its actually alot worse from a dig. the zl1 is a good friend of mine, we’ve raced several times from a dig & a roll. its a good race on a bare road, but not prep.
5th gen Camaro is far inferior to the 6th gen. Also, boost is very kind to the Coyote, meanwhile LS does extremely well with N/A builds. The LS is cheaper to modify and a lot more reliable though.
The Coyote loves boost because of the high flowing cylinder heads, each engine essentially has the opposite problem, LS/LT engines have a lot of displacement, but the factory heads are rather restrictive. Coyotes have great cylinder heads, but not much displacement. LS/LT engines make much more low end torque than Coyotes and that makes a huge difference in everyday driving situations as well as exiting corners on a track. A 6th gen SS 1LE easily runs circles around a GT PP2 and it's not even close.
