    wowsers. I havent even harvested anything yet. Oh other than chives. My lettuce is stil only a 1in high...hehheheh the joys of living way up north. YOu strawberries look awesome, i can't wait for mine.

    Make BLT(Bacon, Lettece, Tomato) soup with the lettece, lots of recipes online. Cook a pot to see if you like it. Try freeze or dehydrate lettece to make soup in the Winter.

    Wow everything looks amazing! I grew the same lettuce but its so small! So is my swiss chard, broccoli, and kohlrabi....I wonder what I am doing wrong.

    Wow! I love when the hard work starts paying off! Of course, it brings another type of hard work which is also rewarding! Introduced my granddaughter to fresh green beans in the garden yesterday and she got the first blackberry too! Thanks Ms. Rachael for taking us along!

    I've never used the broccoli, etc., leaves. I imagine I'm not the only one. How many people would they feed if everyone saved the greens? I imagine a small country's worth.

    I didn't know to pick the lower leaves of the brussel sprouts - guess I have a task to do today 😍

      As the baby brussel sprouts start forming you continue to take the leaves off. I'm just happy to finally wise up and use them. Roasted brussel sprout leaves are supposedly wonderful

    We don't have a hose or outside spicket or even a sink so we have to carry buckets and watering cans about 1/2-3/4 of an acre away from the house daily. I like the exercise sometimes lol

      We have to connect 3 different hoses together, to reach our garden. And remember where it is everytime we mow the grass so it doesn't get destroyed 😋

    I dehydrated some of my lettuce and turned it into a powder. It has more nutrition than store bought. This way I can just add some nutritional goodness to my foods and it didn’t go to waste. I planted way too much lettuce this year as well.

    I did not realise that you are also affected by those slimey snails . We in UK are ate war with them at every turn , how do you deal with them

      @@1870s I just got a Eureka moment and found a really cheap solution . I just poured some urine over the snail and that irritated it so much that it it started to foamy convulse . Later today I will check it out and see if its still there . I will now use a spray it around the common area , collect some slugs and see if I have found if the organic way is the environmental solution , I will let you know the outcome

      @@1870s Try chopping the lettuce small in a blender and freezing it in ziplock bags . In the winter months you can thicken soups and stews with it if you add it in the last ten minutes or so. You can also make lettuce soup in winter I'm sure there are recipes if you research it.

    I was glad you spoke about watering. I was wondering how often per week to water. I’m in Tulsa and we are usually in the upper 90’s, low 100’s through summer with heat indexes well in excess of that. Love your informative videos. Thank you.

    I wonder if on the days it is really hot if you could lay tea towels (linen or cheesecloth maybe) on the bottom and top of extra greens if your harvest station would work as a dehydrator?

      Maybe. We've tried some herbs on racks before, and this is basically a giant rack - so I'm sure it'd work out well.

    What kind of strawberry plants do you grow? They are large like store bought ones. Mine are teeny, about the size of my ring finger nail. Taste good, but so tiny. Lol

    If you remember I told you you I'd be praying for you to have a bountiful harvest season Rachel. Wow, you go girl, you are rocking my prayers. That is a lot of salad, but it takes a lot of it to make a really good meal. You can clean it then put it in the crisper, do a layer then add a damp cloth over each layer they will keep a bit longer hun, that's what I did at a restaurant I was lead Chef at in Fernandina Beach, Fla..

      yes you can roast them or wilt them like any collard or spinach green

    I am having a similar problem with my lettuce. There is only so much salad my husband and I can eat lol. There really is not way to preserve it is there?
