I've been anti noodle for a good couple of years, Id only recently found Salvo probablya few months ago, but this 2nd roast battle is the first time I've heard of Redbar. You have a new listener 😃
Mannnnn if I were Def Noodles, this would have been an amazing opportunity to turn his whole image around. All of the content was already made for him, all he had to do was engage with the situation, maybe play the heel (or whatever wrestlers call it), and then when he gets roasted, take the L and be a good sport about it. Maybe show some gratitude or self awareness for good measure. But no, he just proved what everybody thought about him in the first place. There are people that would kill to have such an entertaining night basically built from scratch for them, but he just wasted it. In a situation like this you just have to think about what Andy Kaufman would do.

Thanks for uploading this: I was frustrated at the time that searches for Redbar yielded very little. _This_ was what I wanted. Overall this is very good; finally I have a substantive (if subjective) critique of the car crash that is Def Noodles' show. My only criticism is the disingenuous justification of the "I can't breathe" chant as referencing the heat and lack of AC. Bruh, everyone in the world and their dog knows what that alludes to!

I’ve thought the same for a while and I know what you mean…Not to sound corny, but I think it’s the dedication to the craft and how much of a perfectionist both are in terms of presenting a high quality show. Also, like Stern, Mike knows how to run all the equipment (even though it may be different from radio equipment). They both have strong “radio” voices as well. Beyond that, it reminds me of classic Stern of the 90’s where you would listen and expect all kinds of craziness (prank calls, mocking celebrities (now comedians, podcasters, influencers, etc.) and Jules is like a Robin in terms of having a female to bounce off of. Plus Mike and Stern can talk at length in ways that are entertaining…they both have a lot of interest ling things to say and it’s rarely boring.
I think we can all relate to running into other Redbar fans in Popeye's, right? That's happened to me like 6 or 7 times this year. That's the main reason I go there.

Had to come back, Def is all the egotism of Steven Crowder but without key factors that make Crowder "work" like him or not, which are his rampant control issues and image management capabilities. Def falls apart so easily, he could have made his whole event like an IRL Player Hater's Ball and totally embraced the hate or at least blown it off. Like the crowd was obviously excited when they were booing, why not just go with it, but he comes in with no plan and the worlds worth of expectations and he just hopes that things go well. Then when it falls apart he gets frustrated and angry, lashing out at people with violence instead of considering what he could do that might actually be funny. It's utterly fascinating and so off-putting at the same time.

All of the content was already made for him, all he had to do was engage with the situation, maybe play the heel (or whatever wrestlers call it), and then when he gets roasted, take the L and be a good sport about it. Maybe show some gratitude or self awareness for good measure.
But no, he just proved what everybody thought about him in the first place. There are people that would kill to have such an entertaining night basically built from scratch for them, but he just wasted it. In a situation like this you just have to think about what Andy Kaufman would do.

Overall this is very good; finally I have a substantive (if subjective) critique of the car crash that is Def Noodles' show. My only criticism is the disingenuous justification of the "I can't breathe" chant as referencing the heat and lack of AC. Bruh, everyone in the world and their dog knows what that alludes to!

Man, Redbar kinda reminds me of Stern/Artie. Very different format of course, but it just feels the same.
I’ve thought the same for a while and I know what you mean…Not to sound corny, but I think it’s the dedication to the craft and how much of a perfectionist both are in terms of presenting a high quality show. Also, like Stern, Mike knows how to run all the equipment (even though it may be different from radio equipment). They both have strong “radio” voices as well. Beyond that, it reminds me of classic Stern of the 90’s where you would listen and expect all kinds of craziness (prank calls, mocking celebrities (now comedians, podcasters, influencers, etc.) and Jules is like a Robin in terms of having a female to bounce off of. Plus Mike and Stern can talk at length in ways that are entertaining…they both have a lot of interest ling things to say and it’s rarely boring.
I think we can all relate to running into other Redbar fans in Popeye's, right? That's happened to me like 6 or 7 times this year. That's the main reason I go there.

Had to come back, Def is all the egotism of Steven Crowder but without key factors that make Crowder "work" like him or not, which are his rampant control issues and image management capabilities. Def falls apart so easily, he could have made his whole event like an IRL Player Hater's Ball and totally embraced the hate or at least blown it off. Like the crowd was obviously excited when they were booing, why not just go with it, but he comes in with no plan and the worlds worth of expectations and he just hopes that things go well. Then when it falls apart he gets frustrated and angry, lashing out at people with violence instead of considering what he could do that might actually be funny. It's utterly fascinating and so off-putting at the same time.
