    Mother Ouse is enigmatic, if it is in a bad mood then nobody catches much if anything.
    The second peg you fished was where I caught my first ever barbel, 6 years ago. 8 1/2 pounds. 🙂
    If you want to avoid boat propellor wrap-rounds and snags then fish a bit closer (as a previous poster has said).
    Rushy and Mally are angling royalty around here so the advice they gave you was first class. Though if Mother Ouse is in a strop...

    Typical sort of day down there. The small 6-8mm were doing the business a couple of years back or so. The reason there were no swims below your first one is the stretch only goes down to opposite the tower. Try fishing the near bank if you go again. It's a lot less snaggy and that's where I've caught most of my barbel from down there.

      Fish it down middle of river Shane keeps your rods lower then you don’t have trouble with the boats
