FYI, fellow viewers, Glurp costs $54.95, the upgrade kits (arm rods, eye sheet, and nose sheet) each cost $9.95, and a puppet stand costs $19.95. All in all, very affordable! The upgrade kits don't need to be bought more than once per puppet, too.
That IS a crazily affordable price for a nice kit like this. Should be 2x that much!
That 3D printed figure of Colonel Sanders was on point!
Oh, I hated the Colonel with is wee *beady* eyes, and that smug look on his face. "Oh, you're gonna buy my chicken! Ohhhhh!"
@@craigejacobs that was so funny to realise where you were going
Glad I’m not the only one who saw that.
Kentucky fried mythbuster.
@@craigejacobs I understood that reference
The moment he became real was when he got a different voice and started talking about going to the disco to dance :) makes me happy.
Adam shows just how talented he is. As soon as the puppet is on his hand, the puppet starts developing a personality.
All kids do the same thing, most adults do too.
Or it shows how mad Adam is
He actually has some training for doing exactly that. There's an older video of him going to the Muppet shop.
Yes!!! I was thinking the same!!! Wow!!!
I love how even a professional maker like Adam still sticks his tongue out when he’s focusing on a craft. Here I get people snickering because I do it, I’ll show them these videos when they do it!!
This is such a universal gesture that people have studied it.
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/sticking-tongue-out#:~:text=When%20a%20person%20sticks%20out,stick%20out%20their%20tongue%20involuntarily.
Basically, your tongue is very distracting, so while your brain is busy it puts your tongue in time-out.
@@RDGoodner We had a boss used to do it all the time when he was concentrating on his paperwork whilst sitting in his glass office
Harpo Marx had a goofy expression called the Gookie. It was the concentrating at work expression of a neighborhood cigar maker in their NYC block
So disappointed that Adam took the puppet off before going to answer the door! I was imagining the door opening 6 inches and the puppet poking its head around to greet the delivery guy!
I was about to comment that same thing! Hahaha. He should 100% have take the puppet to open the door!
I have zero sewing skill, but I love puppets. Maybe this can be a summer growth project.
Update: Ordered an Olive Glurp.
@@sethdubois318 This is Kristen, the general manager of Tested. My husband built the same puppet as Adam, in Olive, and he'd never even SEWN before, although he loves working with his hands. Here's how his puppet turned out -- basically, YOU CAN DO IT! instagram.com/p/CO9YsdDBKP7/
@@tested I did it! I'm much more inclined to try something new without qualifications the past year or so. I'm looking forward to it.
That was some quick shipping
Seth, the fur is very forgiving and a whip stitch is a breeze. The only spot to take care on sewing is down the face. Go slow, use even stitches. Maybe search for “Henson stitch”. When you turn the head right side out, you can use a stiff brush to move the nap of the felt to help hide the seam. Good luck and have fun!
Fur Fleece & Felt sounds like the name of a puppet strip club
I'd buy that for a dollar!
That or the name of a puppet metal band
100% !!!
Oh wow now I need an animated short about this strip club and the working puppets of the industry
“Perambulating next on the pole …. Turn ur puppet head and body inside out for ….. Whipstitch Winona….. 💥🦯💥
I absolutely love how the puppet has a really distinct personality the moment Adam puts it on his hand. Like, it wasnt even finished and instantly had so much character... pure joy to watch, it just makes me really happy :D
Just want to say thanks Adam. I understand that it’s probably not the easiest thing to do keeping track of all the stuff that you have to do in the craft at the same time as keeping track of what’s going on with the camera where it is if it’s recording. I imagine it to be quite a headache. But just know it’s not unappreciated.
I never realized how much Adam looks like Col. Sanders until I saw the 3d printed doll.
I love your enthusiasm with everything you do, it's what hook me to mythbusters when I was a kid
This is one of my favorite videos I don’t know why. I’ve never been a big fan of puppets stuff but after reading and learning so much about Jim Henson I’m super motivated and really want to make some of my own.
And don’t worry about it Adam… you know how the old saying goes… Measure once and cut three times…
And then do it right the next time once you get back from the store buying new materials
😂
It happens to the best of us.
If it’s worth doing…. it’s worth doing twice
only Adam can make 45 minutes worth of sewing look interesting
It'd be a nice video for Adam to explain the different stitches he uses when sewing.
The kits that Monkey Boyz Productions sells come with guides that show both written and illustrations for the sewing stitches used in their construction, along with links you can look up online to show just how to sew them.
I recently purchased the "Flick" kit, and am in the process of making my first puppet! MBP is great for anyone who's looking to make their first puppets. I also recommend looking up Adam Kruetenger's channel on You Tube, as he is a master puppet maker and enthusiast, and has TONS of videos for DIY demos for many techniques for puppet making.
If you're looking for real, in-depth instructional videos on puppet building, be sure to look up Adam Kreutinger's videos. 😉
9:56 I've never thought of my blades having joie de vivre. But it works! :D
Thanks to Adam's video here, as well as another Adam -- Adam Kruetinger -- I purchased the "Flick" kit from Monkey Boyz, and am in the process of making my first puppet!
what an absolute delight of a video. I could watch you interact with a puppet all day Adam.
I'd love for, if there are more one-day puppet builds, this to be a build-along stream or real-time video. I find so much of my energy for my craft in sharing the space and passion with others, and I feel like having this in the bg of a craft session (or even just the establishing of the community in a chat section) would be so helpful.
More than you making it, I can't express how much joy it gave me to see you engage with that puppet! Actual joy. I'm actually smiling while typing this.
I never knew I needed/wanted to make a puppet until now lol.
You so do.
That was delightful to watch. Laughing at you talking to the little fella at each stage...who wouldn't?
11:40 i keep pausing to comment! i can't thank you enough for showing this build. i make finger puppets, and i never thought to use an x-acto to cut out the faux fur...i just used the tip of very sharp scissors to cut the backing only. i also figured out to fold the floof inside, clear of the seam allowance, when i sew. can't wait to see how glurp turns out!

Another method for right-side-outing is to start your stitch with a very long thread tail that you can use to pull out through the opening when you're done.
With in moments of watching this video I went and order the "Blip" kit with all the fixings. Super great kit for an unbelievable price. Can Not wait to build this.
Didn't have time to watch the whole video but just the few moments of seeing the completed puppet brought joy to my day.
I love the Iron Giant statue in the background. I introduced him to my grandson a couple years ago so now it is a weekly thing that we watch together.
it's been 30 years since I've made puppets and you remind me how much I enjoyed it. Thank you.
Go make one! I've just gotten into it and love it!
@@darrenbell71 first I need to make one of the puppet masks he did a video about a month or ask ago.
@@j.enzinas Ah, no worries. I hope you have fun and rekindle the puppet-making passion. All the best! :)
I know that there’s a lot to it including peoples jobs and the workload but I hope that as lockdown ends and it’s safer to be around each other we don’t completely lose Adam’s solo camera work. I’ve come to really enjoy the dialogue Adam has with himself/the camera which is different when others are around.
Not to worry. We will be filming some of Adam's One Day Builds -- the advantage to that is that Adam can focus on what he's doing and not worry about framing -- but right now, we are planning for Adam to be filming the majority of his videos himself, as he's been doing!
"There's a furry little hand" such an awesome reaction
You didn’t make a mistake, but made a cool feature . A bada** scar 👌🏻😁
I wrote many user manuals for equipment the company I was working for sold. Ting to keep the word count down, without missing anything is HARD.. Photos and/or diagrams are a must.
Omg it’s cute when Adam starts talking with the puppet 🙈🤩
Brilliant! You really brought him to life with your puppeteering too ❤️
A new maker’s merit badge...... Read directions before you start.......we all have done it! Love the enthusiasm! This build made me smile. Let’s build more puppets for a better world.
A seam-ripper is a beautifully designed tool. It's just a small curved knife, but then some genius stuck a little ball on it to help hold the fabric apart for you. They're wonderful.
I am glad to see that I am not the only one who hand sews like that...
It's amazing how with no eyes and no arms/hands it already has a personality.
So cool! As soon as you turn it inside out that puppet really came to life!
This was actually fun to watch... thanks for the great show.
Omg!
This is so cool!
I knew making puppets took some time and effort, but it could cost so much!
These kits are a great way to save cash!
I just got into puppet building and i have to say... the way he brought the camera into range with such force made this video epic even more
Yeah, I saw what happened. Thank you for showing us this. You're the best man!

i love those puppet videos
Hi Adam
Best thing I could have come across today. Need to make some puppets for a project I’m developing.
How lucky!! :D Hope it goes well!! ^^
I have a collection of antique and modern wooden knitting needles of various sizes that I use to turn things out in the way you used a dowel rod. I have found them to be incredibly useful as well as aesthetically. pleasing to look at. Just thought I would share. . . .
I was going to suggest that as well.
I have several puppets (about 7), they even go with me in the metro and to work as a security agent. My next projects are a hook wall to store and display them all, and atemting to knit a hand puppet.
Back in the 80s there was a flurry of arm puppets that appeared, mostly at fairs.
We bought ours at the California State Fair in 82. It was like a yellow monkey with slack arms and velcro on the hands so it would appear to be holding on to you. Great party starter in the day. Don't remember what happened to the little feller.
Adam made a Fraggle. :) super awesome love these videos
“Where do you go dancing?” “Bulgarian Disco”. Made my day 😂👌
Glurp is especially funny to say with a german pronunciation
I just started cutting fur for projects and this will save me from future fur shed so thank you
“Depressed? I’m the furthest thing from depressed. I mean, look at what I’ve accomplished. Do you see him? Do you think a depressed person could make this? No.”
Being depressed doesn't mean you can't be creative. Just means there are things happening to you that make life a struggle. Creating an object is one of many ways to deal with depression. The euphoria that you experience when you accomplish what you set out to do is a great reliever of depression. So yes, if you are depressed, you can make this. Stop telling yourself that you can't. That leads to more depression.
Good to see little Adam was wearing a Colin Furze safety tie.
seeing Adam puppeteering has made my life so much better
Seriously this puppet is amazing. Exactly how a puppet should look. Curse import duty.
If the 'Last Samurai" met "Falling Down", you'd reach the natural evolution of Adam's STL doppelganger!
How long until he acquires a Jamie puppet and gradually begins losing his sanity arguing with it over all the things he wanted to argue about but couldn't risk losing his job?
Totally up for it
What a joy that was!
This was so much fun to watch!
Hope you'll show any upgrades.
My Mum used to make costumes for plays and circuses. All kinds of hats, gloves, coats and pants. I used to help her do the sewing, and most things were sewn inside out. I was always excited to see how they would look when they were turned right side out. :-)
It looks like the bird off of Charlie Brown with the little bitty black guys. Also it’s been a long time since I enjoyed puppets thanks for the little puppet show.
It does look like Woodstock!
That was the most fun I have had since quarantine started. Thanks Adam!
You two have the same hairdo! LOL
It was an absolute delight to see you make this puppet! I am hopefully going to make one too this summer. Thx for your awsome content!
Thanks for sharing Adam that’s so cool watching you make a puppet 🤩
This is exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks!
Adam so embodies the small child in all of us! excellent. Let's pick a suitable contrasting colour for the tacking pins I know bright yellow!
Hand sewing is like knurling in how meditative it is.
21:00 I have a job as a cleaner and sometimes when I'm using bleach while cleaning, I can't help but enjoy the little kick it gives your brain.
Who else knew before watching the build, that Adam was going to improvise dialogue with the puppet while building it.
That was so much fun! I love puppets!
“Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown”
I really enjoyed that “Chinatown” reference.
A great application.
How cute! Love it!
Thanks fur the memories. 😉👍
You need hemostats to turn those arms right side out, instead of a dowel. Reach the hemostat into the object, all the way to the end, and clamp on. Then zoop, pull it right side out. Easy peasy.
This is so precious oml
I just ordered one, they are so adorable. I've been looking at your puppet builds and thinking and thinking. That kit is surprisingly affordable and comes in lots of colors. Looks great to put together. I know they send things as a form of advertising but, hey, it worked. Super excited for my multicolor purple raspberry monster glurb, and looking forward to figuring out who he/she/it is.
Please tag us when you've finished! We can't wait to see all the new puppets in the world!!!!
🤣🤣🤣 love the action adam figure
Mistakes are part of life. Now he's just unique. He is like no other puppet. While everyone's is perhaps perfect, yours is uniquely different. He has a seam. Could carry a back story. Or could be a scar. Its just being different and unique. See mistakes as a bespoke and custom version of something that will be the same for everyone who buys it. Plus it's a chance to buy another one and do it right should you want to.
Thanks.
Wow he is adorable
You could add a different color strip of fleece to cover the seem on his face and go down his back. Kinda like a mohawk.
If he had wings, he'd be Woodstock!
Your puppetry skills make this an even more enjoyable video.ni've watched it at least 5x already 😂
Someone tell Adam that he needs one of the X-Acto knives that has the swivel for the blade so he can cut in any direction and really nail those curves. I was noticing a lot of straight lines on the semi-circular portions of the build and figured Adam would like the tip.
This is awesome!!! I love these puppet builds! I was just given a puppet and it looks great but I would love to replace his eyes. I found this video during my research. As usual, this was very fun and informative!!!✨👏🏽✨👏🏽✨🛠️
so with this video about puppets and Adam savages love for them and the space suite in the back round alot makes me think Adam Savage should make a space themed puppet eventually as a idea to marry those two intrest together for abuild idea thums this up so Adam Savage can see
Probably could have used a seem ripper and resewn that fleece if really bothered you. Can't now cause it's glued, but yea. I still think it looks good. I might not have thought twice about it if you hadn't said anything. XD
Glurp is a handsome monster boi!
Dude, this is so cool! It's totally awesome sauce! 😁😄😎
Hello from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thanks for sharing your great video’s please keep them coming.
Ha! Perfectly timed doorbell.
I love the puppets Savage's hair :D
Great kit!
In case anyone cares - with the safety eyes secured, if you want a socketed look to the eyes, you can go up one side of the eye, wrap your thread around the stalk a few times, go down the opposite side and gently, emphasis gently, pull until you have the look you want. As a maker of many a crocheted soft toy, I can't tell you what a difference it makes to them.
Yess!! 😁 I love it
Everybody loves puppets!!
