  • The 2016 Volvo XC90 is absolutely new for the second-generation of the crossover and is leaps and bounds ahead of the outgoing model. The Volvo XC90 sports a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine putting out 316 HP and 295 LB-FT of torque. It's 250 lbs lighter but longer and wider then the outgoing XC90. This new #XC90 is an absolute home run for Volvo. This bodes well for future models. Can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve for the new S90/V90 and the 60-Series.

      If the v90 is as similar to the concept estate, we have nothing to worry about.

    • @satnitcboy
      @satnitcboy 9 лет назад +1

      +Henry Kincaid Hoping that V90 will be a true estate and available in the US, where the wagon is an endangered species. I like the V60, but it's like a generous hatchback. With no A6 Avant and no 5 series wagon here, the caddy wagon gone, no Mazda 6 or Ford Fusion wagons here (both available in Europe and both winners), no passat for a long time, it seems somebody could step in and take the market. The merc e-class wagon has a monopoly on mid/large wagons in the US now. The v60, Allroad, 3 series and VW Golf are all, well, downsize.

    • @satnitcboy
      @satnitcboy 9 лет назад +1

      Also - the V40 - not sold here - is a perfect little hatch and has scored
      THE HIGHEST ever rating in the European NCAP safety testing. It would
      be a nice little car to flesh out the line for a few years, especially
      with the C30 gone.

    Volvo hit this one out of the park. If all of the other new Volvos that are coming are anything like this new XC90, then I think Volvo will enjoy a very well deserved comeback in the U.S.

    This infotainment system puts Volvo so far ahead of every other company besides maybe Tesla. The size, design, and speed of the display is supreme to any system. Good work Volvo

    By far the best family SUV on the market. Cheaper than the german rivals, good build quality, reliability, modern look, very family-oriented design, nice fuel economy. What a car Volvo has came with !
    Oh and it's safe but come on it's a Volvo nothing is safer than that !

    Many criticize Volvo to be in Chinese hands, the philosophy of the company is and will remain the same, the Chinese just put the money to projects fund the company could ever do alone, but of course, eventually they to win their share of that business, it must be admitted that they had good taste when they chose Volvo to invest money .... and perhaps managed exchange information between engineers from both companies, and seen crash test some of the latest models of Geely , and they have obtained excellent results, if compared to previous or competing models of their own country. if I had the money today, tomorrow and always buy a Volvo without hesitation.

    We are at a time where the infotainment system is such a crucial element for many buyers. Hard to expect people to buy a ford with myford touch when they admit themselves that it will be obsolete once sync3 comes to market. But volvo has done a remarkable job with their system, intuitive, quick, and clean. While I still prefers buttons if I had to pick a system this would be it. Volvo is going to sell a shit ton of these

    • @Tomskii5
      @Tomskii5 9 лет назад +10

      weirdshibainu The best thing the chinese did was indeed telling Volvo: keep doing what you are doing, we will fund it. The only thing you'll know on modern volvo's that it is owned by a chinese group are the small 'labels' on the windows that say Fuyao group. Other than that everything lives and breathes volvo.

      Ford is a group of thieves. They stole the V8 from the older XC90 and put it in the shitty Focus RS.
      I will always hate Ford of what they did to Volvo. Ford stole a lot of technical stuff from them.
      After they bought Volvo in autumn -99, Ford became suddenly "safe" cars.
      Volvo were almost bankrupt becuse of Ford's ego behavior.
      Ford is a plastic piece of shitcars!

    @8:40 -- Answer: Daytime running lights is a safety feature since it makes your vehicle stand out and more easy to detect by other (inattentive) drivers and pedestrians. Sweden was the first country in the world to require widespread use of DRLs in 1977 and was widely mocked for it, but several studies have shown that it does improve safety by a lot. (Up to 28% reduction in fatalities and 20% reduction of multi-vehicle injures.)

    Well done. I'm wondering if Volvo will transfer some of the interior motifs and tech into other models before releasing all new designs with the new platform. The V60 is newish here but has been around in Europe a while, so it's not truly new. The s60 likewise could use some new touches but is no doubt in line behind the coming s90 for a redesign. (Thinking subtle grill modification for instance, the new screen etc
    )

    I really dig this design, the only thing that does not sit well with me is the center console. I think they could have put it together way better eliminating that gap below the big knob, it just looks abit cheap in my eyes. The fluent console on s40/v50 and so on looked much better imho.

      If you think about it... 40-70K is cheap as fuck compare to what it cost them to make the car. The reason it's "expensive" is because so many people aren't rich but actually it's not expensive. Like with houses, every house costs millions to build and most of them we get for a small part of the construction cost so again... Think about it. If we all were really well paid people wouldn't complain ;) Just because something is expensive for "you", it doesn't necessarily mean it's expensive per se.

    • @henrykincaid6821
      @henrykincaid6821 9 лет назад +3

      Slightly larger wheels mean that the wheels have turn less to achieve the same distance, this change means that's the transmissions are not doing their jobs properly and will break faster

    • @jamesbeaman6337
      @jamesbeaman6337 9 лет назад +3

      Henry Kincaid When a manufacturer increases the diameter of the wheel, they will generally reduce the sidewall height of the tires to maintain the same overall diameter. Therefore, the transmission works the same regardless of wheel size. But this reduced tire sidewall height results in a harder ride, as Sheelo already pointed out.

    • @henrykincaid6821
      @henrykincaid6821 9 лет назад

      I sort of prefer this, the design is very Ian Callum which is good since jag and Land Rover are sister brands but overall I would rather have this over the discovery because though I think it has aged very well, I'm not in love with the design language that is in the discovery sport, which I'm sure will go into its next gen big brother. If the next facelifted Range Rover has a less blingy, cleaner face (which it probably will due to Mr Callum) then I think I would rather have it over this, but at the moment, I think this is the best looking soft roader on sale and probably has the nicest (maybe not the best but the nicest) interior in an SUV so would make more sense to me.(I am a huge Land Rover fan but this Volvo is fantastic and better looking than its German rivals). However, I still frickin love the current discovery, the thinking man's Range Rover.

    This guy "protector of the republic" is insulting me because of my comment, however, he did not offer any choice of vehicles under 10Ks with the same safety features as a Volvo Lexus or Cadillac or Infiniti
    No need to insults and negativity when one disagrees

      How did you work that out. Which is safer, better looking, has a nicer interior and better priced for what you get: the Volvo XC90

      Ridiculous Comedy Productions I might be a BMW fan, but that's true. Well at least for a family. If you have shit tons of money go for an X5 50i, or even an X5 ///M, which are way better (not in the same price range at all but still).

    • @RidiculousComedy00
      @RidiculousComedy00 9 лет назад +1

      Kaisuke971 Overall though the XC90 is what you look for in a luxury SUV and it's a lot better value for money than a x5

      Frank White not ugly but VERY conservative. Clean designs dont have to be conservative. The chinese customers are gonna love this design !

    • @henrykincaid6821
      @henrykincaid6821 9 лет назад +1

      It stands out because it is conservative and has clean lines, I would say that from the look of jags, teslas, citroens and new volvos; design like this is the future

      The design of this XC90 makes Audi Q7 look like an outdated Volkswagen Touareg.

    saying the dezign matches ze germans or lexus is laughable! merc, bmw,audi,porsche, lexus looks exotic and wins the younger market hands down...volvo appeals to only old farts or women who dont give a shit about design or performance. this volvo is $$$ and no one will be interested given the crowded competition...you are dreaming if u think even 1 out of 100 would chose this over sexy bmw,audi, mercs or even lexus...
