My daughter and I can identify with this song.
She also loves this song, and even though she is married now, she plays it all the time.
Josh Turner does a very respectable version of Forever and Ever Amen, even having Randy contribute the final Amen on the song as well as sometimes in live performances.
I hate that he had those health conditions....hes always been one of my favorites, hes amazing I miss him singin but will forever listen to his music ! Hope he continues to get better 🙏

Someone once told me You can hurt the love right out of a person. Sadly I know that to be a fact. This song always reminds me of one of the biggest mistakes I ever made.
Whooo, preach. I loved someone, too much, almost to the point of worship. It was eventually killed, took a couple decades, but it happened. I don’t even feel hate or anger, just indifference. Seems weird to me sometimes, when I remember how I used to feel, but humans can only handle so much before they break, and then it’s done.
This is my favorite country song of all time. First heard it as a kid and nothing has topped it. Even Carrie Underwood sung it. There's even a duet with both her and Randy Travis.

When Carrie Underwood was a contestant on American Idol, she did a duet performance of this with Randy. Though Randy didn't look or sound in the best of health at the time.
Then she released a solo studio cover of the song, and also released it as a duet with Randy. She did an awesome job singing it.

Carrie didn't perform this with Randy when she was a contestant. She released it in 2009 as a single from Carnival Ride and her and Randy performed it together on Idol in March of that year. Great song, great cover, and great duet.
I watched that also and I listen to her version and I wish she hadn't done it because in my opinion she butchered it
@@dannyflemings864 I don't see how. She sung it exactly the same as Randy Travis, while not missing any notes. So how can one say that she butchered it without also saying that Randy Travis butchered it? The only difference is their vocal sound.

Tear jerks. But that's what I love. One out of every 100 songs today tell a story like the old school singers. These pop country boys should listen to theres real country songs.

It breaks my heart that he can't really sing anymore. He had a stroke which sadly, has affected his vocal chords in addition to other things, obviously. If you want to really be heartbroken, listen to Three Wooden Crosses by him. Want happier? Deeper Than the Holler. All incredible songs by Randy.

Oh, Randy was a professional at getting tears. That sweet boy's face will fool ya, he's ruthless. But, he can do you good too. You should hear him do "Forever and ever, Amen". Just a darling song that touches all the happy places in a heart. But if you want more tears I think the one guaranteed to make you get out your water wings is "Promises". In the video he looks like a puppy someone has swatted.
