// ABOUT THIS VIDEO
This is a slightly goofier woodworking video. I had the idea to make a one legged cabinet. Not because I thought it would be super useful. I just thought it might be kind of fun. I think it came out really cool. It's definitely very striking. When you walk into a room, there is no way you're not going to notice it. Even though it's a goofy video, there are lots of useful techniques covered. So sit back and enjoy!

As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement ruclips.net/user/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
Your videos balance a relaxing soothing tone while maintaining interest throughout. I really like the way your take the viewer through your thought process while showing your successes as well as failures. I have yet to finish one of your videos and leave feeling like i wasted my time.
Thanks Ernest...really appreciate the kind words. That means a lot :)
Museum piece I think. Inquisitively conversational.
Appreciate your work and humor. Thanks.
Dude, I love it.
I love it because it's funny, and that's enough. It has a personality of its own, which is cool in a piece of furniture.
Thanks man :)
Honestly - love the look of it.......soooo different....so nice........awesome
Thanks!
Reminds me of something a magician would use, except it's walnut. It definitely grabs your attention. Not ugly by any means. I also think the dados in the drawer front are very creative. It seems like playing with the alignment of the handle and the first edge is needed. Great R&D.
Thanks! Yeah, this was a kind of rough version of the idea I guess.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE VERY VERY GOOD
That would perfectly fit in an art gallery. Beautiful!
Gorgeous as always
i like the honest narration :)
ridiculously awesome craftsmanship
Thanks Yeshi :)
Fantastic. That the type of item I would expect in someone's private library, next to a big leather armchair- cigar in the ashtray and cognac on the coaster (both also made by you of course). 👌🏻
haha...I'll get right on those :)
You could enlarge the project and make a one legged desk. Love the detail in the draw front. Beautiful talking piece of furniture,
Indeed...leg might get in the way depending on the depth...something to think about.
I just love watching your channel! Your videos are so peaceful, the soundtrack, the tone of your voice, the beautiful pieces you make... Really, it calms me down! You are a true artist! Thanks for sharing your projects and thoughts with all of us! :)
Cheers from Brazil :)))
Thanks Fernanda...I appreciate it! Greetings from the US
so COOL! you are destined to be an innovator in thd world of furniture design. not only that, but you have inspired me to start my own wood working "career"! my first project was a sandbox, and out of that has come the opportunity to sell more sand boxes! God bless you Chris!
Thanks Dru...very cool. Just keep at it and keep improving!
Simple and beautiful
It seems like the perfect little table to put right by the front door do drop your keys, sunglasses, mail, ect.
Very cool build. Also, "functionable" is now my favorite word!
Thanks...and that is goodest!
Mr. S. I saw your reply to my comment during midday break yesterday. I guess that means I had Salomone on wry wit extra cheese for lunch! Touche sir!
Hi Chris,
I came across your name on a woodworking forum and wanted to check you out. I've done so (apparently) and I'm glad I did. I love your work! I love your style of designing, the way you work, the way your videos are put together and your sense of humour. You inspire me to make furniture for myself, family and friends. I really love the coffeetable with the glass top that you made. This year I will be moving to a new home where I will be building a life for myself again. I would really like to build myself the forementioned coffeetable, if you don't mind that is.
Keep up the good work and happy woodworking!
Hey Ramon. That's cool, glad you found me! I don't mind if you build it at all. I'd love to see it!
Chris, you could make a modern wide headboard for a bed, and make a second 1 legged table as attached night stands. The design was popular in Danish Modern. Maybe a scaled up version of the grooves across the headboard would compliment the grooves on the one legged table. This would allow you to enjoy the table(s) now instead of waiting until the kids are grown to use them as end tables.
Thanks Gordon...gives me something to think about. Though, we won't ben needing a new headboard anytime soon...But that could change :-)
Another masterpiece
it's stunning.
the way you envision everything and pull it all together is always a joy to watch (even if you use glue sparingly)...... just kidding
:)
This isn't goofy. This, is art! I wish I could buy your stuff.
Very creative. Looks like a very imaginative and fun build. Sometimes it's just fun to step back from the ordinary and be creative.
Yeah, it was a fun build, and a nice change of pace.
its always a good day when it starts off with watching one of your vids
haha...I always remember your username when I see it come up. Thanks!
have a good day man
I liked, it's a really good design.
Not goofy at all! love the design!
Thanks!
The equally weird end tables idea would be reaaaally cool
Great Concept!
great work mate I think its very unique
Its absolutely gorgeous♥
Not only is this beautiful but you capped it off with griswald quote. You hit it out of the park with this one.
haha...I'm not sure if vacation is a good or bad movie...but to me it's funny just b/c I watched it so much as a kid.
If it makes an impact, its all good.
Good looking cabinet, great story as usual.
Thanks Jeff :)
I rarely comment ... but ... you made a beautiful piece ... I love your work, my most sincere respect
Thank you Mario...Really appreciate it :)
You and MTMWood are my favourite youtubers
Thanks JacP!
Wonderful project. Congratulations 👍
Really nice cabinet man !
This looks very nice! Thank you chris for sharing!
Thanks Sebastiaan. Glad you enjoyed :)
Somehow you have managed to make ridiculous look elegant. Its like a pirate in a tux.
haha...nice!
HA ha, good analogy
That Chris is gorgeous!
That and he is just having fun.
It's probably the glasses.
Thanks! This is weird, I'm listening to you talk (Making It) right now! :-)
I'm all over place!
Chris is gorgeous and the cabinet looks great too.
Very nicely done!
awesome build ! would be cool nightstands
Not gonna lie. I think that looks pretty righteous man! Great build!
Thanks BB!
I like it. Experimentation is good.
Indeed...and thanks!
Great Video, thanks for sharing!
The quote at then end... awesome.
I really like the grooves in the drawer face. I think it adds a bit of a MCM quality to this piece. I appreciate too that you learned something from this one. I learn something from everything I make so far. Thanks!
Thanks Eric. Appreciate it!
The cabinet looks like something out of The Jetsons - very futuristic
But wasn't the Jetsons from the 60s? Just kidding...thanks Tina!
Retro is the new Future
Stunning piece of furniture Chris and amazing workmanship!
I've been looking for something unusual to make for my entryway. This just may be it. Thx for taking the time to make the cabinet and video.
great looking drawer.. table..
Now you need to build a one legged chair to go with it!
I've seen milking stools with just one leg. Good idea.
I'm on it!
look up the turkana and maasai community in kenya they have such
would be a cool night stand idea actually! if you're thinking about expanding it into a larger design theme.
Very cool looking piece, you should design a matching chair, I think it would look cool as a little writing desk. Great job!!👍👍
Had a few people mention this...maybe something to think on.
Hi again, haven't had a chance to relax with RUclips in a while. Chris once again you're not giving yourself enough credit that is a beautiful piece of art, simple as that. I really like the detail in the drawer. Let me see, whimsical experimentation, check. Inspired detailing, check. The 'I don't give a f**k about nothin, instead gettin paid, gettin b****hes and makin crazy tables' attitude, check. Yes it's art!
Thanks John...really appreciate the kind words :-)
Glad you enjoyed!
This would make great bedroom night stands or entrance table. Add small lighting to the bottom and they plants could be set around it.
4:18 it’s real cool that you’ve got two ghost clones to help you round the shop
You should make a 7 legged cabinet next. Like the 3 legs this cabinet had went to the other lol
This is so awesome!!
chris:you may say, inefficient, useless etc.but for me is a perfect piece of furniture art and out of conventional carpentry and very good for front door entrance well done buddy!!!!
Thanks :)
OK That does it! I’m subscribing. Great design. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to have you aboard Don
As a pair, in a smaller size, it would make a great bedside cabinets.
Awesome design!
Great as a night stand, I want one!!
Thanks Pamela :)
Your content is amazing, thank you very much.
Thanks Gonzalo. Appreciate it :)
Good video man, great music to counteract the tools
Thanks Jared. Appreciate it!
It's beautiful!
I could see a pair of these as pretty nice night stands.
I might have something like that planned for the not too near future :)
good design!
I think it would make a good desk for a kids room
Just discovered your channel and really enjoying it. I have to say that I love this piece; a very modern look.
Thanks Shane. Glad you're enjoying :)
what u just made is a form of art
and sometimes art doesnt need a purpose
I love it.
good stuff as always
This would be great for a typewriter and paper, may consider to build one myself someday. Very nice!
It was nice to see how everything was done accurately and beautifully!
My Favourite RUclipsr by far!
Appreciate that Prabjot :)
sick might make it
I am so glad I discovered your channel! There are way too many woodworkers on You Tube only building jig after jig. You are not only an incredible craftsman but an artist!! Thank you for sharing your art!
Thanks Storlach...appreciate it! Glad you found me too
Your designs really belong in a gallery, Love your work.
Thanks Lady :)

Really like the indents in the drawer

This thing is freakin beautiful
Thanks Joris :)
Really beautiful
I subscribed because you do great work and your a cubs fan! GO CUBBIES!!!
Thanks Vin...It's funny, I actually live in LA. And the name Vin is pretty iconic when it comes to baseball in this town :-)
Love the video and the reference to the one and only CWG! :)
pretty chill
it's an eye-catcher, and looks great. As for uses, there was a time (in the long long ago, the before-time...), this would have made a nice "telephone table" back in the era of corded telephones. would still work as a place to set your base unit, or a bedside table for an alarm clock.
Do wonder at the durability of the simple glue joint for the leg; seems like some sort of joinery would be called for there. Admittedly, the echoes of my Grandfather saying "Build it STRONG!!!" would also be wondering at the concept of a one-legged table to start with.... But the end result looks great.
It's ALWAYS about the Journey. Life is one Grand Journey, and the Journey IS the Reason. Make sure to Travel Well. =)
Thanks Tim. Maybe Telephones will make a comeback :)
About the joinery. I actually think of the leg to cabinet connection as a big mortise and tenon. The mounding surround things are glued to both the bottom of the cabinet and the leg. So with the cabinet they are forming a tenon that is 2x2 and 3/4 deep. The leg is inserted like a tenon. I could be wrong...but in my head it felt like that.
I know I've gone back to older ones, but how I missed some of the ones in the past year, I'll never know. I have my notifications on. So glad I'm watching this one too.!!! Dirty Jersey out.
The esthetics of your videos are very calming.
I just love watching you work; it satisfies my inner perfectionist.
ANSWER....CAUSE IT LOOKS SO COOL!
Very Cool! Could use an extremely angular chair or something???
Cool build, very unique! I liked the "leg to stand on" pun with the patreons on this build.
-Caleb Harris
Thanks Caleb :)
i'd love to have two as bedside tables!
Thanks Erica...my long-term plan is to have 2 as end tables for a sofa. But with kids...it's a really long term goal :)
