The Northern Pikes was a decent post-punk Canadian band that was one of the first non-metal bands doing right-hand melodic tapping with a lot of delay which then as a technique took off in the early 2000s. I do generally think Aussie bands were a lot better than Canadian bands though. Some of the most creative riffs from the 80s came from the Aussie band, The Church.
