Fun fact, the Leica T has two SD card slots! If you have a small screwdriver you can take the two screws out of the plastic plate and replace the internal 16gb internal storage to a bigger storage, it's a microSD and it's not soldered or anything.

@@FoxTailWhipz yup although what annoys me is that there is no way to shoot dng files only, it only has an option for jpeg+dng. And no option for redundant storing. Also, EV is always overexposed so I prefer setting it up to -2/3 to -1 whenever Im shooting aperture or shutter priority.

Two can be strung together by the wrist strap loops to create nunchucks. Very EXPENSIVE nunchucks, but sturdy!

Bought a pre-owned Leica T for 399 Euro a couple of years ago. With the 23 Summicron, it was this combo that lured me away from Sony. Today the CL is my main camera. I‘m always thinking about „upgrading“ to a full frame Leica but can never find a really good reason why. That system was completely misunderstood, and underrated. Like it.

Believe it or not I got a brand new in the box TL from B&H a few months ago for around 1k. This seeks like a great deal for 500 used. I may have to look into one as a brother to my TL :-)
As a huge Leica owner, this is a great starter camera into the Leica world. Two things to keep in mind, one there is no EVF so you will have to rely on the back screen and two be careful in sunny days, any screen in a bright day is hard to use. But over all, this is a great camera and you can fine relatively low TL lenses for cheap.
I just purchase a Panasonic as a starter Leica and then realise how much money I’ve saved

I enjoy my Leica TL2. Great quality
I won a Leica T from a contest, and it’s my only digital pro-camera. I lovvvve the results. The zoom feature for focusing is amazing. (I need to manual focus, coming from film cameras). Only gripe I have is that the viewfinder STILL costs $300ish used. So I’ve never used the viewfinder haha.
You and at least one other did a YT video on this "cheap" Leica. Two months later, there are none available and it definitely won't be anywhere near this price anymore.
In the uk this is £1000 second hand if you're lucky!
Sigma makes some great APSC L mount lenses. You might want to look for the 56mm f1.4 and 18-50 f2.8. Also their i series lenses have an aperture ring and are pretty small, even if they're made for FF
I’ve been looking at the 18-50mm, but I’m also planning on picking up a Sigma FP eventually, so full frame might be the way to go if I pick up anymore L mount lenses.

Because it is a old body that was ~$1500 when new and is nothing special. Better money spent on a Fujifilm or Canon R series mirrorless.

I am keeping my T2. The design is so cool despite its age. You won’t find one like this in the future. Unfortunately Leica has not been updating its firmware.
Am looking for a lightweight camer that can take macro closeups of the amazing creatures, insects, flowers I find in not well lit places. Might this Leica depending on lense be ok with low lit area and tiny subjects ( 1/4
The camera itself is aesthetically pleasing but, that aside, you're paying for the Leica name. It has a fixed screen and slow autofocus and only 16MP. It's good enough for Instagram - so is your phone. I sold mine a couple of years ago. I admit I was sad to let it go, but I was selling a few cameras that, for one reason or another, I just wasn't using anymore.
Yep better buy a Sony 5R, 5T or Nikon D7000

@@Desert-edDave Unfortunatly, I‘m not on anyones payroll. Your comment feels very sarcastic to me. So, why do you think Leica is a big fake machine? Some think, all brands use the same sensors from Sony, but thats not true. The sensor of my Leica M 240 comes from an independent company in Belgium. But most of all, use a Leica Summilux 50 f2 on a mirrorless camera like Sony A7 (my preferred camera brand bevor switching to Leica). Maybe you see the difference, or you don‘t. If not, don‘t judge the one who does. Next, there is definitely a big difference in the camera user interface. In the last 40 years, I‘ve used a Lubitel II, Nikon FE10/F60/F80, Mamiya 645 Super, some Nikon S cameras, Lumix lx100, Sony a6000, A7M2, A7RM3 and now a Leica Q and M240. I loved all cameras. I bought them because they fit in my prefered photo style. At last, I‘m extremley happy with a simple, manual camera. The A7s feature overkill has stopped my creativity. Over all, the Mamiya and the Leica are the best tools with the best lens and picture quality for my kind of photography. They aren‘t the best tools for sport photography. That doesn‘t mean they are are useles, overpriced luxury toys. So, what are you talking about?
Your phone is not better
I had one from new but quickly discovered that the latest Fuji's of the day - such as the X100S, X-T1 & X-Pro - absolutely blew it away. Though, to be fair, this was perhaps more a case of Fuji's lenses just being much better. Build quality was excellent but beyond this and the red badge prestige I found the results underwhelming. Wish I still had it though because it was a beautiful thing.
Fujinon lenses of the time were optically corrected. I recall, not sure if correctly, in its time both Zeiss for Sony and Fujifilm aps-c and Leica for this mount were digitally corrected. I imagine now that in that time technology was enough to have a natural look as many cameras today, but I had a strong prejudice against digitally corrected photos, as it resulted in stretched low resolution corners.

Ngl this seems like a really slick camera and cool concept, but with a camera - i just don't know if I'd be ready to give up my buttons and dials. I started off on Canon DSLRs and have an s5ii now and the ability to quickly change any setting by muscle memory is pretty big to me.

$500? There are over $1k on eBay. Clickbait. Just because you happened to luck out and get a deal doesn't make it a $500 camera.
I got my Silver T for less than 450 € and my black T (with the 18-55mm) for 850€. Two years back. However, since Sigma started selling their APC-lenses with L-mount, prices only went up. You still can buy a decent Leica T for around 650€.

Yes there are adapters for EF/EF-S lenses!
The Leica M11 Series has integrated storage, and the Hasselblad X series has integrated storage. :D
Samsung and Ricoh did similar design minus the touch screen. I remember something weird about it . Some issue that need a workaround.
And... impossibe to find at that price or even close to it here in Australia. Seems like I won't be able to try leica any time soon :(

It is my first Leica from 56 years ago and I loved it. Moved to M and Q now but still have T in my collection. Still hope Leica should build the full frame with this touch screen system and this clever UI.
10 years ago you could get a Sony A7 (the first one they made). It was 24MP, had a digital viewfinder, and could be adapted to a leica mount if you want. It was also the smallest a7 ever made and can be bought for $200-300 today. Objectively better in every way to this Leica if you don't care about a red sticker on the front. The Leica was not ahead of it's time and lacks a lot of the convenient features of Sony and canon.

Add a Voigtländer or Zeiss lens, the performance of this fine camera will increase dramatic. Add a Leica lens, and you won't believe your eyes. Belive me, I did it.

I'll be honest the photos from a new phone are just as good, if not better. I want to like cameras like this because they're beautiful, but unnecessary.
While this overpriced Leica is truly nothing special, no phone can hold a candle to a good SLR or mirrorless with good glass attached, it's just not remotely possible when comparing sensors and lenses. It's like comparing the performance of a bicycle with that of a car.
It's all a matter of context. I've seen better photos with an iPhone than SLRs with good glass. @@Desert-edDave

True I can’t believe they left peaking out of this camera, but I’ve found that using one of the dials for focus zoom is really intuitive and I haven’t missed it as much as I thought I would.
It's a real shame that they gave the TL2 peaking, but didn't add it to the T or TL with a firmware update.
Also, the fact that you can't turn off instant review of the photo you just shot is maddening.
Why are there so many used ones available? Did the original owners not like them?
The Ricoh GR has internal memory, not needing an SD card. This may be a Ricoh first, rather than Leica.
Tip: removing all of the natural pauses from your sentences makes this incredibly difficult to sit through. It's like trying to read a 7 page paragraph.

I got a Canon eos-M and took it to Maui a couple years ago with a couple manual focus lenses. TTArtisan lenses are pretty good with cameras that have Focus Peaking. I guess the Leica T doesn't have that so it would be done by magnifying your focus point.

Finding one of these for even $600 would be like finding an AUDI R8 for $60,000. It's exactly what I want and exactly what I don't want at the same time.........maybe. Just looking for a really good relatively affordable used DSLR with simple old school analog type knob on top controls for manual settings. Is that maybe Olympus OM-D territory.....just starting search? I think I would love the quality for ($500...good luck with that) price of the Leica, but really really not get on with the "phone feel" of the touchscreen as great as it may be.

You may also want to try some vintage minolta lenses from the 70s and 80s. Minolta and Leica worked together in those days. Leica actually used some of Minolta's designs. For around $50, you can find a Minolta 50 mm f1.4 or f1.7 lens that make beautiful pictures. Here are a couple cool videos about Minolta.
