Beautiful country side and those little villages are magical.
When we left S.A. we went to the Netherlands and lived there 22 years and after not having rid a bike for years it was a very interesting time to learn to do shopping and riding a bike everyday and lifting your kids to school by bike. I loved it. Now live in the UK and though I ride my bike (though not as much )as they do not have cycle tracks like they do in the Netherlands miss it. Those saddle bags are a God send when you need to shop. Sorry you guys are having such a difficult time and I do hope that the new year will be a happy, blessed, healthy and prosperous new year for 2024. Look forward to your journey in the new year. Yeah, our December has been tricky. Oven electronics went wack, dishwasher died, new dishwasher has leak, our garage door spring cracked in half with car inside. Spring is special size so one-day service could not fix until first week inJanuary and between three of us, we could not force the garage door open, car is trapped 😂.
Anyway, just thankful we can take care of all of this and we are safe, happy, and healthy to welcome 2024.

... in the middle of nowhere you have nice neighbours and other people that greet you when you are passing by. I love that in the rural Portuguese interior (it also still happens here in the isles). All hardships seem to be of less importance despite the troubles they may cause to our daily lives. Bom ano!

I absolutely adored this episode, and following you around those pretty streets and villages (that bike wash was so random!!!) , you are right, we all need to focus on the positive more and change our respective of things. This year has been a shit year for us, and xmas and new year were sad, losing our doggie so traumatically and then both of my boyfriend's parents dying... we didn't feel like celebrating at all and I cried a lot missing stuff, but watching your video today made me focus and think positively. So thank you so much, you two are truly an inspiration for us. And Gina is the most adorable thing when she is slightly sulking 😊. I just remembered I forgot to renew my subscription I think it was December!! I'll do it soon. Have a great year guys, and thanks for brightening our days and keeping it real.

Our third winter in Portugal, and this one feels like a it of a grind, man. Also sun lovers from South Africa, and this one has felt long, cold and damp....can't wait for it to end.......boas festas, guys, bom ano and muito bom 2024.....
The "bike wash" looks like it will be one of the new battery swap stations for electric cars (rather than plugging the car in and waiting for ages while it recharges, you drive into the bay and battery is removed and replaced in a few minutes).
You have many more blessings than you realize. Just focus on those positive things in order to attract more. Those mishaps are just obstacles and can actually be blessings in disguise. As long as you are healthy and have each other, that's what really matters and that'll can get you through the toughest situations. And I hope I heard you say wrong about having to buy milk at the store when you have all those wonderful sheep around.

It never rains, but it pours!! Got to say the electrics here can be a nightmare, decided I wanted an electric oven ........ boy did that open a gigantic can of worms. Had to get main fuse upped to 30 amps, then electrician had to run a cable up through the attic, to then put in a new fuse box ....... 2 weeks later and still not finished! Even with separate line to oven, electrician has warned me to be very careful what I run in the kitchen as all the sockets are on one fuse. These things just make us appreciate the good times even more 😄 Happy New Year to you and all your furbabies 😃🍾🥂🥂🥂🥂

Hopefully your luck will change, We came from a small hamlet near Aveiro, everyone had to go to get drinking water at local springs/ fountains, we didn’t have a car and would go on foot or regular bikes. You might ask Joaquim if there is such a source of drinking water closer to your home. Best wishes for a New Year!
