  • Trailer for Peter Weir's "Fearless", starring Jeff Bridges, Rosie Perez, and Isabella Rossellini.
    Slightly better quality than the trailer I posted previously. Just a pity about the obtrusive watermark; I have been searching for trailed on DVD, but have so far come up empty-handed.

    Incredible movie. Rest in Peace to legendary Hal Douglas who did hundreds of movie trailer narrations including this one. He had the perfect voice for movie trailers. I love watching trailers from movies in the 80's and 90s just to hear his voice narration.

      I agree, it's a brilliant, underrated film. I just rewatched it for the first time in several years, and it's even better than I remembered. Although, I don't think it's overlooked so much as UNDER-looked. It's just too deep and mystical for the average viewer, and consequently goes over their heads. Such a shame, because they're really missing out.

    My second favourite film of all time. The most raw, powerful and beautifully human movie I have ever watched. One scene in particular had me crying, wailing and panting, giving the strongest emotional reaction I have ever had watching a film. It is a disgustingly underrated film that deserves to be ranked with the classics of cinema and should be seen by everyone.

    This movie sucker punched me back in '93 and I still return - if only to grasp its many different meanings - about living, about living with or without fear, about how those fears are a part of living as well. Some images still haunt me: the look on Bridges's face when he catches his co-worker's wife looking distant.... and he remembers parts of the crash. It's devastating.

  • @seevemonka1

    I remember watching this movie in the theater. I was totally blown away by Jeff Bridges performance. The direction of Weir combined with Bridges performance brought out a sense or a "feeling" that is so well expressed through Jeff bridges non verbal communication - His eyes and or his "being". Its hard to explain. This movie is just on a totally different level. It is my favorite movie and IMO, Jeff Bridges finest performance. No question it was overlooked and definitely one of the best movies of the 90's. I agree with another assessment in this comments section, that this movie was just to deep for the average viewer to appreciate or even understand.

    Fun fact, Fearless' original title was "Joyride" according to posted signs where the crash was filmed. The crash was filmed in a corn field near Arvin and Bakersfield, California, just off the 99 freeway. On Bear Mountain bulevard, signs needed to be posted informing citizens that it was a movie location because locals were calling 9-1-1 to report an airplane crash. The site was not closed to the public and you could drive through the wreckage.

    This film and the movie "Falling Down" (also 1993) are very high on my list of personal favorites. I am in awe of the opening ten minutes of Weir's movie. Also the last 10 minutes. Both scenes so highly charged with conflicting emotions and imagery. We may be tempted to assign great (divine?) meaning to life's marvelous mysteries.

      Keep in mind 1993 was a very crowded year for lead performances. The Academy nominated Tom Hanks, Liam Neeson, Anthony Hopkins, Lawrence Fishburne, and Daniel Day-Lewis, all of whom have great performances. In a less competitive year, Bridges gets in without a doubt. I’m happy they singled out Rosie Perez though. She was awesome in Fearless.

    • @CKC411
      @CKC411 5 лет назад

      I know this is old, but for some reason I woke up thinking about this film.... It is the airlines that make parents pay a full fare ticket for their baby seat. In the old days, nobody thought about it (like helmets for kids and seat belts), but it saves lives. If you are a poor family, sometimes you just trust the airline and tell yourself, "they would not let me carry my baby if it was not safe." Even back when everyone thought I was nuts I always had a seat for my babies, even when I have a 20 something year old baby and a new grandchild. The airline thought I was insane when I insisted on a ticket for my daughter when she was about a year old, maybe even closer to 6 months and that was not long before this movie. So I see both sides I guess. Flying sucks. And I am a pilot. If I can't fly myself, I would rather drive, which makes European trips a bitch.

    This movie was the most overhyped piece of crap ever, slow and boring 75% of the time and all those 'meanings' and interpretations in this film is just to play to the simple minded, it is just simple emotional cue's dressed up and complicated just enough as to appear intelligent to the people who operate in the shallow pools of consciousness, the easily emotionally manipulatable among us. Those that are wowed by this film I have a spoiler alert for you -- you're not there yet, you are not wise yet.. perhaps one day, but not today. Discount bin film, for discount bin minds.
