Great video. As someone who lives in Scotland - Amazed to see a country where the sun shines. Here it’s overcast and lashing with rain day after day month after month
Was just in Japan in Jan/Feb and can highly recommend the Kitamura and Map Camera stores for a look. I picked up my Leica M3 from Map and they were incredibly helpful and courteous.
Nice! I loved both stores. They are so nice and helpful, also so careful and meticulous with handling all the cameras and lenses. I’m definitely going back next time I’m in Japan! 😍
Collecting vintage cameras are fun similar to owning antique cars. I’m having Canon and Nikon photographic gears in my collection now, but hoping for Leica and Rolleiflex cameras in the future when I’ve more budgets. Japan is a super city. I went there when I was little. I think it’s more fun shopping there than in the US. 😂
I am from Brazil and will be visiting Japan in April. I am interested in purchasing a Fuji X100V during my trip. Could you please advise me where I can find this camera model?
That sounds like a relatively new camera! You can find a lot of new cameras at stores such as Yodobashi Camera or BIC Camera. These are chain stores and you will find them throughout Japan. Have tons of fun!!! 🤩
Thank you for watching! Canon and Nikon are great systems! I also love love love Rolleiflexes. Japan is just such a fun country to shop, walk around, everything! Super safe too 😊
Hahaha I also love ramen!! They have so much variety there 😄 I enjoy portraiture the most! Photography to me is not just about taking photos, but also getting to know my subjects. It's the connection with people that I love and crave 🥰 How about you?!
Definitely! You just gotta be patient enough to look for them. We found a really rare lens that’s usually around $12k - $15k for $5k 😆 We had to negotiate tho
I can’t say that I’ve seen that personally, but I’m sure many of the stores carry Fujifilm cameras since it’s a Japanese brand. I personally got my TX-1 from Japan 🤩
It was tons of fun! Almost didn’t want to come home 🥹 Hehehe let’s just say I had to buy another suitcase for all the goodies I bought 🤣 that said, I didn’t splurge on a camera or lens 🥹
@@NoctiGirl haha! I thought for sure there would be another one or two extra items in the bag! Happy you had a great time! I hope you got lots of photos? Take care and have a great weekend!
Hahaha yes definitely!! And learned tons about the Japanese used camera market. Quite interesting! They are so careful and meticulous with their cameras 😊
Did you manage to buy any name brand film, if any, sold only for domestic market? Used to be quite a lot of film available iirc at Yodobashi chain store back in 2016 when last visited. From your vid, looks very reassuring used camera market is still very vibrant there!
Yes! The used camera market is definitely still booming! Though I can’t say the same about film. I used to buy a lot of film whenever I travel to Japan. They were cheaper than the U.S., also had a wider selection and variety. Not the same anymore. They had a severe film shortage and most stores were limiting purchases to 1 roll per customer 🥲 before going there, my friend in Japan even told me to bring my own film if I planned on shooting any… 🥹
Sad state of affairs on camera films there. What is the reason(s) for the film shortage in Japan nowadays, is it to do with new government environmental regulations banning certain chemicals forcing major film manufacturers to stop producing it in Japan?
I recommend Naniwa Group and one of their store is Lemon. They're all about used and vintage cameras. Also those are plum blossom, not cherry. Cherry blossom will be at the end of the month
Ya… I wouldn’t say to go to Japan to find good deals on cameras. You go there just to check out some cool and rare stuff. Their prices are generally higher than the U.S.

i'm preparing my bank account for some hefty camera purchases since i'm planning on going back to Japan next year lol. theyre a bit pricier but the conditions of them cameras are immaculate. targeting the Ricoh GR II/IVx or maybe the Leica Q.
Oh man… prepare to do some damage to your bank account 😆 But I agree with you, they are so courteous and careful with their cameras. Also if you ask them where the cameras came from, most of the time they’ll be able to provide some kind of paper trail. Seems like they get items from the Wetzlar Auction often 🙂
