9:13 Is the R5 5500 Worth it? - Наука
My daughter has been running a 5500 for several months now and it's a great cpu, totally worth it for the price - was CAD$120 when she got it.
Super underrated tech channel. Hopefully more videos will be released, really enjoy the content! I love the editing and video style. The background music and everything feels so early "MTV" 2000s but instead of reality drama shows, it's nerdy tech stuff. I am in love with it, hahaha.
One big thing is missing in this video though. You should have compared the gaming benchmarks of the 5500 with the 5600/x!
R5 5500 is budget PC build. I paired it RX 6600 no issue. Warzone is 100 plus. I'm happy with it.
Yeah I'm going to be making a build that's the same
@@user-fc6hg7ru6o 👍 let me know when u finished your build.
@@Playtrack22 sadly it is gonna take me a while to get all the parts
do You have a b450 motherboard or b550 motherboard ?
@@anupsonawane1420 b550 micro atx
Wonderful information - thanks.
Pairing this cpu with an acer bifrost a770 i was going to get a 4070 but intel caught my eye, do you think they will pair well? Also got 32gb ram ddr4 3200mhz
Great video! After watching your video from last year, now I got both 5500 and 5600x for my office, they work amazingly well. You mentioned about home server in this video, when you got a chance, if you can do a video about home/small office server computer building, that would be so helpful, thanks in advance.
TLDR version: yes, it is. Good review!
The drop in performance going from 1080p to 1440p is because of the GPU . This CPU can easily handle a more powerful card at higher resolutions as higher resolutions tend to put more load on GPU . I don’t know if it’s just me but I hate how this video kind of sent the message that the cpu causes a bottleneck at 1440p . Doesn’t make sense. If you have a CPU bottleneck the way you can utilise more GPU is by turning up resolution not the other way around.
he also says at (3:20) its not good for 4k gaming regardless of the gpu you use......huh?!
@@landrywinter8383exactly why i dont fully trust these videos
Great stuff man thanks for the helpful information and funny edits! 🙌🙌🤙🤙
Hey, nice video! Fan of this cpu here. Just finished a build for my son together with a 3060ti. It rocks. Only recommendation for homelab uses would be to go for the 5600g, which is the same cpu but has vega graphics. Igpu safes you one pcie slot for add in cards and is better if want to try pcie passthrough of a gpu.
Hi I got a MSI b550m p gen3 motherboard will it work on there , the motherboard says Ryzen 5000 series ready??
Yes, you shouldn’t have any issues using that motherboard.
@@Techomode i had an Ryzen 54500 but for some reason it didn't work you know maybe why ?
@@Techomodedo I need to do anything after I put in the Ryzen 5500 like any updates or anything??
please include boost clocks for the cpus to see if they surpass eachother on boost clock
Im going to build my pc, and going to use the ryzen 5 5500, and was only $87 on amazon brand new
awesome production🔥
Sooo im coming to AMD after a few years on my old 3770, and i have to say it still works for 1080p, i just needed a little more oompf for Paradox games, I mainly play Victoria 3 and Stellaris, rest is gonna be a nice boost thats all :)
hey! when paired with a rtx 4060, can you expect ok results on 1440p? Thanks
Most games AAA you’ll be fine at 1440p, maybe not ultra or even high settings. Medium settings most likely. And esport game will play at 1440p no problem.
@@Techomode nice one, thanks!
what are the temps of the 5500 with a stock cooler while gaming? I hear people say its fine but I can not find anything about the 5500 with stock temps.
I get like 52c while gaming
There is no need for new cooler unless u want to overclock
Recently bought this CPU and it works great honestly for my new budget build! Got it for $90 on sale so can’t complain at all!
What GPU did you pair it with?
Question would it be best to move up from a Ryzen 3 AMD to a Ryzen 5 5500 I want to upgrade from a 1660 6gb Gpu to a 4060 16gb Gpu Would this be Possible Please advise thanks 🙏🏼
Yeah I would do that. Right now the 5600x is only $20 more than the 5500. If you have $20 more dollars in your budget I would do that. Both are great options when pairing them with a 4060.
I have a 6800xt and r5 3600
Change the 5500 win plus fps minimum average?
1440p and 4k play the games
No. 5500 is almost the same as 3600, the difference is negligible. 5600x is little older and better in every way. Even better, you could go into 7 or 9 series instead if you plan on upgrading the card. For 4k gaming you need quite a decent PC.
That’s good for me because I only play 1080. So this is perfect for me. Can you do a test with the 6700xt. Everyone on Reddit are saying it performs better than than the 4060 and the 7600
It definitely does! Have this in my main pc build 👍🏽
@@YonkersDolphin definitely looking into it
My R5500's clock always at 3.78 - 3.79 Ghz, it doesnt want to increase even stressing it using CPUID nor Cinebench...
Thanks for the video,
What do you think of this combination?
AMD Ryzen 5 5500 PROCESSOR
MSI A520M A PRO MOTHERBOARD
GTX 1660 6GB
Any bottleneck or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
That’s a good balanced system. The 5500 can handle more GPU if you wanted.
@@Techomode Thank you for your response; I have decided to go with the RYZEN 5 5600 PROCESSOR and MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX MOTHERBOARD with GTX 1660 6GB.
What GPU do you recommend, though?
Can ryzen 5 5500 pair on rtx 2080 super
Rtx 2080 super or rtx 3060 which one is better?
2080 super performs better so get the 2080
Im curious if its possible to run more powerful cards such as rx 7700 xt or rtx 4070?
It is possible. I might actually do that, just to see what happens. I got my hands on a 4070super so I might pair it with that.
Spoiler Alert: Nope!
I have a Ryzen 5 5500 with the RTX 4060. The CPU bottlenecks the GPU by 20-25%
sure but I wouldn't leave it like that, down the line replace the chip with something better
I just put a spare pc together with this cpu. I put it in my room with a 27 inch 1440p benq monitor I had in my closet and it runs games pretty well! I def still recommend this cpu.
Yes I definitely agree. I use this cpu with a 3070 in my living room, and it can play gta v in 4k on my tv around 80-100fps.
for the price, it's an absolute killer! :)
What board goes good with this cpu?
B450 with pcie3 and overclock bios or the cheaper A520 pcie3 with no overclock bios
I wouldnt consider including the liquid cooling in future budget build reviews. Thank you for testing with the rest.
Can I pair that CPU with AMD Radeon RX550/550 Series? Please and thank you.
Update: Yes! I got about 200+FPS on High setting on most of my games.
sure 🙂
yo can i pair ryzen 5 5500 with rtx 4060 or no
@@Skulledfr I got a good FPS on high setting with AMD Radeon RX 550/500, so you should be able to pair it with rtx 4060.
@@Skulledfr yes, thats a well balanced configuration
My 5500 is overclocked to 4.67 Ghz and at it's peak, will use >91 watts, voltage is 1.52V. Cinebench R23 multi-core score 11776 and single-core score 1518. Using the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120.
Motherboard??
Such a great cooler for the price
Sound like alot on the voltage
similar priced cpus are 3600 at 87 and 4500 at 77, they are a little bit slower but if your playing something like GTA5 its fine
I've got this and a 3060 12gb, it's an excellent little Processor at 1080p
Nice, that’s a well balanced build!
Thank you.
It's not that I am Team Red, as it's that I understand AMD CPUs and motherboards better. Easier for me to understand the trade offs.
This video is really helpful.
This cpu is about $139 Australian Dollars currently.
Been using this cpu in one of my PCs for a while, it gets the job done.
I think the main drawback for going with the 12100f is the platform. Am4 motherboards are flooding the market for really cheap right now
Yeah I totally agree with you.
I think the game benchmarks only shows the gpu performance
What should I get the ryzen 5 500 with rtx 3060 12gb or ryzen 5 500 with rx 7600
always mix Cpu AMD and Gpu Nvidia is better
@@TahaBanna u sure isn't the rx 7600 stronger than rtx 3060 12gb for 1080p gaming only
The 7600 out performs the 3060. I would go with the AMD GPU when going with the 5500.
Thanx bro I will do so bro
I was team blue because I had an Intel laptop, and bought two old workstations on EBay, because they were cheap, and made 3D rendering easier, especially since both came with a decent PSU. However, I wanted to build myself a computer (after building one for my son and daughter each). I checked the prices on EBay (looking at both new and used). AMD still had the best value. I was able to get a brand new A520 motherboard for $50, a used Ryzen 3 3100 for $50, which was significantly cheaper than comparable used Intel boards and CPUs. It all comes down to your budget. Both work extremely well, and you can’t go wrong with either one.
As a Ryzen 5 5500 user and looking into getting a 5600 which is 50% more expensive here where I live.. I cannot justify it... that little cpu of mine is perfect for the games I play especially the Sim racing I love... Witcher 3 with updated Next Gen plays over 120fps on max settings... untill it becomes a slouch I will hold on to it...
When you are doing a budget processor review you should also have a budget setup for benchmarks and gaming tests so it will help ppl decide on options they finally want to go.
How much better would it be against an i7 4770
Well according to Cinebench R23 scores, single core scores are about 44% better which is most important for gaming. Multicore scores are 148% better on the 5500. So it’s a pretty good upgrade.
@@Techomode Wow that'll be much better then. Thanks! And do you have any recommendations for a mother board to go with it
Some games take a big hit running a 8x gen4 gpu on gen3. It’s not simply the halved bandwidth of going down to gen3 from 4 its halving it a second time going from 16x bus to 8x bus on the card.
Doom Eternal has a pretty big performance hit. Sad manufacturers would build budget cards on a 8x bus know many of these buyers would be pairing it with older cheaper existing builds on gen3.
Any gen3 pc should focus their gpu money on a 16x card so you only get 1 bandwidth penalty not 2.
I have a R5 5500 with a GTX 1070 build for my wife. I figured at $80, this is probably the best bang for the buck CPU.
I totally agree with you. This little cpu is kind OP for the money.
Is RX 580 graphics card good for this cpu?
This cpu can handle much more than that GPU. It would be fine but your GPU would be your bottleneck.
@@Techomode my budget isn't that high. Do u have any good recommendations around that graphics card budget?
i sub because of the kitty in the video
I have a R5 5600x in my primary computer, which runs great with a GTX 1070. I only do 1080p 60Hz gaming. Now I have ordered a cheap Asus TUF Gaming A520M-Plus Wifi motherboard, 2x8GB cheap 3200 RAM, R5 5500GT CPU and the cheapest RTX 4060 I could find. Plan is to put the RTX 4060 in my primary R5 5600x computer and then upgrade my secondary computer using the new motherboard and 5500GT. Then move my GTX 1070 over there. It will be a huge upgrade coming from my old i7 2600K setup. BL3 runs like shit on the i7 2600K platform VS the newer Ryzen when using the GTX 1070. There is a huge difference in what quality settings I can use and the smoothness of the game.
Boosted mine to a stock 4.2 ghz
you lose the pci-e 4.0 functionality of your SSD with both the 5500 and 5600(G) :(
Not a big deal for gaming, maybe for workstation stuff, but most people buying these cpu's aren't doing very intense stuff that would require Pci-e 4.0
@@Techomode right so dont buy the 4.0 ssd, by the cheaper 3.0 ssd
I'm using sata SSD, so this thing is not relevant to me
i have r5 5500,i3 12100f would've costed like 30-40 bucks more where i live,so i've chosen the AMD,since its cheaper,and i feel like 6 cores gonna age better that 4 that are a little bit stronger
I was wondering if this cpu would be a good money saver on a $1000 4k build? That way I would be able to allocate more money towards a higher end gpu. Build is for my friend not me.
4k on what games lol u might be able to but at like 30 fps not high settings with that budget
Got mine for 80 bucks so it was definitely worth it
Got one for $60. Feels like a steal for 5000 model
Yeah that’s a steal!
8:40 this got me dead
You should really just get the 7800x3d of you like to game. And the 4090 makes you see the best imagine quality too. If youre going to do it.. do it rite
🙂 sure, go balls deep
We still have plenty of bnew R5 3600 in our country at 65$. I suggest you buy it guys almost same performance.
I agree with you on it but you can get a new 5500 in the USA now for under $88.00 and a used 3600 is averaging $80.00 for us.
A new 3600 is $109.00
In my country 5500 is cheaper than 3600. But it's same price with used one
I can't stand how much I love the dumb jokes.
Lol
I bought my Daughter the 5600 (Runs it with a 3070) last year and was thinking of building a budget PC for myself and getting the Ryzen 5 5500 and a GeForce 4060. Only want it for Fortnite on 1080p.
Yeah that would be a nice setup. Probably even do 1440p if you wanted to. Nothing wrong with 1080p though!

A lot of people recommended to use a 5600 instead, but I found the 5500 to be way cheaper and more available
Ryzen 5 5500 gets crapped on by elitists with more money than sense but it's a great CPU that is very capable of 1440p gaming and beyond.
yeah fr. just don't listen to those mfs. I have that processor paired with gtx 1660 super. Still rocking solid!
Let’s not talk about water cooling in his build.and a 4060 TI is budget too. What even is this clickbait?
Have that paired with a powercolor 6500xt and I'm at average 65 fps at medium settings on helldivers 2 runs smooth and looks good but doesn't run as good as my main rig at 1440p 3d am5 and 7800xt but it's perfect for my lil travel rig. Best budget CPU in my opinion

AMD processor with Intel graphics? On behalf of the PCMR, I would like to inform you, we are triggered.
4k doesnt impact cpu...
Yeah. I like this guy's content but...I about imploded when I heard that. The higher the resolution, the slower a CPU you can get away with, all other things being equal.
Ryzen is better for gaming than intel 🤪 link it with Radeon GPU and it goes more smoothly with a better driver settings
Have money-get 5600
Less money-get 5500
Supa less money-get 3600
No money-get a job 😂
Haw are you 10000
I would be strongly compelled to go Ryzen 5 3600 used and pair it with a used 6700XT. Both can be easily overclocked to match their premium version specs, 3600X/6750XT and provide a truly powerful, consistent, experience at both 1080p/1440p. The value to performance of these parts are probably the best currently available comparatively.
My friend, everything sucks.
Like, you had 1 video last year and now the same video with almost the same games but that starfield unoptimized piece of shit.
The fact that benchmarks in general are made on 3-4 years old games, like tomb raider, rdr, kingdom come, shows that the gaming industry is stagnating.
Guys, stop buying tech just for fomo and in the hope good games will be launched. You will end up playing games you don t want to play just because you feel bad not using your tech.
Based on the trend, you can still game on a ryzen 2600 no problem.
I game on an 12 years old i5. It s an extreme example, but it runs latest games, and even i should upgrade because it s on its last legs, i don t feel the need to. There are barely any 2020 s good games out there....
It s your money, you can spend it for nothing, or you can wait until a decent list of games pops up.
Peace❤
"helldivers" be like 😈
Any 6 core Ryzen can game just fine and they're dirt cheap to build on. You can get a 3600 off Alie for $62 and add a $18 Thermalright Assassin X cooler, $70 B450 mobo, $34 3200 RAM kit.
i use it with rx6700 nonxt it works well
