Thank you! this was almost as confusing as trying to find the dipstick 😂 mine didn't come with a manual, but who needs that when you have RUclips! Thanks again!
Hi Jacob I’m really pleased you found it useful. I agree it doesn’t matter the subject someone has made a helpful video. Makes us all so much more knowledgeable. Remember the days when you had to go to a library to try and find basic information. 👍😊
Thanks Michael, I pleased you enjoyed it. I try to to make all my how to type videos straight to the point, making sure I cover all the necessary steps involved. 👍😊
Useful.....but didn't mention the 12-15mm coiled cable down the side of my 2014 battery which could not be removed & made it a pig to get the clamp back down! Had to tie the cable to pull it out enough to let me get enough room for the bolt! Cheers
Hi Mike, I’m glad you have found the video useful. Not sure which cable you mean, I don’t recall one on this vehicle and didn’t have an issue. Glad you’ve got the job done though. 🙂👍
@@EverydayWorkshop I've no idea what the cable was either - it came from under the scuttle, down the side of the clamp & out at the bottom, but had no connectors to remove! A covered cable looking like the one to the right of the battery in your shot - shame I can't post a pic for you! Very fiddly, but got there in the end! Cheers
Nice one! Appreciate your emphasising on removing the negative connection first and connecting it last - reason being that any accidental connecting with car chassis while removing or attaching the positive terminal will not cause any danger as the battery is out of circuit. I learnt the stupid way 1981 - thankfully no damage to my eyes. Am fitting new battery to XC60 for a friend tomorrow - your video a big help - if it ain’t I’ll let you know. Thanks
Hi Paul, thank you I’m really pleased you have found the video helpful. You are correct it’s a really big issue, whatever tool you are using it won’t matter if you contact the body in any way. For anybody else reading this if you connect the positive terminal last and you contact the bodywork ie earthing the positive it will create a spark. And if the battery is producing some gas (hydrogen H2 and oxygen O2) it’s a very explosive mixture and the reason it is extremely important to connect battery terminals in the correct order. 🙂👍
Should I maintain with a constant power supply the car when I change the battery? Mean - have additional battery connected to +/- during the manipulation when the car does not have close circuit? Does it might affect the car computer (power cutoff)? I have Volvo cc 60 diesel from 2014. Thank in advance
Hi, no you won't lose any settings so no need to keep a power supply. On your vehicle the battery monitoring system will probably need resetting so the system will charge at the correct rate for a new battery. Not urgent you can do it later. Either a dealer or anyone with the correct scanner reset tool. Hope this helps you. 👍🙂
Thank you for this video, but for a 2015.5 T6 "R Design" is the engine bay laid out differently? I would have sworn the manual suggested the battery was on the passenger side under a panel but I could never find it. Another search or query revealed the battery was actually behind a panel near the right rear tire? Or is that a supplemental battery? A garage was flustered by this, so it was not changed and now it has died if you could please help? And would you know the correct battery spec? Subscribed!
Hi Carlton, I’m not sure if the your vehicle is a different design to the one in the video. Are you sure it isn’t under the plastic scuttle panel in the engine bay. I take it the garage couldn’t find it either, which is a bit strange. If your car has stop start it should have another battery. If you would like to email a photo of your engine bay I may be able to help. Just let me know. 🙂👍
Not essential but can depend on the type of car, if you can and it doesn’t affect the car I would disconnect the battery. It’s best to only trickle charge and very important to turn off the charger at it’s feed source before disconnecting the leads from the battery to reduce the risk of a spark setting off an explosion. Batteries produce highly explosive Hydrogen gas when being charged. More so if charged fast ie with a battery charger. Hope this helps.

Thanks! This really helped me today. All fixed up.

Great Job! Thanks so much, this helps a ton!
Thank you, I’m very pleased it was helpful 🙂👍
What about resetting the BMS
Yes I should have added in the video. I have actually added the procedure to the video description. Thanks for pointing it out. 🙂👍

Now add a second video where you replace the Auxiliary/secondary battery.
Great idea, If I get one that needs doing I will. 🙂👍
do i have to disconnect battery when i Charge it?

You should add that the ECU has to be reprogrammed so the alternator doesn't overcharge the battery!
how is that ?
