I love Jay Z musically. But this song takes me completely away from the world that the original created. The original was a cinematic masterpiece and It’s already hard enough living up to a sequel. They rebuilt the coliseum from the first film in Malta. It's basically the same setup in the same location with the same director as the first film. The biggest structural change that I see is that the director Ridley Scott is now the coproducer as well.
Some films are best left alone, Braveheart, Forrest Gump and Gladiator for example ! Congratulations on making possibly the best movie ever made into a circus !

I'll wait till I actually see "Gladiator 2* to give my verdict/review in November. It looks promising enough. Denzel Washington's character looks intriguing. Maybe there will be some Roman Rappers from the Tough, Mean Ghetto Streets, putting on a show, before their Glorious Gladiator -Style Deaths; Ha! Ha! Who knows?
Denzel's character just feels like a new Proximo. If that's the case, they should have just cast Djimon Hounsou. The character arc of him being a slave and gladiator to winning his freedom and now becoming a merchant/trader looking to overthrow the entire system could have been the heart of the story. It would also mirror Proximo's own story.
I love rap and hip-hop as much as the next but this trailer deserves epic music (Drums, Horns, Choir, etc.). To be honest, it was a little offputting. I hope they don't include that in the movie.
Hopefully this movie will be good. The original still stands today as one of the best movies and the actors were excellent. I could watch it at any time

@@kjr4946 Because these things aren't meaningless. This song was picked out by the movie's team, it was their first chance to reveal to the public their work and they made that kind of a mistake. Makes you think these sorts of "mistakes" will be rampant in the movie as well, and yes I know the director didn't pick out this song, but its still the team which OKed it.
I love Jay Z musically. But this song takes me completely away from the world that the original created. The original was a cinematic masterpiece and It’s already hard enough living up to a sequel.
Hopefully the movie keeps the score historic and Denzel can make me believe he’s not the equalizer. I was truly lost in the world of the original - like as if I was truly back in those times. This trailer doesn’t make me feel that way.

They rebuilt the coliseum from the first film in Malta. It's basically the same setup in the same location with the same director as the first film. The biggest structural change that I see is that the director Ridley Scott is now the coproducer as well.
Some films are best left alone, Braveheart, Forrest Gump and Gladiator for example ! Congratulations on making possibly the best movie ever made into a circus !

i have to admit....this did very little for me. Why studios think that mixing a rap song into something THIS epic was a great idea is beyond me. Tonally threw off the trailer completely. Epic music is required for an epic movie. The music alone ruined the trailer. This was not a good trailer, but I still have hope that the movie itself will be great

I'll wait till I actually see "Gladiator 2* to give my verdict/review in November. It looks promising enough. Denzel Washington's character looks intriguing. Maybe there will be some Roman Rappers from the Tough, Mean Ghetto Streets, putting on a show, before their Glorious Gladiator -Style Deaths; Ha! Ha! Who knows?
Denzel's character just feels like a new Proximo. If that's the case, they should have just cast Djimon Hounsou. The character arc of him being a slave and gladiator to winning his freedom and now becoming a merchant/trader looking to overthrow the entire system could have been the heart of the story. It would also mirror Proximo's own story.
I love rap and hip-hop as much as the next but this trailer deserves epic music (Drums, Horns, Choir, etc.). To be honest, it was a little offputting. I hope they don't include that in the movie.
If they do, then they'd better do a Kung Fu Panda 4 and adapt it into the score.
