- Since the Nova Pro Wireless launched, there has been discussion on ear comfort thanks to the ANC microphones inside. Now that Wicked Cushions has released multiple pad upgrade options for the Nova Pro Wireless, it's time to see how they stack up in every measurable way against the stock pads! UPDATE - The 5300 Hz setting in Sonar for the Freeze pad should be set as "High Shelving" - and not peaking EQ. I am seeing if I can fix the video in RUclips editor now, but please take note of this.

Hey and thanks for all the videos. Would you use the same settings for the wired version? And is there really a noticeable difference between the wicked cushion pads with and without the gel? Can currently only get the ones with gel for the wired headset, standard are "in development" so to say.
I cant make 10 Points for adjustment in the equalizer, only 9. What did i make wrong?
Also note: Voice is set to 1.6 dB.

If you could for a v2 version, contour the cushions like what’s on the beoplay portals. The bottom portion of the cushion loses isolation.

@@WickedCushions I’ve been using them for hours a day since I received them. They are phenomenal. The contour is the only thing I can think of that would make these better.
@@MrEddyedrwhich ones did you buy that you’re using? I have the WC FreeZe and the improved leather ones but not sure which to use. I mostly play CoD so I know I should use the leather ones but I much prefer the fabric and cooling gell pads, and theyre also red camo so they look sick

Was considering these for a while and bought a pair of the regular pads after seeing this. With those EQ settings they sound better than my stock pads did! The added size and padding are so much comfier as well. Thanks.

Just bought the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and they fixed the anc bump finally. When I removed my earpads I noticed that the ANC bump was very little and different from everybody else that reviewed them so I contacted SteelSeries to know if mine was broken. They contacted the product team and confirmed that these were a new design.
Dude your reviews are on another level. Nobody ever talks about what happens to the cushion when you put it on like you did with the glass. Details like that are what make you the best reviewer in the game

I'm terrible at setting EQ settings. I've never fully understood them so I really appreciate the detail that you put into making this video. I never would have thought that the freeze pads would make such a big difference. My headphones sound great now!
Just what I needed, I used your older sonar settings for my stock nova pro wireless. And like everyone else couldn't stand that piece inside the headsets that makes the uncomfortable contact with my ears. I went ahead and already placed my orders from Wicked Cushions for the black freeze gel series and was hoping you had any updated sonar settings for those. Luckily, I stumble across your video here. I mainly play fps games and listen to music as well. I just don't like the regular default flat sonar settings, so all your work is very much appreciated, thank you for those countless hours of work for people like me who don't understand how to adjust any of those sonar sound settings. I've been very much pleased. Thank you.

The timing of this video couldn't have been better. I just ordered and tried out the Freeze pads and was immediately thrown off by the negative impact it had on my sound. I ordered a set of wicked cushions when I ordered my nova pro's about a month a go, after I watched a few reviews noting the anc nub. I'm super glad I did because my ear rests on the nub, though it's not causing me any discomfort yet, but hearing your experience with the aging of the pads I'm glad I did now.

@@succubuslily damn I did not see this for some reason, the EQ settings help bring it back to more of a balanced sound, it's much less punchy.

I greatly appreciate taking the time to build and share the EQs without shoving them behind a Patreon/Floatplane paywall. Because of this, I’m not sure if I wanted these yet, but I just ordered a pair and tried my hardest to make sure you got the affiliate commission (assuming it carried through when using the “open in the app” via mobile web).
bought the freeze pads and had it tuned to what u said. its amazing. additionally I turned on spatial audio, set immersion to 100 and distance to 25. my headphones now sounds better, and feel better. 100% recommend this

I've noticed a few people in the comments in other related videos, have asked for a more detailed explanation on "Spatial Audio", what it is, why/not use it etc. I know I would definitely appreciate a more in depth look at this💯🤔(Recently I have been using your "FreeZe Pad Sonar Tune", with Spatial Audio turned on. As it gives you access to the Headphone/speaker mode toggle, positioning, performance/immersion and distance settings)
I recently upgraded from my Steelseries arctis pro wireless to the new Nova pro wireless X (with wicked cushion freeze pads). I use them everyday for call centre based work from home, gaming, music, movies etc and have no complaints👌
Man I looove how detailed and unique your videos are. I am a user of the Nova pro, and I was using a custom solution for the pad, but now I am definitely getting the freeze edition since I use them generally. Huge thanks to you and for the efforts you put into getting us the best tuns for each pad

I love the nova pro wireless but i am a simracing gamer and it sucks how they become hot so quickly. It can become really unconfortable when playing a long and intense session. Do you find the freeze cushions helped with the getting hot issue? I'm having the same issue with my stock pads.

The DAC tunes are actually super useful for those of us on PC who don't use Sonar due to incompatibilities with Elgato's Wave Link and Stream Deck software.
Also, I have the Nova 7's with the Freeze cushions and I used your DAC tune for those, since I figured the tunes should be close enough, and I have to tell you, for a song like "Vinushka" by Dir En Grey, that combination sounds absolutely fantastic. Thanks for this.

Once again a truly fantastic review. My ears are not laboratory-calibrated like yours and I simply replaced the stock pads with teh freezegel and did nothing else and it did substatially improve the comfort for sure but that ANC nub still bothered me.

for my ears the WC Pads felt a little bit too narrow (even tho they increase the distance to the driver) and just slightly (really slightly) mudded sounding and i took your sonar tune and just left the 150Hz base region to 0db and reduced the upper mids and highs for about 0.5 to 1 db cause the highs were sometimes a really tiny bit distorted for me in a couple of songs.
at the moment i am pretty pleased with these wireless cans coming from a 5 years of service mmx 300 :)
Thanks for the EQ settings for the WC Freeze I picked them up to avoid the rubbing issue with the ANC mic/speaker they are amazingly comfy but then I lost the bass and some of the high instrumental frequencies the headset hit with the stock pads. Used your sonar EQ settings and wow sounds really good now. I had sonar disabled and just used the smiley EQ preset and this sounds way better. Sonar is actually dope once you set up different presets for different needs/media. After a long gaming session its nice to simply switch inputs (gaming to media and get a totally different mood of sound.

The left ANC mic hurts my ear so bad I'm considering returning these, I love the sound and stereo image but damn... the awfully placed mic works into my ears until I feel a weird numbness on my left side.

Subscribed! I absolutely love this content and I can't wait to see you grow and boom. Having said that, I would love to see what you do witth the Sennheiser HD800s and how you EQ that for PC gaming, which amp and dac you choose etc. Hands down that is my most superior headset I own for gaming.
Great info. I ordered freeze pads prior to seeing this. Now im debating getting the standard instead.
I’m in the same situation. Bought the cans and WC Freezes on same day, but have found no issue with stock ear pads. They actually cup my ears perfectly- thinking the upgraded standard ones may be the way to go when I need replacements in future.
Great video. I also haven't been using the nova pro's in for a few months due the stock earpad getting to squishy and constant feeling the ANC bump. I purchased both WC ear pads. I could still feel that ANC bump sometimes even with the standard wicked cushions. The only one I can never feel the bump with is the cooling gel version. I had still been using your stock tune slightly changed with the WC since like thanksgiving when I got them and they still sounded great. Gonna try the new tune out and see if its better to my ears.

I bought a pair and they were amazing. So soft so comfortable and even though I returned the nova 7, they made it 100 times better to wear. If you have the nova 7 or pro then you need these, they really are that good.

I swapped mine out with the freeze version and love them. Sound quality has improved as well.

I just got my Nova Pro Wireless and after wearing them for a full work day I purchased the WC Freeze Pads, they're so comfortable, even if you're wearing glasses, just like you said!
The impact on audio quality is now more than acceptable (and by that I mean GREAT!) thanks to your excellent review and Sonar Tuning instructions.

@@shocker4545 if you’re asking me, I got the cooling ones. Kinda glad I did knowing now that they’re even thicker pads and less likely that the ANC pieces would press against my ear.
Just got my wicked upgraded pads today, using your previous EQ and just wow🎉 Personally, i think the wicked pads truly extend the bass and makes the sound more ”ouhmphy” so to say. And also great review, as always man :D

Thank you, I had ordered freeze version but after listening to the video I cancelled em to get the standard instead, willing to give up a bit of « comfort » to keep almost the same audio as default. Still gonna try to find the best EQ settings, but pretty excited to keep the best audio possible with comfort, bye bye audio cancellation feeling
You hit every key point I was thinking of. Very detailed and specific down to the numbers and I like that. Will be using your tune on my new Wicked Cushions 90s black with the PU Leather 👍 also, curious, the stock cushions state "protein skin" and are quite soft to the touch ..but PU leather typically isn't as soft. I shall see 🤔

You are my goat for these headphones, i wish you explained a little more how your tuning affects rpgs and such which is what i play so i could understand how these settings affect those games. Either way, these videos are very good content.

Ty so much for putting this together for us nova pro users. I was REALLY hoping you would make this exact video. I know you said numerous times throughout this video that they were both very comfortable with glasses, but my stock pads have actually been giving me tremendous pain with glasses after long stretches of use. The anc bump is surprisingly not much of an issue. Was wondering if you thought the freeze gel would potentially have some type of benefit over the non gel wicked cushions in terms of glasses use, because to me, i would definitely prefer the non freeze gel versions to help retain the original sound signature. If youre not sure, then no worries as i will try one out anyways. Thanks again, i always appreciate and enjoy your content man; the detail and effort you put in is always the best out of anyone so keep at it
It might have some comfort benefit compared to the pleather pads as the part of the freeze pads that touch your ears are fabric while the walls are pleather.

- what pre gain settings would you recommend for these eqs to avoid clipping
-are these eqs tailored specifically towards gaming or for more general use, ie music, movies and gaming

Thank you so much for this video. I don’t own the Pro but the Nova 7x (largely thanks to your coverage of this headset) and when I put Freeze Pads on those I hated the sound. I used the settings on this video for the Pro and applied it to the 7x - added some additional bass - and the 7x are now awesome all around.
