I suppose that makes sense. The Perfect Chili Dog was made by an older Sonic who has refined his taste. Archie Comic hotdog was Sonic when he was younger still a good classic chili dog but could use a bit more oomph.
two things i appreciate here: it's absolutely just from them expanding on the whole "sonic loves chili dogs" thing but the archie version of sonic at this stage feels so much younger than current modern sonic in vibes that it almost feels like Chili Dog A La Sonic is just meant to be easy to make (one pan dish to boot!) and over time sonic just started getting really into it (official cookbook recipe). the second is that i'm pretty sure the newer version of the chili has caffeine content due to the coffee
Also makes sense for why Archie Sonic's is sweeter - He's younger, so would like sweeter things (I doubt the comic artists knew this at the time, but that idea is scientifically confirmed. Your tastebuds become more sensitive to sweet the older you get, presumably because sugar is calorie dense and you need a lot more calories when growing)

for anyone who needs to make substitutions: regular garlic is NOT a substitute for black garlic. Black garlic is mild with a sweet fermented taste. Reduced balsamic vinegar makes a better substitution. Kewpie is not a "special Japanese mayo" either, you can find it at most grocery stores that have an international aisle now, but if you can't find it just use Duke's with a punch of sugar. Kewpie is just a soy-based mayo with a light sweet element.

We take a hotdog from the roller (Which is a rolling grill for hotdogs and other round foods) and throw it in the bun. We add the chili on top of the dog, a good sprinkle of shredded cheese from the salad station, and steam it in a little steamer. (It's like a flat toaster.) It's funny that all of them fit their reapective characters. Chilidog a la Sonic: Simple with a fun cooking process for the dog. The Perfect Chilidog: spicier than the original, like Sonic got more used to spice and found his preference. A Rival's Chilidog: Coleslaw making it feel more watered down makes sense for Silver, since he seems a bit calmer than Sonic. Catch-o-the-Day Dog: Big likes to fish. The Perfect Egg-dog: Not only are the more expensive ingredients absolutely something Eggman would do, but even calling it the 'Perfect Egg-dog' makes it sound like he's both proclaiming his intelligence and genius in creating it in the first place, and that it rivals Sonic's Chilidog.
Regular garlic is not a replacement for black garlic. It has a completely different flavor profile, but it's really easy to make if you have a slow cooker and some patience.
As someone who actually eats homemade chili with coleslaw, I feel like I'd totally enjoy Silver's chili-dog. Granted, I do make coleslaw a certain way and am rather picky about it. Either way, this might convince me to buy the cookbook, I love making chili and I want something with more heat to it (maybe not simmered as long, the acidity from tomatoes/tomato paste gets stronger the longer you cook them, gives me awful heart burn.)
The Rivals Chili Dog is actually a real regional hot dog style from the Carolinas. Not defending it or anything, but it is based on an actual hot dog style.
Tuna salad life hack: The water of the tuna can has flavor in it. From the canning process, it's basically a fish broth. So, for a bit more flavor for the can, add in the water as well. Use instant potato flakes to get the texture back to where it needs to be.

I remember when Sonic used FÜM to chill on Sonic Adventure 10, what a time...
I watched this while making Sonic's chili from the official cookbook haha. I've tried the Archie comic recipe and Silvers as well and I like all of them, but I think I like the Archie one the best :3 The BBQ sauce is just so good!
I feel like a better coleslaw recipe, especially a vinegar based one rather than mayo based (like the kind used on pulled pork sandwiches) would really compliment the chili dog more
I like how you said the name of the sauce slow to say it right and still said it wrong
The eggdog got the Catch of the day dog's title card in the top left
That thumbnail is cursed 💀💀
6:15 Blud smoking on that Dr. Eggman pack 😹🙏
I can attest on the Archie dog. I made that one last year and it's pretty bangin. Though now I feel like I HAVE to try this cookbook version.
I bet Shadows would have Jalapeño in it, so on the off chance, when Sonic bites into it, he immediately regrets it. And Shadow just has a High Spice tolerance
unfortunate for your stomach
It's not that bad, whenever I eat chilli dogs, I eat them in groups of 3 or 4 and I'm always fine afterwards
@@Ollie.H-23whenever I eat a chili dog, a couple hours or so later (maybe minutes idk) it’s a war in the bathroom
Never forget that people train for Hot Dog eating contest. Speaking of which, it's been a while since I had anything from Sonic. Excuse me fellas, I'm...heading to my local Sonic
@@SpinKreator mate, what do you put in them?
Explodable Chili dog
you can just make black garlic with regular garlic in a dehydrator, a rice cooker or a fermentation station, it just takes a few weeks and some alum foil
Sonic: Robotnik, you're evil! You use animals to power your machines!
Also Sonic: Favorite highly processed food is the result of industrial farming.
I imagine sonic would technically just eat vegan hotdogs
The chili however calls for beef so...
Yeah, but I highly doubt that Sonic would love to eat Small animals, nor use them as robots.
@@Icalasarivegan beef exists..??
@@Icalasari Hedgehogs are obligate carnivores like cats, so vegan dogs might not work...
Rip sonia.
its funny how all the chili dog reflects each character who made it even the archie dog
13:54 You do realize that Ian Flynn, was one of the writers on the Archie comic right? So both have equal merit.
Not in that era of archie iirc
This made me want to buy a hotdog at 2 AM.
Subscribed.
I have that official Sonic cook book and it is amazing!! I’m actually going to make the seven rings in hand doughnuts today! I have also tried the chili dogs too and they are delicious! Keep up with the awesome content!!💙🧡❤️
It's funny that all of them fit their reapective characters.
0:34 Sonic’s human teeth are terrifying
Movie sonic or satam sonic
I made these today, I'm so happy to live in a predominantly Hispanic area because we carry all these peppers needed! Check your local Mexican market.
I have never clicked on a sonic video so fast in my life
-Just for that thumbnail-
Its honestly crazy that Sonic drive in and The Hedgehog haven't done a collaboration yet
This guy is the Gordon Ramsey of Sonic The Hedgehog
Regular garlic is not a replacement for black garlic. It has a completely different flavor profile, but it's really easy to make if you have a slow cooker and some patience.
I think it has a pungent sweetness to it.
I don’t see any comments that notice the fact that the top left says catch o’ the day dog twice for the perfect egg dog too
As someone who actually eats homemade chili with coleslaw, I feel like I'd totally enjoy Silver's chili-dog.
What the fuck is that thumbnail art? It's like 3 am and I can't stop fucking laughing
Sonic = chili dogs
Naruto = ramen
Tmnt = pizza
Shadow = A$$
That thumbnail though 💀💀💀
lol 😂
The coffee makes sense in real world applications; espresso is used in barbeque a decent amount. In sonic lore, though, it was probably Shadow's idea
Your form taking a bite of the hotdogs is appreciated. I could see the toppings going everywhere but your expertise rose above.
I’ve made Sonic’s perfect chili dog to celebrate his 33rd anniversary and it was delicious
I actually really like cooking/food content so I was incredibly happily surprised to find this in my subs today. Keep up the good content!!
ARE YOU TELLING ME IAN FLYNN WROTE FOR THE COOKBOOK AS WELL!?
Please. I need that sonic art on the thumbnail. It's so good. Great video!
The Rivals Chili Dog is actually a real regional hot dog style from the Carolinas. Not defending it or anything, but it is based on an actual hot dog style.
I now yearn for the delectable taste of a chili dog 😭
The thumbnail is diabolical 😭😭
It's been a while, but I'm glad to see you still at it!
Also you forgot to rank the chill dog from Sonic lol
"mayo has almost no flavor" famous last words
he's right
Some say these foods could be hot. But I say it’s Chilli :)
Me after following the recipe using substitute ingredients: WHY DOESN'T MY LOOK LIKE THAT?!
The thumbnail is immaculate Chaomix 11/10
Tried the Perfect Chilli Dog! Lives up to it's name!
Chaomix mukbank is truly a banger 🗣️🗣️
I love that the thumbnail is just sonic absolutely STUFFING his mouth with chilli dogs
That thumbnail is perfect keep up the good work.
*drowns rival dog in coleslaw instead of using just a bit like the recipe" yeah the coleslaw kinda waters it down
This makes me so hungry for food when I just ate, thanks alot lol
Tuna salad life hack: The water of the tuna can has flavor in it. From the canning process, it's basically a fish broth. So, for a bit more flavor for the can, add in the water as well. Use instant potato flakes to get the texture back to where it needs to be.
I will NOT be vaping.
At the thumbnail, I love how sonic eats chili dog like that, that Sonic’s face got me dying, it’s so funny!😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
