you forgot about it in the video
So are we just gonna forget Blaze's sacrifice at the end of Silver's Story in Sonic 06 where she uses her body as a vessel to seal Iblis away thus giving Silver a brighter future in his timeline?
@@noahmaldonado5461 yeah i agree with this person, like i know 06 is looked down upon because of the painful controls and quality, but they should still add blaze's in there.
Regarding the Ancients, I thought that some survived and eventually evolved into the Chao, with Chaos being an example of how a species can evolve into a previous state.
Exactly what I thought. Their civilization was wiped out, but that doesn't mean that no one survived The End. It was practically next to no one, so the Ancients as an advanced society died presumably some time after this, evolving and becoming what we now know as Chao
@@shadiussokralio1901 they even mention in the game how a few of them survived and made it to Angel Island before The End attacked the Starfall Islands.
I think that we can't say that the Deadly Six are dead, since they reappear in the IDW, and Ian Flynn just confirmed that those are canon . Very cool video by the way !
@ridley the dragon really? Which bumblecast interview? Also that can taken that IDW is alt universe in the game continuity not in the main universe of it.
@ridley the dragon When did Iizuka make such a claim? Considering the references and what's established so far from IDW in Frontiers, I don't think that's possible.
Definitely my "favorite" deaths were from Gamma and Cosmo. Their backstories are just one of the most well-executed in the series and the fact they don't even have a chance to come back again (yeah, I know Gamma is in Sonic Battle, but, tbh, it's just a clone from himself, just like the other E-100 seeing on SA2, for example) was absolutely a master playfull.
@@elmemearana Well… you never know when SEGA decides do bring back obscure characters to squeeze that last bit of nostalgia from fans… But seriously, bringing back Cosmo could actually be good for the franchise if done right. It would trigger nostalgia in those who knew and those who didn’t wouldn’t really mind.
I’m glad Mecha Sonic MK II is being brought back in the IDW Comics with Scrapnik Island as I always thought he had a lot more potential as a possible recurring character. Plus the sprite community has definitely made sure he wasn’t forgotten. From what I understand about the Ancients, I just assumed after they sealed away The End within cyberspace, the remaining members migrated to Angel Island and the Mystic Ruins where over hundreds to thousands of years, radiation from the Master Emerald caused them to mutate into the Chao. That would explain why Chaos looks very similar to the Ancients even though he’s supposed to be a mutated Chao himself. Plus in one of the Egg Memos, Eggman states that Chaos’s DNA is very similar to that of the Ancients which helps back up my assumption.
So, we do know what happened to Tikal, actually. She stops Chaos’ rampage short before he destroys the whole world by sealing both herself and Chaos inside of the Master Emerald. I don’t know for sure if this part is said anywhere in canon but I believe it’s at least implied that she loses her physical body in the process of that. Her spirit is then released from the emerald alongside Chaos at the start of Adventure
Speaking of overlooked SA2 plot points like Team Dark blowing up Prison Island, before the first Tails vs. Eggman bossfight, Tails mentions the news talking about Sonic (wich is actually Shadow, who is being mistaken by Sonic) robbing banks and comitting crimes in the city. No one ever talks about these minor crimes Shadow supposedly comitted for pretty much no reason in SA2 and it makes me mad ngl
Not sure if someone said it, but a group from IDW known as the Diamond Cutters had most of their members meet a gruesome fate. The diamond cutters were a group of 5 Mobians resisting Eggman's influence, performing hit and runs. It consisted of Mimic the Octopus, Claire Voyant the...monkey I think, Smithy the Lion, Slinger the Ocelot, and Whisper the Wolf. Mimic, their shapeshifting infiltrator got information about an eggman base, which could cause massive blackouts for eggmans operations if destroyed. While Claire Voyant, their psy-op, sensed something bad upcoming, they only asked their sniper, Whisper, to hold back and keep an eye on the entrance. When they reached the base, Mimic shapeshifted into an eggpawn for further investigation. However, as the three within the building, the building locked itself up, and a horde of shadow androids emerged. Claire Voyant, Smithy, and Slinger opened fire with their weapons, but were soon overwhelmed and likely torn apart or beaten to death. Mimic had betrayed the Diamond Cutters in order for a pardon for his involvement from eggman. However, Whisper, who was outside watching the entrance, likely heard the radio feedback, and hid within a tree. Mimic's goal now is to track down Whisper and finish the job, as Eggman is on his case for failing to take out all 4. He was temporarily imprisoned, but later escaped. His current whereabouts are unknown.
18:49 one to thing note is that during the fifth twitter qna is that Shadow mentions that Black Doom is still alive. They had dinner and they ordered ginger ale at the same time. Black Doom claims it’s because they’re related. I know it’s probably not canon but I just thought it should be brought up.
@@thegeth4293 The ancients evolved into chao. Chaos is one of the ancients who evolved into a chao and devolved because of the master emeralds' energy, thus retaining a very identical body shape & color to the ancients.
Death is a Rarity in the Franchise, the Echidna Tride Medleling with Power,G.U.N bringing a Massacre in the Ark on Space,Shadow’s Sacrifice, the E Series,The Black Arms,The Babylon’s Family Extinction, the Ancients, the Caos, whatever Happened in Forces, and the Darkest One of Them All Everything About Sonic 06.
As for Mecha Sonic, I would like to bring up the IDW comics. In the miniseries, Scrapnik Island, Mecha Sonic MKII reappears in a rusted and busted state, just like all of the other "scrapniks" on the island. Mecha Knuckles is there, too. This pretty much contradicts those deaths listed in the video. Just wanted to point that out
Interesting thing to note: In Sonic Forces Speed Battle, characters that have “died” enter the race with a heavenly glow, those two characters are Tikal and Longclaw. Chaos is does not have that effect. Also, according to SEGA the plot of SFSB is that only your player character is real, and your opponents are illusions created by Infinite.
Cosmo’s death had a big impact on me because I watched both English and Japanese because I watched the English I didn’t understand some of the dialogue but when I watched the Japanese version, I understood it a bit more and I cried
The Zeti return in the IDW comics (and are developed a bit more as well) and there was an entire mini-arc with Mecha Sonic, Mecha Knuckles, and countless other destroyed and abandoned robots. Also, the comics show that there were a lot of deaths from the war in Forces, including Whisper's whole crew.
Considering the "Chao" in your name, I'm surprised you didn't mention the Chao who go into gray cocoons and die after you've abused them a number of times. I guess this doesn't fully count since it only happens in game rather than any of the stories. There's also the ending of Silver's story in Sonic 06 where Blaze sacrificed herself, though it's unknown what her fate was. I remember back in 2006, I was worried about whether this would stick or not since I thought she was one of the best female characters in the game, and it wasn't shown how much was undone by the reset button in the end. Thankfully Blaze continued to appear in games afterwards, so we know she's not dead. I can definitely understand why you only stuck with the games and Sonic X since the Archie comics have enough deaths to be its own subject. I know Sonictoast made a video covering five of them. The Fleetway comics had a few as well which Sonic the Comic Reviews covered.
since 06 technically got erased from the timeline its implead the silver we know is from rivals and the blaze we know is from sonic rush. funnily enough in sonic colors ds there's a moment where these two interact for what is technically the fist time (remeber 06 got erased) and either sonic or tails makes a comment saying something like "wow you two work well together" as a reference to there dynamic in 06)
@@Lumis_The_Lucarioexcept that falls apart since Sonic remembers the events of 06. Iizuka has also stated that Shadow remembers 06 as well, Blaze has some recollection of 06, and Elise also has some recollection as wel. Everybody else doesn’t remember, including Silver.
A theory that I’ve seen and agree with us that Blaze sent herself to the Sol Dimension. In 06, Blaze had asked Silver to seal her into another dimension, and the only other place we’ve seen her from is the Sol Dimension, so it can be assumed that’s where she was sealed to. Maekawa wanted a sense of connection between Sonic 06 and Sonic Rush, and Manaita had always believed that 06 and Rush were intentionally written with a connection to each other. This essentially means that Blaze originated from the future and NOT the Sol Dimension. She sealed herself into the Sol Dimension, not originating from there.
Oh yes. The one where Blaze sacrificed herself was the first time I cryed because of a character death in a videogame and also because Blaze is my favorite Sonic character.
On the point with Chaos, I think he can go back and forth between the afterlife and the living world. In the Sonic Forces prequel comics, Knuckles doesn’t seem surprised to see Chaos emerging from the Master Emerald (even though it was an illusion, but he didn’t know that), so that suggests that this isn’t uncommon and has happened a few times before.
I had a whole comment written out about how Ian Flynn wrote both Stress Test and an Archie issue where Chaos returned and that even though Archie wasn't canon you could assume that this piece of lore was, but then I remembered "Oh yeah, Sonic Battle is canon, Chaos literally awakened in that game," so that was a waste of time.
Something I would like to note about a few characters mentioned in this video is some of them are confirmed to have survived (At least in the modern era). Mecha Sonic and Mecha Knuckles survive because we see them in Scrapnik island. All of the deadly six survive as well since we see them in the main IDW comic series. I'd also like to mention before anyone says "IDW isn't canon", that I'm afraid to say that we've had two times now this has been proven false. 1. Tangle is mentioned in Frontiers. 2. Sega confirmed that another story in a free comic book day issue of IDW Sonic was the prequel to Sonic Frontiers: Convergence. Anyways, awesome video! Definitely subscribing to the channel!
I know this video's a year old at this point, but there's a chunk of unaccounted-for deaths within Forces with one of the stages. During the game's penultimate stage, Final Judgement, part of the stage requires running down a long shaft before getting to the Phantom Ruby generators at the bottom of the stage. Thing is, in the background of the stage it's shown there are a TON of Mobians trapped in capsules along the stage walls as you're running down. And upon destroying the generators, the entire stage just outright explodes as you Double Boost to get away to the end of the stage. So there's a huge amount of deaths in just that one stage alone that everyone seems to forget.
8:18 O.O wait if that's the case then, that little Sonic Adventure 2 Promo for Sonic saying something like "Good bye Sonic, forever..." was actually real?! Sonic as an IP was supposed to die after SA2?! That's insane to think about
I'm pretty sure one of the Egg Memos hints at the Ancients evolving into the Chao, and that's why Chaos is a thing. Radiation made him evolve backwards. So while they're technically not *dead* dead, the Ancients as they were prior to their evolution no longer exist.
If we count the IDW comics (which could be considered loose canon at this point, given that Tangle is namedropped in Frontiers), then Mecha Sonic Mk2, Mecha Knuckles and the Deadly Six are all still around. The Deadly Six return in the Metal Virus saga, and Mecha Sonic & Mecha Knuckles both return in the Scrapnik Island miniseries.
This is the first video of yours that I watched after I subbed and it feels great! Especially after I binge-watched your ENTIRE channel. I was so upset when I realized there is no more chaomix videos for me to watch right now, but I guess now I'm even more hyped for the new ones :D Thank you for your dedicated work, I appreciate it!
My favorite death has got to be Chao when it has been owned for a long time but doesn't reincarnate. Which is interesting now considering Frontiers story actually.
@@thegeth4293 No, she literally gets desingrated and disapears into the heavens and also why do you think Blaze doesn't appear at the last story on that weird dimension thing Solaris created? Because she's dead, Shadow literally says that thing is a "Time-SPACE Rift" and that makes sense as Silver was in the future at that time and still got transported there, even if Blaze got sealed into a different dimension she would've been there anyway because she IS DEAD!!
The Sonic series definitely expects suspension of disbelief for a lot of collateral deaths, but damn it did not pull punches in some of its earlier games, and a lot of the comics. People shit on Shadow's story, but he gets a tremendous amount of character development, and has ample reasons to be the way he is. I never expected Sonic X to get as dark as it did with Tails. The comics also still dance around visible death, but they hit some pretty dark topics and scenarios with the (more recent likes of) the Diamond Cutters, and Surge and Kitsunami.
The deadly six definitely are not dead because in the IDW comics which are now Canon thanks to frontiers features them near the end of the metal virus arc so there still alive (Unfortunately)
Just cause Tangle is mentioned doesn't mean the entire universe is part of it. Other characters appear in there like Sticks but that doesn't imply the entire Sonic Boom cast includes.
Well the actual IDW comic confirmed there were deaths during the Sonic Forces war, with a line from Amy walking thru one of Robotnik’s old abandoned bases, she tells Sonic while he was captured after looking at a discarded army helmet, that they lost a lot of good people during a particular battle at that base & then there is the backstory to Whisper the Wolf
8:50 The mecha sonic in sonic two is called Robo Sonic in the lego stuff. It's helpful to not confuse it with the other Mecha Sonic, though if it's "Canonisity" is obviously dubious.
12:45 I always think about this when I play Sonic Adventure. Like...day saved, I guess. _But the city is dead._ (They have some background cheering, I assume to imply the people miraculously survived, but...nah, they dead.)
it wasn’t just Cosmo who died, it was her entire species! Don’t forget the entire population of the planets the meterex stole planet eggs from either. speaking of which later the rebellion group molly was apart of also died. And don’t forget operation big wave from forces.
Emerl and Cosmo’s deaths both hit me hard, although Cosmo’s death hits harder because… Well, Emerl technically came back and lives on through Gemerl. Cosmo, however, stayed dead.
I think the deadly six are alive. In the idw books they’re seen alive and well and since the idw comics are considered canon now, they’re definitely okay.
@@playerback7722 that debunk is wrong. Izuka has never said that they were taken out of canon. They were just put into canon like 2 months ago. I looked around and nothing like that was said.
The IDW comics are kinda canon now, so if those are counted, then the Deadly Six are definitely still alive on the Lost Hex. Mecha Sonic mk2 and Mecha Knuckles are also alive on an island in the sea filled with a bunch of Eggman's old scrapped inventions.
Yeah I was gonna say, IDW confirms Mecha Sonic Mk II and Mecha Knuckles are both still alive now. Plus a good death for this list would be Starline, a major villain with a pretty painful death.
The saddest part about Gamma is that he didn't die to be free. He killed himself to set the bird inside him free. They are completely different entities, yet he choses to end his life in order to give back theirs.
Dude Infinite returning and being the only one who can phisically interact with Sage and threatening Eggman to put her dowb because he left him to rot inside the Phantom Ruby would be kinda cool I think
You forgot all the prisoners on the death egg in forces. During the fight with Zavok you can see all the prisoners cheering sonic on, only to explode with the death egg. I don’t know if its been stated that they were all rescued beforehand.
I think that actually was considered canon during the metal virus arc since amy mentions how they lost a lot of freedom fighters with the big implication that the majority they had in the beginning were captured and imprisoned on the Death Egg before having to recruit more as Sonic managed to escape.
Note: in the original timeline in Sonic 06, Iblis and Blaze are 'sealed away forever', which is basically the same as Chip's version of death but without the "I'm still around" part (which may be worth mentioning). It is also entirely up for debate whether the death of Solaris wiped either or both of Silver and Blaze from existence, since their story was set 200 years in the future and the sequence of events that led to them being born could easily have played out differently.
Thats a huge can of worms i still see people talking about, since originally blaze wasnt from the future, she was from an alternate dimension, and in 06 Blaze expresses no familiarity with Sonic, or even talks to him. The trick is about how the game retcons itself and reverts Silvers future, yet, we still see her and Silver in Generations and other media. So its assumed the canon is they go with the Sol Dimension idea of Blaze, and that 06 is inconsequential completely, but it does raise the question of Silver which I'm not sure will ever be elaborated on outside the comics. The character could use a new introduction, clearly despite debuting in a terrible game they like keeping the goof around, hes been getting toys and merch so there's some market appeal there.
@@ORLY911 silver does show up in sonic rivals and i think in that timeline he's in a different future, so he was always going to be born but iirc he doesn't remember sonic et al in rivals
@@ORLY911 tbh i like to think that Rush is a sequel to 06, since Blaze does seem to show some signs of knowing Sonic already, but being cold to him since she never actually met Sonic besides them being around to witness Eggman and Elise explode at Kingdom Valley, so its likely the sealing of Iblis into her heart and being sent to another dimension (Which remember, she does tell Silver to do, to, send her and the sealed Iblis to another dimension) kinda fucked up her memory a little.
Based on Ian Flynns recent statements making the games and the comics possibly being canon together, I think it's safe to assume that the Deadly Six all survive, and do come back to get revenge
Well, considering that "Everything is canon" according to Ian Flynn, that means that the IDW comics and games are linked. And since the Deadly Six are all present in the comics, they did not die in Lost World.
Gamma is a death done right. He has the perfect arc. He shows that you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover (An Eggman robot being the hero behind the scenes)
Regarding the Deadly Six, they do reappear a few times in the IDW comics. The comics have been referencing the main game events as well as filling in lore gaps like why Wisps are still a thing since Colours, so their intent appears to be that they are canon material. Hell, Frontiers namedrops Tangle, who is a character originally from the IDW comics (before appearances in mobile games, that is). So yeah, Deadly Six still around. Also, the comics do them far more justice than Lost World ever did.
One death that you have missed was in Sonic CD, if Sonic neglects destroying the transporters located in the past or collects the time stones. The player receives the bad ending where Sonic escaped Dr. Eggman's lair with Amy Rose. When he landed back from the hill at Never Lake, Little Planet rises back into the air, and Dr. Eggman flies away in his Egg Mobile carrying the time stones that Sonic neglected to collect, Sonic grabbed a rock, did a spindash and threw the rock at the evil doctor. The Egg Mobile exploded, the explosion was the shape of Dr. Eggman's logo which is his face, implying that Sonic ended Dr. Eggman for good. However, what Sonic did ended in vain because with the time stones in Eggman's palm, he chained Little Planet back to the hill of Never Lake, Eggman's laugh is heard on the background and "Try Again" text appeared, forcing Sonic to be in an endless loop unless he collects the time stones.
I love the fact that you only included deaths from the games and only Sonic X since I would honestly do the same thing because Sonic X is the only Sonic tv show that I personally care about
About Chaos's death: Lizuka has said that he believes for Chaos to be in the afterlife plainly too, but that just seemed... quickly blurted out to me, which happens a lot in interviews with sonic team. I point that out because Sonic Battle tried to imply that Chaos is around, but just mainly in hiding and the game should be concidered canon since Gemerl from Advance 3 is seen in modern material andthat game directly follows up Battle's story One last thing is that while seemingly not confirmed to be the approved explanation by anyone at sonic team we do know that at least the INTENTION of the ripple in that pool in Sonic Frontiers Divergence is supposed to be Chaos hanging out So... things are still up in the air and not as clear cut as I thought too, especially that the interview where the "Chaos is in heaven" happened before the lore team was a thing
"There's a surprising amount of them if you can believe it, but not as many as the number of people who watch my videos but aren't subscribed to the channel." This is insanely the best RUclips channel subscribe request line I have ever seen. You deserve my subscribe, Chaomix!
5:20 to me, in that ending, Tails doesn't really die. When Sonic looks up, he sees Tails in the sky, i think implying Sonic really misses him. Instead of him just straight up dying.
@@l_guywell, yeah. Otherwise it begs the question of why he didn't just kill him earlier. Even with him pointing a gun to Amy's head example. Even when her role as a bargaining chip was over and therefore had no more use, he didn't shoot her despite having nothing to lose from it. Tails was already angered by Sonic's "death" so if anything nothing would've changed beyond getting rid of a potential thorn in his side in the future. And we can't forget Forces. The game where Sonic gets defeated and all he does is lock him up.
22:16 Technically we do see them in IDW and those comics are confirmed canon by Ian Flynn to my knowledge so we do see them again. Which also includes Mecha Sonic Mark 2 and Mecha Knuckles.
They aren’t cannon. Ian Flynn said that those references in the dialogue when you’re running round the island where just for fun and didn’t mean anything. Ian Flynn needs to learn that if you put your references in a cannn game people are going to take it as cannon
@@teamdarkfan317 He says in the bumblecast series that they are cannon as long as they don’t contradict the games. And them bringing back the Deadly Six doesn’t contradict with the games since we don’t know if the puff of smoke confirms they are no longer alive or not. But it does throw a wrench in the Mechas as they do explode into tons of pieces. But I don’t think that’s enough to not consider them cannon.
It is implied that Eggman Negative was also dead due to him being trapped in the ifrit dimension as well. Plus the Deadly six did show up in the idw comics which is after Forces.
Shadow can also kill the president in a dark path level. And I'm pretty sure some secret service members and other staff members of his are aboard his escape craft when it blows.
So a few additional information's: - Yes Tikal died that day her father attacked the Chao. The Sonic Adventure navigation guide state that Tikal sealed Chaos along side her soul meaning only a lifeless body of her remained as her soul was now together with Chaos in the Master Emerald - No Chaos isn't dead that his appearance in Sonic Battle wasn't a non-canon cameo was confirmed by Sonic Forces second official canon prequel Comic "Stress test" where knuckles explains to Silver why he shouldn't worry about Chaos after he appeared (unbeknownst to Knuckles was this however not the real Chaos who as Knuckles states is peaceful nowadays but a Phantom Ruby Copy) - If we want to talk about deaths in Shadow's solo game would there also be the funny time the Black Comet just crashed on top of a large City. We don't know which City it is but that is properly a few deaths more. - So we just gonna glose over that Time in 06 were Solaris nuked the Universe and killed like everyone past, present and future across the entire universe not just earth. - I mean in Secret Rings was Solomon reduced to a undead skeleton does that count for anything? And technically its a story mission that Sonic un-alives again the 40 thieves after Erazor resurrected them. - Are you really skipping Sonic killing Arthur in Black Knight here? You gave Robots with far less personality then him a shutout so this magic construct counts. - You literally just showed Infinite turning 3 Resistance fights into vapor of cause Infinite is killing them. And Knuckles got 80% of there forces "wiped out" you used the same wording to state that Shadow killed Infinites squad. Just a few minor things: - We known't actually know how many characters temporarily died in Lost World. Knuckles and Amy were dead for sure but Eggman does mentioned that there was still enough life on Earth for him to conquer so its possible a lot of Characters did survive we just don't know how many. - I'm not sure how Molly is anywhere top 3 if we by counting X have to Emerl Deaths on this list. - Actually did Elise and Eggman not die when Sonic and Silver had they talk. Chaos Control was shown to only cause causal loops. In the original timeline were both died did Silver never came back as Mephiles created the timeline split to create a timeline in which he can actually win as the original one lead to Silvers bad future rather than the rebirth of Solaris. - Not sure if you tried to imply it but Erazor isn't dead. He can't die he is immortal. Granted Sonic gave him a fate worse than Death but still technically not dead. - Sega has a tendency to not allow dead characters to be alive again in the Comics so the fact that all 6 Zeti re-appeared in the IDW Sonic Comics means that they are properly still alive. - Yes the End skilled most of the Ancients but between Chaos own backstory "being a mutated Chao" which was confirmed to still be canon. And the Egg Memo's saying that the Ancients are related to Chaos does that mean that they survivors mutated into Chao over time (properly thanks to the Master Emerald) - Counting Sonic X because of collaboration with Sonic Team should also put the by now arguably canon IDW Comics and Sonic Prime on the "to be considered" list for this video
@@chaomix King Arthur wasn't a illusion he was a magical construct. You can in-game find books that show that Arthur actually lifed a real life before immortality rotted his Character. If the Robots like Metal Sonic and Gamma count as Characters that can die than so certainly should Arthur.

Metal Sonic dying always struck a chord with me because I have a very big connection to characters that are clones who want to be their own person but are trapped, that's why I feel bad for scourge and the comics even though he is a bad guy because he just wants to stop being Sonic. He wants to be his own person. (My narcissistic father basically kept me and called me by his dead kid's name and wanted me to replace them. Really fucked up shit.) So I connect to a lot of these clone characters a little bit too much and feel so bad when they die. Cosmo shattered me as a child I'm not even going to lie, the fact that she was a plant and became a tree actually really upset me because I had like deep paganism beliefs as a child that people became trees when they died, and that you know the trees were the most important thing so see her become a tree to defend him gutted me on a level of symbolism. And then he has to kill her in that just utterly broke my heart like I can't even play here, watching Cosmo die is so painful.
If you think about, billions of people have died in the Sonicverse. Some cases such as -Perfect Chaos flooding Station Square, maybe some civilians survived but the ones in the buildings were the water was so powerful it literally shattered them definitely didn’t -Over hundreds of people were killed during the Black Arms invasions, some newspapers mention this -All those scientists Shadow killed on the ark during the Pure Dark oute of Shadow’s game -Solaris erasing the world, only happens temporarily but still -All that people that died when Eggman used the Chaos Energy Cannon to split a whole continent from the Earth, there’s no way someone didn’t die -All the animals that died when Zavok drained the planet of its life. Yes they’re revived but it still counts -The countless amount of people who died during the war caused by Eggman and Infinite
there was a theory of tails stay dead in sonic 3 which is a standalone timeline where the stages you go through in sonic 3 not & knuckles are the points of grief and loss.
19:30 I thought that since sonic went back in time at one point , he was always on that ship when it started crashing. What sonic couldn't see from that explosion was the final cutscene of Sonic's story , Were he carries Elise off the ship and the explosion propels them onto the cliffside (aswell eggman isn't dead because by then , he would have already been evacuated from Sonic's final boss)
There's a near uncountable in Preboot Archie due to the reality warp, while there's at least three known Reboot-only Archie deaths- Rotor's mother, Sally's mother, and Nikki the Lynx. Technically more, as drafts for Universe 95 hint Antoine's parents passed away pre-main story, as does Nicole's own Origins backstory.
@@amesstarline5482 well I meant all of the Archie comics in general. Gamma still has the most impactful death in the series for me. His story was masterfully executed in SA1, and the ending was just the cherry on top. Still one of my favorite stories in the entire series.
Definitely his story is the cherry on top in sa1
when gamma is speaking to amy the bird that amy has flies up in front of gamma. gamma upon seeing the bird spasms and suddenly decides to let amy go. this is likely meant to imply that gamma has obtained the ability to feel from the bird inside of him as its the sibling of the bird that he just saw. furthermore during gammas death scene he gets flashes of the memories of the bird inside of him further implying this is why he can feel.

She can also go back to her physical form at the ends, but idk if that's a ghost or not
Speaking of overlooked SA2 plot points like Team Dark blowing up Prison Island, before the first Tails vs.
I thought he was robbing banks while looking for the emeralds
Cosmos death as a kid was hard to watch. It was sad but beautiful since it affected tails and his character development.

I know Sonic does remember 06 events given the Japanese dialogue of TSR. But, Shadow, too? Where was it stated?
On the point with Chaos, I think he can go back and forth between the afterlife and the living world. In the Sonic Forces prequel comics, Knuckles doesn’t seem surprised to see Chaos emerging from the Master Emerald (even though it was an illusion, but he didn’t know that), so that suggests that this isn’t uncommon and has happened a few times before.
he and siver thought they traveled back in time, thats why he isnt surprised by that.
"I'm joking but I'm also kinda not"
Yes. It DOES look like the alien from Chicken Little.

Because she's dead, Shadow literally says that thing is a "Time-SPACE Rift" and that makes sense as Silver was in the future at that time and still got transported there, even if Blaze got sealed into a different dimension she would've been there anyway because she IS DEAD!!
@@tiburondrogado7612 well uh she appears in generations so she isn’t actually dead
@@TathomA6 The timeline gets reset after 06's ending, that's why she's there but she still dies in 06.
6:19 to make this even darker the reason he wasn’t in the call was probably because he already died before Amy made the call
HOLY SHIT I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT-
The deadly six definitely are not dead because in the IDW comics which are now Canon thanks to frontiers features them near the end of the metal virus arc so there still alive

Just cause Tangle is mentioned doesn't mean the entire universe is part of it. Other characters appear in there like Sticks but that doesn't imply the entire Sonic Boom cast includes.
@@playerback7722 It kinda does, cause it's the same guy for both things, the man, the myth, the Ian Flynn.
@Playerback 772 No one said Boom was canon though. Sticks is just canon in the mainline games, just like the IDW cast.

9:40 actually, Mecha Mark II survives, as shown in the IDW arc Scrapnik Island, same with Mecha Knuckles.
_But the city is dead._

Someone debunked that on reply on this comment section when someone else made a similar comment

@@the_acquainted_guy painful yes, but very well deserved for everything he had done.
@@eggguy20 they lost a lot of the "Resistance"
Sonic adventure 1 :the station square are destroyed
Tails : It's everything going to be okay
@Sono in the IDW comic which is now canon to the games, Silver is from the future and Blaze is from another dimension, so I guess both are kinda true
Aw man I was wanting for a video like this! Great job chaomix!
I love the fact that you only included deaths from the games and only Sonic X since I would honestly do the same thing because Sonic X is the only Sonic tv show that I personally care about
22:51 chaomix the deadly six are not dead there in idw so that means they were just teleported somewhere
About Chaos's death: Lizuka has said that he believes for Chaos to be in the afterlife plainly too, but that just seemed... quickly blurted out to me, which happens a lot in interviews with sonic team. I point that out because Sonic Battle tried to imply that Chaos is around, but just mainly in hiding and the game should be concidered canon since Gemerl from Advance 3 is seen in modern material andthat game directly follows up Battle's story
One last thing is that while seemingly not confirmed to be the approved explanation by anyone at sonic team we do know that at least the INTENTION of the ripple in that pool in Sonic Frontiers Divergence is supposed to be Chaos hanging out
So... things are still up in the air and not as clear cut as I thought too, especially that the interview where the "Chaos is in heaven" happened before the lore team was a thing

5:20 to me, in that ending, Tails doesn't really die. When Sonic looks up, he sees Tails in the sky, i think implying Sonic really misses him. Instead of him just straight up dying.

Technically we do see them in IDW and those comics are confirmed canon by Ian Flynn to my knowledge so we do see them again.
Someone had a video about its contradictions.
@@playerback7722 Can you link me to it?
Side note: I don’t count any contradictions that falls in line with what the games contradict.
So a few additional information's:
- Yes Tikal died that day her father attacked the Chao. The Sonic Adventure navigation guide state that Tikal sealed Chaos along side her soul meaning only a lifeless body of her remained as her soul was now together with Chaos in the Master Emerald
- No Chaos isn't dead that his appearance in Sonic Battle wasn't a non-canon cameo was confirmed by Sonic Forces second official canon prequel Comic "Stress test" where knuckles explains to Silver why he shouldn't worry about Chaos after he appeared (unbeknownst to Knuckles was this however not the real Chaos who as Knuckles states is peaceful nowadays but a Phantom Ruby Copy)
- If we want to talk about deaths in Shadow's solo game would there also be the funny time the Black Comet just crashed on top of a large City.
Just a few minor things:
- We known't actually know how many characters temporarily died in Lost World.
And the Egg Memo's saying that the Ancients are related to Chaos does that mean that they survivors mutated into Chao over time (properly thanks to the Master Emerald)
- Counting Sonic X because of collaboration with Sonic Team should also put the by now arguably canon IDW Comics and Sonic Prime on the "to be considered" list for this video
King Arthur was an illusion created by Merlin, he wasn’t even real lol

King Arthur wasn't a illusion he was a magical construct.
You can in-game find books that show that Arthur actually lifed a real life before immortality rotted his Character.
If the Robots like Metal Sonic and Gamma count as Characters that can die than so certainly should Arthur.
@@chaomix also in the first ending of the Sonic 8-bit game, Sonic and Tails both appear in the stars despite clearly being alive. It’s likely that he’s just missing Tails.
22:40 the deadly six are in the IDW comics and are canonically post-sonic boom so if you count the comics theyre very much alive
If you think about, billions of people have died in the Sonicverse. Some cases such as
-Perfect Chaos flooding Station Square, maybe some civilians survived but the ones in the buildings were the water was so powerful it literally shattered them definitely didn’t
-Over hundreds of people were killed during the Black Arms invasions, some newspapers mention this
-All those scientists Shadow killed on the ark during the Pure Dark oute of Shadow’s game
-Solaris erasing the world, only happens temporarily but still
-All that people that died when Eggman used the Chaos Energy Cannon to split a whole continent from the Earth, there’s no way someone didn’t die
-All the animals that died when Zavok drained the planet of its life. Yes they’re revived but it still counts
-The countless amount of people who died during the war caused by Eggman and Infinite
8:18 that made me laugh out loud.
Edit: you forgot that Metal had been deactivated in Sonic Heroes.
there was a theory of tails stay dead in sonic 3 which is a standalone timeline where the stages you go through in sonic 3 not & knuckles are the points of grief and loss.
Technically you didn’t mention every Death in the series. What about the deaths from the Fleetway,Archie, and IDW Comics?
There's a near uncountable in Preboot Archie due to the reality warp, while there's at least three known Reboot-only Archie deaths- Rotor's mother, Sally's mother, and Nikki the Lynx.
