- Surely not worth the time! Since they say Time is Money... They may B right, yet losing more time than money doing what you want, raises the value of your time, VS the value of some fake currency, that someone else printed on cheap paper.... So time isn't always Money....
Balkan Shipyards
Balkan style is best. Experience is priceless.
Knowledge is power my friend 😜
Keep Shunting bro, happy you're with us!

Nice. The cleats have personality. Custom looks better than factory because the boat is custom too. Keep it DIY if u can.
U hit the nail on the head bro... Its Balkan Style all the way.... Like your stuff man! 😉 Keep Shunting bro, have a great summer, good luck
Love the accent 👍 Can't figure out what it is but sounds somewhere between Russian and Afrikaans 😅 keep up the good work ,i love the smaller updates regularly rather than big long vids like other people make, seeing u build makes my mind race with ideas for building my proa even tho i didn't grow up around boats or water at all lol ,cant wait to see her in action
Thanks man 👍 yeah, Short updates, I will keep it that way... My English is a mess, I know, but I put in a huge effort to keep it that way 😂
Just build it, start small and cheap, you will learn on the gurney, shunters are great for sailing, but pretty bad in all the rest... It took me over a decade to comprehend that they are fun and fast, though offer zero accommodation, and are wide and complicated to dock....
Yet a small car toppable one is great for cruising and camping.

Sometimes just doing is worth the time and effort Rael , because you always learn something . That`s got to be a good thing.
And thats exactly the point Hardy! I truly learned a lot! and I like them 2,
They are just another nail in the structure of the philosophy... This boat is a Zen, these cleats are 21 cm long, the Force is with them! Taking time to think and imagine, then turn that energy into material is the foundation of creation... Learning from all that, is exactly what we came here for.
Keep Shunting my friend,
Launching soon
If you're not going to finish welding around the outside of the base plates to the uprights where you just have it tacked now, then think about how you'll seal it, because salt water will get in that join under the tacks and rust it out, it doesn't have to be waves over the deck even salt spray will do it. but then again you know how to fix it or make new ones even if you end up some in remote place.
Surprised you didn't get some local hardwood and make them from that and then coat in epoxy.
I guess you must be close to launch 🤞Where do you plan for your first destination?
Yeah Dave, so true, around the welds SS rusts like scrap metal! These issues worry me at mast head... It's too far for inspection, and I do wonder how I will ever get up this mast.... I will when I have to! The cleats they will work for now, we see for how long... Wood? Too big, not enough room on the aka, so I chose steel. Going down to the Black Sea today, hope to launch in a week or two, next is rigging, raising the mast, the new sail, connecting lines, cleats.... Lots to do.
We will probably test the boat up and down the Bulgarian coast for a few months. Once I figure it all out, we head for the med, then slowly west....
But that's all over the horizon for now...
Keep Shunting Dave

@@BalkanShipyards Will you sail via the Bosphorus or take the land route to the Med? sailing via the Bosphorus would make some interesting videos, but I'll understand if you need to take the land route, just stay in the south of the black sea 🤞
@@daveamies5031 Going down the Bosporus, can't handle dismantling this boat again, it's a huge job, loading it on the trailer is hard, assembling it is serious work!!! The Turkish straights flow at 6 knots south, so if all goes well I should fly down at 9 with a puttering engine. I came up the Dardanelles which are a touch faster and then the Bosporus, on a 22 foot cruiser with a Honda 5. On my first attempt the Dardanelles stopped me, I had to head back to a sort of a bay and drop the hook, it was a sleepless night... The next morning the head wind eased, so we went for it and made it.... This time we will fly with it so should b ok, but first my motor must prove it's up for the task!!! Those waters move fast! If your engine cuts out, you can get in big trouble in no time!!! time will tell.... Just got to the coast, tomorrow boat building.... All d best!!!!
Много хубаво!!!😂
Thanks our friends!!! Was great to see you 2. Till next time, take care
