Just a quick update: my gap is only one finger now and it has become much more shallow. The connective tissue doesn’t feel so squishy. I used to think I could almost feel my backbone from the front-an exaggeration, but it was seriously deep. Now my fingers only sink in just past the first knuckle. My core feels so much stronger and I feel more confident about keeping it this way. These exercises have been amazing. I had people tell me my diastasis wasn’t a big deal, (except that I felt like they were wrong because something just didn’t feel right) or that I just needed to do some crunches, which I knew wasn’t the answer. For years I couldn’t find anyone that could help. Jessica, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and help. It has seriously changed my life. Thank you! ❤️

@@PregnancyandPostpartumTV I think your videos are really well made. The only nitpicks i would have are 1) some moments when the music doesnt fit the pace, but I know license free music is hard to work with and 2) Sometimes it would help us sports noobs when you remind us about obvious things we easily forget or oversee. For example, when you do a bird dog for 45 seconds - remind us to not let our belly hang loose midway. Because i catch some mistakes sneeking up on me quite often.

4 months and a half pp and I just found out about DR. Was not familiair with this condition.
Unfortunately, the obgyn (a woman!) who saw my recovery post partum (after c section) said it's normal when I asked how come my belly is still very loose although I have always been sporty and fit and had no belly nor fat. Was expecting a speedy recovery. The obgyn said it's normal and that her belly hasn't recovered not even after 2 years pp and that there is nothing to do. Did not mention DR, din not recommend to see a physio, basically encouraged me to do nothing and just wait. Even worse, she gave me the ok to start regular workout (which includes maaany exercises that should be avoided for DR) 🤦‍♀️
Luckily I found out recently about DR from a friend, used your video to check and I feel a 4 fingers gap. I am starting your exercises now, almost 5 months pp. I hope I am still in time to heal 💪

I just found your channel! I have 4 kids and my youngest is 3. Still struggling with incontinence when I jump or run too much and hip and knee and shoulder pain. I only have 1 finger separation or less, but I feel my belly pooches a little. Just feeling desperate to solve these issues and trying to be willing to do these basic exercises and lay off the planks and such.

Actually, if you have any advice for me about whether I should be avoiding certain things at this point, I would find that useful

I'm 11 months postpartum and still have a DR/sagging tummy as I was weeks after birth. I've been doing your exercises a couple of times per week over the past year. Any suggestions?

Really enjoy your workouts and find them helpful but I don’t know what to do…everytime I do a side plank I get coning. It only happens when I’m on my side. Any advice? Should I just avoid this exercise?

Hi, thank you for your super helpful videos. I'm wondering if you are maintining and engaged, tight core with pelvic floor lifted throughout the whole 10 reps of Side Plank and Half Frog (for example). Or are you releasing between each rep, and re-engaging when you exhale with each rep (like you do on the bent leg lowers)? Thanks again for all the useful infomation you put out!! ☺

Do you know whether an umbilical hernia can also be healed wirh exercises like this? My son is 20 month old now and I have an umbilical hernia and a very small diastesis recta. I'm not overweight and have been doing yoga for many years. I don't understand why I got this and hope to avoid a surgery somehow. Would be great to get a response from you. Kind regards

Hello! I'm glad I found your channel! I've never been pregnant, but I'm hoping to get pregnant with my first at the end of this year or beginning of next. Would you recommend doing these exercises before pregnancy as well? Also, should I avoid doing crunches, planks, etc. for these next months before pregnancy? Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Rachel! So exciting to be planning and thinking ahead :) These are just great core exercises for anyone so feel free to do them before pregnancy. I don't think you need to avoid crunches and planks before, but they aren't necessary either. There are so many great other core exercises. My diastasis has healed and I'm not sure I would ever go back to doing crunches now :)

I am 6 weeks postpartum and I have a five and a half finger gap and my abdominal separation is on a severe scale as per my physio. Have just started wearing the belly binder, but am getting mixed views from my friends that belly binders aren’t effective after 6 weeks postpartum and it may do more harm than good if I wear it now. Is that true? When do you recommend wearing a belly band and for how long?
