    Lots of people who don’t actually work with wood like to watch people who do because it’s cathartic. Diorama modeling has the same effect for me. I happen to be in the larval stages of woodworking, but even when I don’t have much to work on, I still come back and watch. A lot. It’s both intellectually stimulating and inspirational. My point is, there is no limit to the number of subscribers you can amass in this world, even if most of them never pick up a circular saw in their lives. Keep making beautiful furniture and creating quality videos and you’ll grow. Don’t worry.

      This was the first video of yours that I saw too. My Dad was a carpenter & I guess all of my 4 brothers & I dabbled a little bit. As the only daughter in the family, my Dad was thrilled that I was his most loyal student & he loved teasing my brothers about it. I have recommended your channel to a bunch of friends & we'll all be sharing wood crafting love with others. Let me ask you this - do you use Linseed oil on most of your projects? What are your thoughts on stains & would you prefer polyurethane to varnish? I have a deep love for dark hardwoods; walnut, mahogany, cherry, etc. but I really love a good, shiny & sturdy finish to wood. What do you recommend?

    Some of the best woodworking videos on youtube. I love listening to the process. Lots of woodworking tubes are really boring and slow and focus on things in the shop. I love the focus on design and the finished product. I am sure people will ping you on this or that, this method or another, say you are doing things wrong or "where is your guard" and other safety nit picks. There are a few I could mention, but as a career woodworker, a graduate of one of the best woodworking school in the country, all I have to say is: Just keep doing what you are doing.

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  8 лет назад

      Thanks Titus. Yes, that was something I was very aware of going into this whole RUclips venture. I always try to beat them to the punch by saying that I am not a great woodworker, I am not a teacher, and there are better places for learning than on my channel. People will still point things out, and sometimes it's actually good advice that I can use...so, not too bad so far. I appreciate the compliment and the support!

    Found this video while looking for ideas for a sideboard inspired by the 60s/70s designers, not too different from your Sevotto. Unfortunately mine has to be short so it won't have the long low classic elegance but I'm hoping to break the relative height by fitting embellishments of thin pale wood slats along the front and sitting the cabinet on a beech or oak base to match carved legs on a chassis. I don't have the equipment you've got so most stuff I make is cut by hand and since my wife paints everything in the house I use MDF for cabinets and will have to find a wood supplier here in Scotland for the beech chassis.
    We are absolutely addicted to the channel of Leo Goolden, an English guy who is restoring a classic wooden yacht up in Port Townsend. Look for Tally Ho or Sampson Boat Co, the craftsmanship of those people is an absolute joy to watch and I guarantee you'll end up watching every episode as evening viewing this winter.
    Your work is super elegant and minimal, well done. You ought to go to Copenhagen, you'd enjoy the design there very much.

    Chris, as others have said, keep up the fantastic work. These videos, aside from tastefully showing off your gifted woodworking, are so brilliant in their pace and simplicity, with subtle dashes of clever humor, and somehow as soothing as my momma rocking me to sleep. I'm really amazed actually.
    With that said, I feel like woodworking is very niche, so to grow the channel beyond just this community, I'd recommend incorporating more elements outside the build process... The goofy humor you did in your first video, perhaps more lifestyle elements showing your kids interacting with your pieces, or interrupting your work, or maybe a trip to the hardware store and the interesting/comical things that happen to you... Or whatever else.
    You come across as humble, funny, curious and passionate, and very authentic, so as long as you stay grounded as your channel grows, you're gonna do very well.

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  8 лет назад +1

      Thanks Brandon. I agree...I know I still have a ways to go to fully saturate myself in this community, and it is growing larger and larger at the moment, but I am always looking ahead, and wanting to find a way to get in front of people that aren't necessarily into woodworking. I always thing that lots of people into things like Graphic Design could easily cross over. Always on my mind for sure.

    Can't remember how I came across the first video of yours I saw. Kinda liked it. It was one where you talked through some design ideas around a "viewers" question/design.
    Then I heard about the podcast. Found it, subscribed and enjoy it. Found everyone's channel. Tonight I've just binged on your videos. They're very 'zen-ish' to me. Different and appreciated.
    Keep up the good work. Loving it.

    I'm going through a bunch of your old videos. I like the comment about " Unquenchable hatred"... It cracks me up because why would you watch something that you didn't enjoy? BUT if you read comments sometimes you get the feeling that it's true. People actually do that! I'm glad you have kept making videos!

    I am here in 2019, after seeing your coffee table in the Woodpeckers magazine. I love your style: clean and uncluttered and functional. I shared your website with my son who has recently become interested in woodworking. Him and I both have a lot to learn before we can make something even remotely as beautiful as your furniture, but where would we be if we didn't aim high!
