Swedish engineer here (currently Ford owner but looking for a Volvo if they seems to be close to the longevity of the olden white block and pre-Ford P2 platform). 2015-2018ish car tech is more or less version 1.0 every MY since the tempo the systems got more features were very very high..scary in the long term imho. Those systems won't be updated and when they break, it's going to be expensive.. But premium buyers know that ;) BTW, light interior colors don't attract more dirt than dark ones ;) u just are made aware of how quick stuff accumulate. And then have the option to clean it...or roll with it.
I'm looking to get a used one, and your honest review of having it for a year is EXTREMELY helpful. I'm avoiding the 2016, or earlier, since I've heard there's a lot of mechanical and electrical issues with that year. I'm eyeing 2017-2020 for my budget. What year is yours, the one that's in this video? Also, I saw one that was for sale in the Denim Blue and was like "naaaaah," but after looking at yours, I'm down!
I still love my 2017 T6 XC90 R-Design. Mine is fully loaded (Bowers and Wilkins audio, 4 corner air suspension, carbon fiber interior, 4 zone climate with 2nd row heated seats, heated windshield, Polestar software upgrade, even paddle shifters, etc.). I like the fact that Volvo still offers free OTA software upgrades which keeps your driver tech and navigation maps current. Luckily I haven't had the Sensus infotainment glitches you stated. All in all, I've had no issues with mine in 4 years of ownership. I'm curious if you regret getting the T5 instead of the T6.
I just got the 2022 T6 Inscription. It was an inventory model in Korea with the Volvo,US Military Program (I am a contractor so I can use it) so it’s US specs. I think the T5 Momentum would have been good enough. I don’t get on the highway a lot and the aversge speeds in Korea are not that fast so the supercharger is overkill. Even without all the extra chrome from the Inscription, it still looks great. I had a 2006 XC90. Even after 15 years, the car still looked classy. I don’t plan to keep this one for that long though. I hope the next generation production model gets even better. I may switch out after a couple years into the new production model, enough time for them to work out the bugs.
Great summary, we’ve had our 2017 XC90 for 5 years & my wife loves it. We have no regrets because it’s a perfect family SUV. Our second vehicle is Audi Q5, smaller SUV with different driving specs. I think you made a great decision & if you keep up with maintenance schedule, you’ll be good to go. It’s safety first.
5:42 they must be an issue with your vehicle. I have a 2016 and mine pairs and I dream exclusively. I’ve only used car play once and I never hook my phone up.
Light color interiors get a bad wrap. My car is 12 years old and we have a 3 year old. It has a tan interior. It's not filthy.. because we aren't filthy.
I wonder how well that screen works when it's been sitting outside in freezing cold temperatures. My XC90 will be here in a couple weeks and with cold Canadian winters I can see that screen being an issue upon initial startup. To put such heavy reliance into the digital display it better be dialed right in and issue free espeically in such a high end vehicle. When you have BMW to compete with it has to be good. I wish they would have kept the scroll wheel for the 2022 model.
Great vid. I have the 2016, love how it’s aged well with the newer models. Totally agree. So much more value for the quality of car you get

I would worry more with the longevity of the T6... supercharge and turbocharge reads as one more thing to break longterm
I'm just curious if you paired your key with the personal profile , to recognize all your customized settings
We did. It just sometimes wouldn’t identify them. It was the inconsistency got to us
Very nice video! I really appreciate your insights!

Is it quiet car on the highway?

About to get one, does yours have the ambient lighting?
Sorry for the delay, Emilio. Mine did not have the lighting feature. Probably one of those a' la carte items.
Very dope honest review ✅
you can stream without the cord. You have to connect via bluetooth not just phone bluetooth. I do it all the time.

Just got one.

You Can Stream With. Connecting Ur Phone
The momentum comes in a T6 as well that's what I have.
That’s what I wanted! But the wife said she doesn’t need all that power. #crazytalk 😉
Love the exterior color. Thunder gray?
Denim Blue.
You have an inscription grille on it
I’m glad you noticed that upgrade. I didn’t like the base grille. But actually, it’s an aftermarket piece from AMZN.
I said the same thing, and then I noticed it didn't have the inscription badge on the side
considering its there lowest model it has alot of spec
It’s one of the best looking rides out there.
