Spencer and Alex have really killed it on the games channel this past year. It’s hard to quantify, but I feel like nearly every video is a blast while feeling effortless. Really impressive
Not having imposter syndrom because you see yourself as the product of group effort is such an interesting, but understandable perspective. Only works because people at Smosh care and seem to be mostly actually friends with each other as well.
This goes to show how intense imposter syndrome can be. Spencer was worried he wouldn't be funny. SPENCER. One of the undisputed most funny people on Smosh. I mean... the NBA/WNBA joke for Chosen TNTL: Trivial Pursuit is beyond a shadow of a doubt one of the funniest jokes I've heard in my life. Shane said on the Pod it's the joke he's the most jealous of not coming up with himself. It's just THAT good. And he's got a million of them.
@@chadcharest9891he is so quick witted that those jokes just seem to pop out of him without any effort at all lol. That NBA/WNBA joke is without a doubt one of my all time faves. It’s also just the reactions he gets when he says that shit that make it even better.
There's a Maori proverb that is often said at award ceremonies in New Zealand "Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini" which essentially means "My success is not that of a only me but instead the strength of many" which I feel sums up what he's said pretty well. That success is made up of all the support and knowledge you've gained from the community.
@@Canolliemayhem such a beautiful and profound proverb. Thanks for sharing! A little different but it reminds me of the “i am the product of all my inspirations before me” proverb in a way. Love New Zealand culture and the people.

One thing I've noticed is everyone says Spencer AND Alex which says a lot about how well Games is run and that people are given the impression so clearly that the team functions as a unit
I also do want to comment here and say that when Spencer is talking about the Angela and Amanda Resident Evil video and "showing girls a video game" is really cool for me because of that brother aspect. Spencer and Shayne (and Trevor and everyone) make it feel so non-toxic to be able to learn about and enjoy video games. When I was growing up, it was such a boys-only thing so much of the time, and it made it not fun to learn about or enjoy video games, but smosh games has made it fun again for me to like video games.
Definitely, I had to have a more masc presenting name in videogames so I didn't get bullied lol I got so used to playing alone that when my friends or brother asks me to play with them I don't know how to act lol
I had the same experience, I have only brothers. When it was just my older brother and I, I would be so interested in video games but my brother would never let me touch them and say that it’s “not for girls”. So I legit grew up thinking I shouldn’t touch or like games unless my brothers said that it was cool to do so. Same thing with wrestling, we are a WWE/sports entertainment family and I was interested in it as a kid and again, my older brother would say it was just a boy thing. It wasn’t until recently where I’m learning how to play video games and watching pro wrestling more. I sucked at playing games but I learned what I liked and disliked about games and what games I gravitated more towards because of the let’s play RUclips era and those guys wouldn’t flat out tell me that I couldn’t watch, like, or play these games lol
Reading this comment really just made things click-I love watching letsplays on RUclips and I think it's because I used to wake up Saturday mornings to watch my brother play videogames for fun. A good games channel brings back some of those nostalgic feelings for me.

YES, THE FACT THAT IF THEYRE ALL LAUGHING IT’S A GREAT VIDEO!! As a viewer, it’s always a good time knowing that the people in the video I’m watching is having fun themselves. it allows the audience to feel a connection with the cast, aka making inside jokes within the fandom, and it’s hilarious because it really is a big cousin hang out 🤷
This year Smosh Games has truly blossomed into something so beautiful and warm, like Anthony said its like turning on a video and feeling like you have family and friends in the room. Thank you so much Spencer, Alex and the entire team at Smosh Games, We are so proud of you all and beyond grateful. Every video feels like a labour of so much love and that love translates to us, SO THANK YOU SO MUCH. And the way Anthony reaffirmed Spencer and Alex, I spent a day with Smosh Cast and Crew are truly some of my favourite things to watch.
great explanation of the "aspirational" vibe for Smosh - as someone who is separated from lots of my friends and finding it hard, post-covid, to make new connections that are light but meaningful, Smosh represents not just a space I would want to play in but the kind of person, and the kind of friend, that I want to be and to have in my life. thanks for bringing us shared enjoyment that is thoughtful without being navel-gazing, personal without being intrusive, and tender without being saccharine. 👍👍
Spencer is right on the money for why fans like myself enjoy the current iteration of Smosh. I just started watching the content earlier this year, and I really enjoy that the videos feel like the cast is just having fun making each other laugh rather than trying to be funny for the audience. Everyone's strengths and personalities just work so well together. 2025 is gonna be a good year!
As a relative newbie to the Smosh universe, Smosh Games was the last channel I explored. I'm not much of a gamer in any sense, but I am thoroughly entertained by Smosh Games videos. I can't wait to see what's coming in the future!
Same! I avoided the channel for a while cause I just figured it wouldn’t feel relevant to me (and I admittedly still don’t engage much with the more video game-specific videos), but it has honestly become one of my favorite Smosh channels! Especially after the latest Dread series 🤯
I legitimately was not interested in Smosh content in the slightest for over a decade and subscribed only shortly before Anthony came back. Defy owning Smosh before and not respecting the audience really showed throughout the years and I simply wasn't connecting with that approach. Now, when Smosh is fully independent, the authenticity of the cast REALLY shines. Constantly trying to recapture lightning in a bottle never works. But what Smosh is doing now generates new lightning with every single upload. It truly feels like the golden era. Ps. I'm a subscriber of Anthony's channel basically since the beginning - not because I'm a superfan, but because when he left Smosh, his mature take on making videos and the connection he cultivated with his guests was genuinely the content I could get behind.
That's one of the highest honours in life. People knowing that "you're not like that". I've experienced that I think twice. It meant even more because I struggle a lot with feeling misunderstood. So actually having someone understand what I'm about meant the world.
It took me sometime to realise my first Spencer video was a Clevver TV video with Ryland Adams. Yes, that Ryland, the one who is now married to Shane Dawson.
25:36 considering i've gotten many board games they've played on the channel (hues and clues was a hit this christmas!!-cannot wait to play moose master) i think they're rlly accomplishing this goal :) i aspire to have a friend group like smosh games
I love watching Anthony being head of Smosh again he seems like the perfect boss. Caring compassionate understanding and Spencer is easily one of my favorite cast members watching him with Amanda it's probably my second favorite dynamic only to Ian and Anthony
Spencer honestly has such a unique sense of humor, he is an incredible addition on camera. He fills in a comedy niche that is totally unique to him, and plays off the rest of the cast so well
I love that we got an interview with Spencer!! On Smosh Games he seems way more animated, and seeing his more chill side is very cool. He seems like the kind of guy that would be so insightful, chill, and welcoming to everybody. It's awesome to know that he leads the Games channel in such a caring and intentional way for everyone there and for us (the audience), too! Spencer seems like a great guy.
this honestly does feel like i woke up to a fantastic christmas gift 🥹 like i understand that i probably will never actually KNOW them and be friends with them (esp this being a spencer focused episode) but learning more about them and just being around their energy is so relaxing and safe. & hearing what their work/online presence means to them helps too! like to know their expectations/boundaries
13:20 this goes to show that as fans we should not judge people so harshly and immediately when we watch them on a screen. At the end of the day, they are real people and we don’t know them, so for the fact that they are putting themselves out there for our viewing pleasure we should give them the grace of lack of judgement.
When the cast is giggling and having fun, it almost doesn't matter what game they'rre playing for me. Also, maybe it's just because I'm a mom, but I worry about Spencer's caffeine intake a little bit. I'm sure he knows what's best for himself though.
Before a year ago, I would've never watched a Smosh video. Now I'm subscribed to most of the Smosh channels. The variety is awesome. I've been on RUclips since the beginning and Smosh's humor wasn't my kind of humor, so while I was aware of Smosh for over a decade, I didn't watch their stuff. I started to watch "I spent a day with.." during the pandemic, knowing who Anthony was and it was awesome, then I remember hearing mythical bought Smosh after Defy died on the Philip DeFranco show, and then when Ian was on "I spent a day with..." And it was announced Ian and Anthony were getting back together, I started watching the Smosh channels and loved the content from TNTL to Reddit Stories to Smosh Mouth, to a lot of the table top games they played. Idk it just seemed better than the really weird and chaotic nature of the old content and it drew me in.
6:49 Spencer is “uncancellable” because the joke comes from someone who genuinely seems to care about people, he doesn’t punch down. Side note you think this was filmed around the height of the“he’s just a chill guy” meme, drinking game, drink every time someone says “chill” lol
I feel like this video was like the best kind of performance appraisal for Spencer lol. But honestly, the Games channel is one of the things I look forward to the most and also rewatch constantly. I definitely feel what Spencer was saying where the best videos have been the ones where they are just trying to have the most fun. You can see the change over previous eras where it’s all about numbers and what performs better, this era just seems so much more authentic. It’s probably why I enjoy it the most, it’s truly about laughs and friendships. I think this current cast lineup is also helping that though too because they all are just so good together and just bounce of each other so well!
What I love about smosh is that they found themselves in reality whereas most youtube channels would change their content rather than adapt. Its a huge factor in smosh making a huge comeback
Spender saying “everyone is so good at tee-ing eachother up” is so monumental. I’m currently in a band in Little Rock Arkansas, I manage a band in the same city. And being that kind of “team player” while playing with the team??? >>> That is a quote that will sit with me, because it came from a very safe and trusted artist. Thank you, Spencer. Truly, a gem. In so many ways.
@@tiktaktictac It's a term used in competitive games to refer to how people play the game currently. For example, if a character suddenly gets super strong and everyone starts using it, that character is the meta. It can also refer to techniques or strategies, like Spencer does for hitting his sisters
@@tiktaktictac meta used like this is referring to gaming. Specifically the meta-game. the meta-game within in a game is dependent on various factors. for example, in a game like overwatch theres tierlists of the characters based on their performance "In the meta". Then that brings in terms like "nerf" or "buff". Nerfing something is essentially weakening something. Metas aren't defined by game developers, but by players. So if in a game there was 10 characters, but over time players slowly find out that characters 4-8 are insanely good. Then that means characters 4-8 throught out the games player base are playing them and a bunch of data is collected to produce the "meta". Its win rates, pick rates, ease of use, etc. if you play any call of duty, that games meta is defined by the guns and perks, sometimes even the operator you use (character model) can have an impact on competitive performance. So when he uses it about hitting his sisters, he is saying that it was just the most common outcome or methodology of executing harassing and fighting with his sisters was hitting. but its not as one to one or that anal about it being a collection of data 🤓🤓🤓 hes more so saying that wasj ust the most common thing that happened. Phyiscal sports kind of have metas. Like height in basketball. Anatomy based pros and cons related to like physical measurements. In the olympics there are banned shoes for running sports because they like fuck up the "meta" and are assisting runners to much. Some shoes give you about a half inch of boost in stride distance bla bla. I hope this helps.
@@tiktaktictac Meta is an acronym mostly in gaming for Most Effective Tactic Available. It basically means "this is the way to get the best result in the game" So he's basically saying that fighting his sisters was the way lots of people were back then
love love love this video. smosh games really used to be a channel i did not care much for in the smosh family but now it's one of my, if not THE favorite channel. spencer I adore you and you're among the best people that ever happened to smosh and I'm really glad we get to see it more and more directly ❤
Spencer is the perfect amount of humble but not cocky and I completely understand why people think he's so hot. 🙌🏼 Edit: I do wish this video was like an extra hour long tbh. Dream blunt rotation
To the point of content they were making. I think Smosh and dropout and mythical and a few others. When they make content that feels like it's for them and not us it just feels good. I love watching my para social friends hanging out and just having a great time. I love seeing them bring genuinely them.
When people ask why I love watching Smosh so much, I explain that it's because I love watching a group of friends share things, have laughs, and get to explore their creative paths. Hearing Spencer explain that the target tone for Smosh is aspirational seems spot on. I love watching the shows because the cast and crew remind me of my own friends - now that we're all adults we have busy lives and don't get to hang out so much, but when we do, the vibes are often very similar to the Smosh gang. Watching Smosh videos gives me the opportunity to experience some of that joy when my friends aren't around. 💛
this video was incredibly comforting and healing as someone who would love to take their career into the digital space, particularly for channels like smosh mythical try guys etc. thank you guys for talking about the things i wish i was able to ask someone around me.
I’ve been a subtle admirer of Spencer since the clever days, I remember first seeing him in a smosh video and getting so excited (I didn’t know they were both under defy back then so I was shOcked lmao) anyway just wanted to say you are such a cool dude, I love the unique energy you bring to smosh and honestly everywhere you go, thanks for the laughs
I''m so glad he said that about Shayne and Courtney, and the way people obsess. That greatly annoys ME, and I don't know them. I can't imagine how much more it frustrates the cast (and especially those two).
This isn't on the same level but I work in mental health and if one of the families I worked with came up to me and tried to get counseled by me while I was out to dinner with my family or walking my dogs in the park or on a date, that would be seen as out of the scope of my responsibility to my job and that I deserve a life outside of my job.
I freakin love Spencer and everything that him and the crew have accomplished at Smosh Games. Literally my favorite Smosh channel because it always feels like I have someone that I'm hanging out with. They've definitely achieved the "aspirational" tone that they were going for. Cant wait for more
Genuinely really enjoy this guy and his work, vibe, etc. Wish we could chat over coffee about whatever. I bet it'd be a good time. Keep doing what you're doing Spencer. Cheers 🧃
12:37 as an artist i feel this so hard i would like to see smosh summer games come back, but maybe a more wholesome version without the punishment vibes they were talking about. i would love to see some of the newer cast members team up like that
30:09 And see for that reason, the first ever smosh series that I ever truly loved was the original smosh cast. It felt so raw and authentic and at the time, other smosh content lacked that same heart. Like it felt like friends hanging out with each other, making it through difficult circumstances by laughing and just enjoying each others company. I honestly can't say smosh mouth feels the same way but idk how you could replicate those same circumstances, yk. Smosh cast didn't feel as produced as Smosh mouth does, IMO. But its awesome to have more smosh content feel like it has heart in it, on top of being funny and creative.
I think one of the reasons Spencer seems so uncancellable is because he does come off so sincere. I believe he would be upset because he hurt people more than he would be upset about his career taking a hit. It is hard to explain it because I don't feel the rest of Smosh is insincere, but there is something he has.
The fact that Spencer's goal was to be a director seems to have informed his aesthetic. He's giving me Spielberg/Lucas/Kubrick vibes with the way he looks. His demeanor in front of the camera is just icing on the cake. Spencer, you're f'n awesome.
This felt like an employee review a lil bit towards the end. Spencer is great and being so upfront and public about his journey and performance on the Games channel speaks volumes to his work ethic and drive.
My favorite thing about current Smosh is how happy and fullfilled everyone seems to be. They all seem to be growing and exploring new things with the support of the company and you can tell in how creative and amazing the content has been lately that they actually are happy with their job.
Spencer's monsters inc analogy is top tier 😂 Also I'm so happy to be a fan during this era of smosh. I am legitimately excited for the 'big plans' this coming year. Thank you Anthony, thank you Spencer
Yea I watch smosh and definitely feel like "man I would love to hang out with them" or "they have the best job". So it's cool hearing Spencer nail the perspective of fans like me. Where I almost live vicariously through it. When I was in the marine corp it was almost like kicking it back home with my friends I lost and because I knew I didn't get that time with them anymore, watching smosh reminded me of specific friends that I had. Funny thing is Spencer reminds me of my old best friend that ghosted everybody and was a rare friend that I enjoyed spending time with the most .. sad .. but weirdly comforting. ✊

great explanation of the "aspirational" vibe for Smosh - as someone who is separated from lots of my friends and finding it hard, post-covid, to make new connections that are light but meaningful, Smosh represents not just a space I would want to play in but the kind of person, and the kind of friend, that I want to be and to have in my life. thanks for bringing us shared enjoyment that is thoughtful without being navel-gazing, personal without being intrusive, and tender without being saccharine. 👍👍
yes!!!!!
NEW VIDEO? WITH SPENCER? ON CHRISTMAS?
this day can’t get better
!!!!
This episode is like the WNBA, but all dudes
Nah we love Spencer man! hes funny but sincere- the perfect combo for youtube
HELL YEAH!
i found out the other day that spencer used to be on CLEVVER TV (i used to watch it religiously) and never realised😭😭 insane fr
I found him soooo familiar and i had no idea where from, now i am starting to connect the dots
It took me sometime to realise my first Spencer video was a Clevver TV video with Ryland Adams.
Yes, that Ryland, the one who is now married to Shane Dawson.
SAME! i remember watching that video at like 15 bc i watched clevver daily
And now, a decade later, i see spencer again & loving it
All this made me do was realize how much more I love and adore Spencer Agnew
Best Christmas present EVER! Thank you Anthony and Spencer!!
I second that!
He fills in a comedy niche that is totally unique to him, and plays off the rest of the cast so well
We get the sweetheart of Smosh on Christmas???? A true Christmas gift. 🎁 ❤
0:38 I literally just woke up and saw this on my front page and thought “this is the best present ever” he knows me so well
25:04 I love the Angela Amanda and Spencer let’s plays would be cool to see more games!
DID SOMEBODY SAY SPENCER AGNEW?
Spencer crushing his end of year review!
Ive never been more excited for an i spend a day with, love how Spencer sees thing and his approach to comedy, such a legend
Spencer seems like a great guy.
this honestly does feel like i woke up to a fantastic christmas gift 🥹
like i understand that i probably will never actually KNOW them and be friends with them (esp this being a spencer focused episode) but learning more about them and just being around their energy is so relaxing and safe.
Oh hey new Anthony vid- IS THAT THE CHOSEN???
Only og’s will know
6:49 Spencer is “uncancellable” because the joke comes from someone who genuinely seems to care about people, he doesn’t punch down. Side note you think this was filmed around the height of the“he’s just a chill guy” meme, drinking game, drink every time someone says “chill” lol
SPENCER 🎉, now it’s truly Christmas.
Happy Holidays everyone 🎄🎁🎅🏻❄️
this was the best christmas present ever! i swear i fall in love with spencer more and more always.
1:29 That was the meta 💀💀💀
what does that mean? like "it's canon" or "it's the lore" or something?
It basically means "this is the way to get the best result in the game"
So he's basically saying that fighting his sisters was the way lots of people were back then
@@HeroGamingFan appreciate it 🙏
I absolutely love how much Anthony glazes his guests in the intro
love love love this video.
smosh games really used to be a channel i did not care much for in the smosh family but now it's one of my, if not THE favorite channel.
spencer I adore you and you're among the best people that ever happened to smosh and I'm really glad we get to see it more and more directly ❤
frankly, this is the best christmas present
Spencer is the perfect amount of humble but not cocky and I completely understand why people think he's so hot. 🙌🏼
Edit: I do wish this video was like an extra hour long tbh.
Best Christmas gift EVER!!!!
Spencer graces my screen, my day is immediately made. Spencer is love ❤️
I freakin love Spencer and everything that him and the crew have accomplished at Smosh Games. Literally my favorite Smosh channel because it always feels like I have someone that I'm hanging out with. They've definitely achieved the "aspirational" tone that they were going for. Cant wait for more
I love Spencer, thanks for having him on the show
Genuinely really enjoy this guy and his work, vibe, etc. Wish we could chat over coffee about whatever. I bet it'd be a good time. Keep doing what you're doing Spencer. Cheers 🧃
love spencer sm he is so funny, easily one of the best members of smosh!!
Any video with Spencer is always going to be awesome.
12:37 as an artist i feel this so hard
i would like to see smosh summer games come back, but maybe a more wholesome version without the punishment vibes they were talking about. i would love to see some of the newer cast members team up like that
30:09 And see for that reason, the first ever smosh series that I ever truly loved was the original smosh cast.
I LOVE SPENCER
“That was the meta” I’m laughing as the oldest sister 😭😂
Spencer is so chill and the aspire goal makes so much sense. The games content has been my favorite lately
3:07 Spencer in pink is hella cute
This felt like an employee review a lil bit towards the end.
Spencer is great and being so upfront and public about his journey and performance on the Games channel speaks volumes to his work ethic and drive.
My favorite thing about current Smosh is how happy and fullfilled everyone seems to be. They all seem to be growing and exploring new things with the support of the company and you can tell in how creative and amazing the content has been lately that they actually are happy with their job.
What do you call someone who was old and unmarried, then found love, and then lost love? Spinster anew
I feel like I want to comment but have no idea what...
Spencer's monsters inc analogy is top tier 😂
Also I'm so happy to be a fan during this era of smosh. I am legitimately excited for the 'big plans' this coming year. Thank you Anthony, thank you Spencer
Everyone really makes it feel like I'm just hanging out with them. The Vibes are immaculate!
Spencer content? It truly is christmas!
I couldn't fathom Smosh's entire existence without Spencer. As a fan I absolutely love his style of comedy. He's so much more than an editor...
tiny spencer at 3:07 is absolute gold he’s adorable
Spencer deserves ALL his flowers and praise this man means everything to me
The Christmas video we never knew we needed. Merry Christmas, Charles.
So good to see Grandpa Daddy & next-Gen Daddy bonding over the holidays 🥰 warms my blood
Anthony is giving peak calico cat energy today
30:37 How awesome is it that your job is to have as much fun as possible
Finally someone famous on this show
Yeah he somehow got Fred Durs- i mean Darts on the show
This interview made me very happy. Love these guys.
Spencer is the BEST Christmas present 🎁
I really want Anthony to spend a day with Jacob Wysocki, i wanna know everything from pitch perfect to now
