You are so right. I have seen the show a few times and the one takeaway is that the younger the performer who play “Evan” appears, the more sympathetic the character seems. That is one of the reasons the movie fell flat. (That and they changed the story and characters).
As a theater geek I have to say one thing: when I was younger, I didn’t think I’d love Dear Evan Hansen is much as I do, but when I saw the performance, I cried. Not just because of the actors, the songs, or even the props, but because of the message. People in the world need shows like this! I can’t wait to see what lays ahead in the theatrical world!

well this isnt the original cast, so if you aren’t keeping up with the cast changes, then ofc u’ve never seen them. all of these people were the cast at the time of shooting the show, no understudied or stanbys
