Soap Cutter Review - Cut Homemade Soap More Easily
Today I’m reviewing a soap cutter from Bud’s Wood Shop. I’ve been making homemade lye soap for a while and I just damage too many bars of soap trying to cut them with a knife. Some of the other soapers on some group boards I follow recommended the soap cutter from Bud’s and I have to say I’m very pleased with it!
This soap cutter uses a wooden arm with a tight wire to cut the soap very cleanly.
(I did receive a free soap cutter from Bud, but I have not received any other compensation and I do not get a commission if you decide to get one.)

That's a very neat tool to have for soap making. I love that he has several ones. A wood one you can cut a single bar from for ($85) up to a metal one you can cut twelve bars from! ($235).

Update to the question:
I did wind up buying a cutter and have found out its not great for melt and pour NOT because of the hardness of melt & pour but because the wire causes too much friction. The wire is not perfectly smooth which translates roughly to melt and pour.
So, I came up with a solution. Its looks similar to a slab cutter but it does not have a guitar tuner thingy and it can change height in about 45 seconds. It uses 30lb fishing line and it can cut melt & pour, slabs, loaves and single bars.
30lb fishing line cuts through melt & pour like butter and it doesn't leave any bumps.
I've been looking at this cutter for a while now and the reviewer convinced me that it will be worth every penny. I just placed my order so thank you!!!

I love love buds woodshop cutter and its on my soap bucket list as getting one and the postage to Australia is $180 and I haven't found one down here even on eBay. So you do have a wonderful cutter

I wish he still had the wood one, but he has gone to making the metal ones which do not interest me. I know the metal would last longer, but.... So, hubby is going to be kind and make me one this weekend.

where do you get replacement strings from ? will guitar strings work?
can i cut a bar of soap 5 inches wide with this cutter?my mold is 5 wide, 4 tell and over a foot long...
mine keeps breaking the wire from the end where we do the tyting , looks like the metal piece to do the tyting is to sharp for the wire so it cuts the wire , I went true 3 wires to cut one bar
could you use a cheese wire if you not get this lovely pieces of kit

If you have and a metal measuring tape and mark each slice of soap, you will be able to cut it with a large knife. 😊

I hope you find time to answer this question. I found this cutter on Etsy and then I found this video to try and figure out why he says this cutter will not cut melt and pour soap? I would like to buy one for my wife but I can't figure out for the life of me why this would not be good for m&p soap and I figured I would ask you your opinion on that.
The melt and pour gets to hard and will break the wire.
If you cut the melt and pour right after it's hard like an hour or so then it will work but it has to be just after it has set.

I just bought one of his single bar cutters but I feel disappointed with the texture it gives the cut soap, it looks lumpy I don't really like it, my soaps looked better when I used to cut them with a blade or knife.

Because melt and pour soap is harder than cold or hot process soap and it will break the string.
