As exciting as the m6 is especially after having mines for a few years. I’m excited to see who this guy finally is. It’s like the stig taking his helmet off for those who follow his page.
John Sypal is such an inspirational person! I've been following his blog since 2009 or 2010 through tumblr, and the documentary work he's done is simply amazing; 7000 people is a lot! I'm so glad you picked him for this promotion and the event in Wetzlar!
Hi, John. This is Patrick from Taiwancamerastyle. Glad to see your RUclips. I haven't been to Japan for several years. Hopefully I'll be able to go to Tokyo soon and see you in the studio.
@@WatchesAndPhotography This is the time i get to tell you that right before covid i was in germany on vacation. I wasn't into Leica then. I wasted time are all the car museums. I just have to go back.
I bought my M6 in 1992 and still using it. Travel with me all these years from Hong Kong to Canada, Tokyo , Kyoto, Bangkok, Singapore, Malaysia and Mauritius.
The launch of the M6 surprised me. It takes courage to produce a new film camera in 2022. Not going to talk about the price 🤣Leica has accustomed us to this kind of "madness" :)The videos are all very beautiful but this one from Mr.Sypal gently moved me. So humane in his describing something that we all have tried at least once. And then the dark room images. It made me want to retrieve the old enlarger in the attic :) Love when he says that "print is an object of pure and intense beauty."
I've followed TCS for years and love it. I also love my M3, which I've had since high school. (Paid $250 for it.) I busted it out recently after a long hiatus and sallied forth with it. Still great.
I have a Leica M6 and I think it is the most beautiful camera Leica has ever made and more importantly it can run completely without power. Unfortunately, the new digital Leica photo cameras cannot live without power, so there are advantages and disadvantages to them.
I am living in Japan. There are many camera shops that carry vintage used cameras, lenses, and film. I learned to shoot on 35mm film on a Ricoh KR-5 Super. It’s an expensive hobby! Instead of working with film again, which is expensive, time consuming, and impractical, I am considering buying a sony A7C2 compact full-frame camera and adapting it to use manual focus Zeiss/Nikkor/Leica lenses for street photography. What is the difference between the M6 and the M3?
Support silver halide film photography and film prices will get better. Digital is clever pixellated technology, but film and darkroom is very artisanal and mindful.
I’ve been following Tokyo camera style for a long time and really like his stuff, but I don’t like this video. TCS is a lot more than Leica. This is just a self-embellishing video that Leica made to promote its product
May I suggest you to hire better cinematographers for those portraits... RUclipsrs like Serr, Vulhandes, Willem Verbeeck and so on are so above in terms of production value. For a premium brand, this feels a little short. Cool portrait nontheless.
Best advertisment I have ever seen

hahahaha my exact thoughts
Who is he?
@@NorbiWhitney that’s interesting.
I was thinking the same. He was also really interesting to listen to, so it would be great to hear more from him!
FINALLY! I get to know about this guy! What an amazing guy and great story.
Great to see John is still going strong. He took my camera’s ‘portrait’ back in 2009 in Harajuku.

Such an incredible story, John. Tokyo is very happy that you are here to capture special moments. Keep on keepin' on!
Love Tokyo Camera Style! Great video

Film is not dead. It’s expensive.😢
No way ! You spent in digital camera and new lens more expensive!
Isn't it so?..... Love it
It is expensive, but if you ever get a chance to see how it is actually manufactured, I highly recommend seeing it.
@@kk582sos9 the cost of a couple of hundred rolls of film plus processing equals the cost of a digital Leica M.

such an amazing story! thank you so much for sharing

Love shooting in Japan.... hate shooting in the rain but shooting my MP in Japan IN the rain is magical.
Thank you.. what an inspiration!!
Awesome content! Thanks for sharing your passion.
Wonderful words John!
Represent! Cool to hear some background on how you got into photography. This was a super nice video Leica.

I don’t care about this camera but John is one of my favourite photographers
And I don't care about your stoopid opinion.
Japanese 💋s to you with venon. Of course.
Allah bless you.

Loved how this has Kodoji in it ❤️
Actually, there are some of us out there that never stopped shooting film ! Great video. Thanks, Rick….. 📷
Film is not dead, just expensive. I like film too.
Leica, I'm not sure why you are only producing what basicly amounts to a limited run of new M6 cameras but please keep this production line going!

Ahh the days of developing and printing . Laborators, focomats, miss em
John! 👋
I’m wondering what cameras were used to record this video 🤔
Leica SL2-s with M lenses
The cost needs to be justified, so the photos must be great!
Leica has ITS story. History.
is Leica re-releasing the M6? I watched all these series and all the cameras look brand new
yeah man
Yes they are. Whether it will make the prices of ‘original’ m6’s go up or down is still to be seen…
@@HesselFolkertsma Exactly what I'm waiting to see... Hopefully I can pick up an OG M6 for less.
@@HesselFolkertsma I’m hoping people dump their M6’s to upgrade to the New M6.
What is the nice to see some of his actual photos rather than just talking about him taking photos.
...and why no photos in a video about photography?

What is difference between Leica and Sony
👍👏👏👏✋
When the film price can be reduced to the level 5 years ago,i’ll buy LEICA M6😢
I just bought M11 and now watching M6 and film photography. I love that process, but I don't have enough time, I am an Illustrator in the first place.
Flica app on iPhone gets the same results for pictures and the ProCam app for video.

500 rolls a year, wow
You'd need a mortgage on film to do that now. That's almost Winogrand levels of shooting!

Very nice, but NOT EVEN ONE photography from John Sypal. Come on Leica, you can do better.

If you can't take great street photographs in cities like Tokyo and London you need to give up photography. It's too easy...
